Probably 100 BI is pretty standard at those stakes and 200+ is possible. Seriously tho SS is going to give you the best information on ROIs.

Beginner/Basic Question Thread

Hi guys,

I'm trying to build my new BK playing only 9 players SNG and I am currently in micros limit.

To improve my level and avoid too many error, I would like to be the more efficient during review of my sessions.

So my question is : what are you watching during session ? The whole SNG, only plays where you lose chips or the final hands ?

In addition, I am using a Mac so I am looking for SNG's Mac Software. Any idea ?

Thanks,
Vince

I usually skip junk hands unless the blinds are very high (we have like 5bb). If we have 72o utg t20 no need to review, fold was a good play.

I ran this hand thru SitNGo Wiz and it suggest I fold in this spot. Do you agree, did I play this poorly?

BB: 1,210.00
UTG: 1,370.00
UTG+1: 1,550.00
UTG+2: 1,400.00
MP: 2,220.00
Hero (MP+1): 1,500.00
CO: 1,450.00
BTN: 1,580.00
SB: 1,220.00

SB posts SB 10.00, BB posts BB 20.00

Pre Flop: (pot: 30.00) Hero has K A

fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 80.00, fold, fold, fold, fold

Hero wins 50.00

Don't use sng wiz for situations with more than 12 big blinds. It only considers shove and fold as options. Raising is not analyzed.

Raise to 60 and raise to 80 are both fine. Worse the players the better 80 is.

Bovada 3 table beginner $1+0.1 SNG (27 entrants, 10 get paid w pretty smooth payout structure).

Blinds are 100/200 (ante also, but I forget the amount), I have 2100 stack. 12 players left in tourney, lowest stacks have 500 and 1000.

Folded to me, 5 people to act after me. Game is kind of nitty and passive. Two 10-ish BB stacks after me, and 3 same or slightly bigger than mine. I look down at J-9 sooted and shove. Just how awful was this? -_- Any suggestions?

What is the meaning of expected value in easiest way to put it
Beginner/Basic Question Thread Quote
12-31-2012 , 02:19 AM
Ok thanks, let me try to locate it. Bovada makes it a real pain to search for hands, as it needs to be by time period, and one must click on all hands one by one to see what they are. I will email to ask them whether they can send me a spreadsheet instead.

Sick. Well, its hard to say without exacts, but it is probably too loose. I snap shove like K9o in these situations, but it depends a lot on diff stack sizes and how much fold equity you have. I don't think J9o has enough equity and we are probably fairly likely to be called unless we have a tight image.

Maybe take a screenshot when you have a tough spot and that can maybe help figure everything out later. There are lots of 1 click screen capture programs.

Hope that helps.

Basically the outcome you can 'expect' given a bunch of runs.

eg, AA has an expected value of about 81% against JJ ... meaning if you get it in 100 times, you can 'expect' to take down the pot 81 times.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the helpful commentary. I think the screenshot idea is great, I'll get a screen capping software right away.

Sorry if this is super-noob question, but are there any times you should ignore ICM? I'm thinking there would be times on the bubble for example when a short stack goes in, you can fold the A8s ICM tells you to push and leave the big stack to call?

If this is the case, are there any other times you should ignore ICM?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Graph of 1.5s/3.5s hyper turbo 6-max. About 50/50.

Is the EV-line supposed to go up in these? It is supposed to go up isn't it? I feel like I have a pretty good edge vs the players and my ROI is 2.75% which is not that good.

Is there anything you can deduce from the line as to what I'm doing wrong? I guess not. It's just sample size, stop whining and go back to reviewing hands on SNG Wiz.

Pfffff.

It's not like it matters how the graph is going up, what matters is that you keep improving constantly and then the graph shall be the manifestation of your skills.

@miduc
Play like 10k+ hypers and we can talking bout what the graph means. It is possible to make a little money pre-rakeback in hypers, like 2-4% is possible, maybe higher at $3 stake.

Hello,

First of all - I am new to this forum.
Could anyone tell me the website etc where I could find strategys/ranges for SH STT turbo's?

I have played STT turbos in the past, so the format is not absolutely new for me. I would like to start again with this format in PS @ $3.50 SH STT turbos, but I really have to recall all ranges & strat. I think there is not very many free videos about SH STT available, tho I didn't find any.

Thanks!

hello!
I am practicing in SNGWIZ for ICM ,and i have some questions as a reference Hero fold.
To consider the stats about Hero fold should i know that the other players play according the ICM rules?
If not,how can i take the range for push-call of players?(the notes and stats that i have about the players?and how it differs from the range obtained by the SNGWIZ?)

Random Question I've been curious about for a while (that isn't important in any way but w/e):

Say you're analysing a 3handed 6m bubble, you're BB, BTN has shoved and SB has folded. Changing around SB's range doesn't impact the EV of your possible holdings in any of the software I've used. Shouldn't the range that SB has folded have a small impact on the EV of OUR holdings?

And if yes, is this effect so small that the effect just isn't large enough to make an actual change, or does the software just not calculate that effect since it's going to be so small?

Well, if SB shouldve called with 90% but folded and you're in the BB with 22 contemplating a call...

Who knows, 8 years ago we didn't even bother about split pots or multiway allins

Yeah something like that seems like a typical scenario where you would expect it to matter a lot, yet the software (I've used) just doesn't care. And since that one just feels like it has a big impact intuitively, I'm curious wether it would make actual differences for more common occurences as well.

Like in the same example as in my post assume SB is shortie and we have 1.75x his stack and BB has like 3.5x SBs stack. SB is likely calling any ace here, and BB is wide as ****. All of our hands that include an ace should also receive a bump in value because of that. It wont be as large as the 22 example, but I'm just curious to see how small or big it would be for a variation of examples.

Hi everyone,
1st post on this forum and not very good at SNGs so please be nice.

I was wondering if anyone out there could point me to some books, threads, videos, etc specifically geared towards building a chipstack in the early levels and on recognizing and exploiting spots to take down small pots. I excel with this kind of thing in cash games, but I struggle with this in SNGs because people play very differently.

Basically I'm one of those guys who would normally post a thread moaning about how they "always lose" to a suckout in the mid-late stages and go out. Thankfully, I'm fortunate enough to realize that the reason this is consistently happening to me is because I'm missing too much value along the way and therefore failing to consistently build a stack that can withstand a usually inevitable hit. I put myself in positions in late game too often when I must have 2+ hands in a row hold up to be a factor, and that's just not realistic, especially if my life is on the line. I think I'd be able to really crush these games were it not for my underwhelming early game play where I usually sit there not really accomplishing anything. I'm not a nit or anything, just surely I'm missing some spots.

So can anyone point me towards something on gathering chips early and recognizing those spots I am surely missing? Pretty much anything detailed on early gameplay in SNGs would be highly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

The first thing to do is get concrete fundamentals and then apply more advanced concepts like chipping up early.

The best way to do it is either from a book or a training site or through a coach, for more info there is a sticky around here somewhere with plenty of links.

Question about using icmizer in 6 max hypers. Which model should i use? Default like in sngwizard or Ben Roberts?

I read and wanted to use ben roberts:

but later founded that:

an now have no idea which one is better?
