Hi all,

I’m looking for some help with learning ICM.

I’ve spent several hours looking over this forum and several more looking over the internet in general and although I have found some interesting stuff, it’s not want I’m looking for. Just want you guys to know that I have done my homework before posting my questions.

I want to come to terms with ICM as part of my learning and development. I’m not interested in doing it live (whether or not it is ethical) because I don’t multi table and I’m training to play as much as possible in Bricks and Mortar as well as online.

I see ICM as a good (essential?) training aid for learning the SNG end game and I want a program where I can import my hands for future review.

I tried the SNG Wizard for a trial period, but I did not find it intuitive and in the time I had available I could not investigate help/support/tutorials. I’m a donk because I downloaded it just before I went away for two weeks, so I ran out of time! I’m not broke so I am happy to cough up for the licence but I’d really like to know a little more about it before I commit.

I also went for the SNG power tools but (like some other forum users commented) their website appears down (or the URL is wrong)

I found a couple of free ICM applicators, but as far as I can tell they don’t allow you to import hands, so they are pretty useless for bulk analysis.

Of course I might be wrong about all of this, that’s why I am now posting the following questions:

1. What is the best software for bulk ICM analysis and does it come with access to decent (detailed!) support/help/tutorials?

3. I need to bust the ICM terminology...any links to this? I have found both the terminology busters on 2+2 forums, but here is not much ICM stuff in them.

4. Any detailed articles on ICM out there? (I have read Mosham SNG Strategy and Kill Everyone relevant chapters and they have not taken me much forward)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers all Fatboy54

New Stars player over from FTP.

What's up with hem results? played ~500 hypers, and have had to manually enter all results, as well as the EV calc. seemingly not working.

can be automated also.

Right now i wouldn't know good hu poker if it hit me in the head,so this place seems the right one to ask this.
Nash chart works if the other person is using it too right?Knowing the definition of a N. equilibrium and that game theory works by assuming all players act rationally this somehow makes sense to me,am i right?

What do you mean by "works" Mucks? If the other player is playing nash as well, you guys will break even. Playing nash makes it impossible for the other player to exploit you. So if youre calling nash; if your opponent pushes too wide or not enough youll make money. But if you know what side of nash he is shoving, you can adjust your calling range to exploit his range to the maximum. Knowing nash or sage is a good starting point, but you need to pick up on your opponents tendencies and vary your ranges to capitalize on them.

where does an edge come from?
what makes one player better than another?
what seperates the 5% roi players from the 15% roi players?

Edges come on the whole from making fewer mistakes.
One player is generally better than another because he or she makes fewer mistakes.
Some mistakes are easier to avoid than others.

Yeah they just do everything better really. Maybe you size your turn bets better than DDBeast* but he's gonna rape you in every other spot.

In a 9max on the bubble.
What happens if the two shorties are equal stacks and both get knocked out at the same time by a bigger stack?

Do they split the third price?

Does depend on site, but mostly yes.

How many games per hour can be played at the $7 hypers on stars when 9 tabling? and when 12 tabling please?

Not looking for someone to tell me to play for an hour and find out. Thanks.

based on average lengths of

14 minutes for 9man
10min 6max
4 min heads up

35 - 40 games 9man
about 55 games 6max
and 135 games HU,

Hey guys- just a noob question. I've used sng wizard for 10bb 9max tournaments and it gives a very tight shoving range for utg (rightly so)- on the Holdem resources thing- we get a much wider Nash range.

Can anyone explain why this is? And explain the reasoning behind the different ranges?

Many thanks.

In the nash range people are calling correctly, that means even if our range includes hands like AXs their range will still be tight. In a real game some rando dude utg+1 isn't smart enough to fold his TT/AK or a guy in mp to fold his AJ/88.

Also, in wiz some guys will have some poopy 66/ATs range as a default which makes thin bottom of your range shoves become just terrible -ev shoves. btw NEVER use default ranges in wiz ALWAYS SET YOUR OWN

Does HM skip SNG's a lot?

I put in a session with 40 sng's at least 40 sng's under Total registered, but when i reviewed my session in my HM, only 34 showed up.

Does TN sng sensei screw up alot and count some tournies twice or is it likely HM missing tournies?

No, it doesn't. If it's on Stars, get them to send you your last 40 games. Import them and see whether you missed some. Probably you didn't and it was TN.

I need a good starter guide for STTs, I'm a cash player looking to switch over at least for some of my volume.

Total noob question here, please be gentle. I just got HEM and since I'm now retired (@54) decided to take my recreational passion for poker and get more serious with online STT's & MTT's currently on Merge. Have played live tourneys locally at Pechanga and in Vegas with mediocre results over last 10 years.

My question is about how to post data and graphs here for help from the community. Any info is appreciated for HEM I'm just learning to use it, since I have some results (small sample size tho less than 2k games) showing ROI on $2 DON's at 16%. If that were to hold up to maybe $10 DON's it could be worthwhile. I can only handle 5 or 6 tables comfortably. Of course somebody here probably has better data than me, so please feel free to educate me if I'm way off. Thanks

Best thing to do or the thing that I do is to just press print screen when you're looking at your graph or data and then load up "paint" (if you're in windows) or any visual editing app and go file/paste. There you can edit out any vital parts of the pic you don't want and save, upload it to a site like http://imageshack.us/ . After that it's just a matter of posting the link in a thread which can be done by inserting into an image wrapper

Gl and welcome to the forums.
