Came here to add on to the 100K debacle since I have to drive back to SugarHouse today. I came into day 2 with a lot of chips, had a swingy day that mostly swung down, and found myself with about 130K about 15 minutes after the day 2 late reg closed. I get into a spot where I open KQs, 2 players flat, I c-bet the KJ3dd flop and kid snap shoves for my last 100K. I think for a while (I know the kid a bit and think he's weighted more towards value than most players would be here) but eventually call off because of the somewhat wet board. He has KJ and I bust. There is a reason I am bringing this up.

The clock says 65 players remain. I'd looked at the "Savage 1 in 8 payout structure" which is what we were told would be used for this tournament. With 425 players or so, 45 would be paid. I looked around and thought I saw 7 tables left, so at the bare minimum there were 55 players remaining. I told my buddy at another table good luck and I left.

I get home and see I've got a bunch of texts from my friend that I might have actually mincashed. He eventually confirms that floor looked at video and saw I was last one eliminated and I should have been paid. This is angering for several reasons.

1) I need to drive 45 minutes back to the casino to pick the money up now.
2) The casino never personally contacted me, it was all on my friend to let me know the situation.
3) I felt the spot was close as to whether or not I should call off. Had I known the upside of locking up a cash by folding, I probably do that and still have 100K in chips.
4) Apparently they paid 53 people for some reason. No idea where that number came from.

How can a floor be so incompetent to not keep a close eye on how many players remain, ESPECIALLY in a tournament where they've decided to allow players to buy in on day 2 for 4x the original buy in??? People hopping in at the last second combined with short stacks from day 1 busting is going to often lead to a situation where you've got to be careful about the money bubble approaching. Fifteen whole minutes (and that's a conservative estimate I think it was more than that; I'd doubled up earlier in the same level and folded quite a few hands so it was probably close to 25 minutes) after late reg closes and you haven't even bothered to update how many players are left, or announce even how many players are going to get paid (even if you don't have exact numbers on the payout amounts yet)???

I'm going to call SugarHouse now to ensure that I will actually get paid when I get there, and then I'm going to take that money to Parx to put in a session. I don't see myself playing at SugarHouse again, which is a shame because the structure of the tourney was nice and the player pool was weak. But the idea that I get knocked out from a tournament because the floor wasn't paying enough attention again is not something I'm going to deal with.

I was at the table with your buddy. You really owe him. They did not check videos. They were dependent totally on players recollection and he fought so hard for you it was ridiculous.

420 total players times 12.5% = 52.5 or 53 players

Yeah he's the man. I clicked the payout structure thing and it said 400-499 pays 45, which doesn't make sense on the 1 in 8 thing so maybe I misread it. Either way board said 65 people left so I felt confident enough that I was out of the money to leave.

What a crazy situation. I agree about the floors and paying attention. When I was there they had no chip runner. I got stacked on a hand and pulled out cash to rebuy, dealer called for chips and the floor snapped "no brush" and refused to get them even though it wasn't busy at all (maybe four games going or something). So I just left, who needs it really when there is plenty of competition for everyone's business.

High hands will be back now that the tournament is over.
Guess that bad beat hit already as it's already gone from the Bravo page! That was quick!

Yep. Hit Monday night on a $2/$5 game.Think it was 2222 vs. 9999.

This promo is so disorganized. Now they are giving away an extra $800+ to each of the four high hand jackpot winners on July 2. ... But is that the four starting at 6 a.m. or the 4 starting at midnight? No clue. Don't really care because I haven't hit one since they went with these in February. Meanwhile, my friend has hit about 7.

I haven't used this site in a long time, but I was playing 1/2NL at Sugarhouse recently and I ran into an ethical question I wanted to get this thread's take on. There was a player there who appeared to be a regular, because a lot of people seemed to know him by his first name. He was not good at poker, but he wasn't spewing or anything - he just seemed like an older fish with some glaring Mike Caro era tells.

But the more he talked, the more I wondered if he was actually mentally disabled. I don't want this to seem like I'm making fun of his poker play - he was probably not the worst player at the table. He was just acting in a way that made me question how much horsepower he was working with. For example, he repeatedly (at least 7 or 8 times) shouted "I love you" to a dealer across the room. I won't get into too much detail because I don't want to make fun of the guy, but he wasn't drinking or anything.

Two questions: (1) Can anyone confirm if this guy is playing with a full deck? He's [edited by dinesh to remove personally identifiable info.] (2) My general ethical rule has always been that if the casino finds a player fit to play, I'm happy to take their money. Out of curiosity, where exactly is the line when it comes to intellectually disabled individuals? There's a line somewhere between "dumb fish" and "ward of the state," but how does the casino find it?

No ethical dilemma at all. It is 1/2 not some kind of high stakes game. And unless he is going all-in every hand or doing something ridiculous - he is probably only losing $20-40 an hour. He could spend more on a golf course (if he is physically healthy enough to play) or at a Resort.

He is getting his entertainment and the game probably keeps his brain somewhat sharp helping ward off Alzheimer's and Dementia. Be respectful and enjoy the game.

Will you guys consider increasing the blind levels in your tournaments from 20 to at least 25min? The structure currently is really bad. 8hands max at each level depending on how many slow acting super stars are at the table.

How many years will it take to fix your comp system?

It is annoying to have old comps disappear after not going to the poker room for 3 weeks and also to have to go to the front desk just to have the comp dollars put on my card.

Is the casino that hard up that they have to take away/withhold comps? I won't even get into the policy of removing comps after only 60 days...

This is false. I know all the regs who play 2/5 here. I have played thousands of hours with them. There are a few who may soft play each other but they are some of the biggest fish. Most of the regs are total fish and easily exploitable. The 2/5 here is great whenever it goes. I have played a huge sample size at sugarhouse, borgata, and Chester, and a decent amount of hours playing 2/5 and 10/10 at parx. Sugarhouse is the best and honestly the softest and it's not even close

Played at Sugarhouse last night. First time in the new room, other times played in the temporary building. I was really impressed. Very nice addition to the East Coast poker scene.

Was at the Trop Poker room last night. They are giving big bottles of Voss water for free to any player - even the lowly 1-2 players that are the major supporters of any poker room across the country. This is the Trop. The Trop.

Perhaps Sugarhouse could do the same with their small Fiji waters. The policy at Trop is you need to ask for the big bottle, otherwise they just carry around the small bottles of filtered water.

Sunday night you have 11 tables. 7 are 1-2 and only 1 table of 2-5.
You also now erase comps after 30 days according to your front desk.

On a positive, the high hand promotions and good dealers are enjoyable.

You're STILL complaining about your Fiji water? Good lord, poker players are just a worst.

You must not get out much as there are much worse things than poker players. And yes, I am still on it. It is FREE everywhere in the casino except for 1-2 players.

Played here for first time last night.

Thought the dealers were great. Food looked good too though I'd already eaten.

Would be nice if there were a few more 2/5 tables. Also need more cocktail waitresses. I will be back though.

Is SH going to survive? Its pretty bad when Harrah's Chester has twice the number of tables running and Parx is giving SH the dagger with all their promos.
