All around the series was a fail. I will admit that the new tournament structure was pretty cool with antes from Level 1, but the timing, marketing, lack of guarantees setup Sugarhouse for failure. Not to mention that during the series, they did not run their staple $500 high hands every 30 minutes on Friday which I hope they bring back.

They probably didn't run high hands because they didn't need to, the room was full every time I checked bravo during the normal high hand periods and definitely full on Fridays with the limited space. I'm assuming they'll come back now that the series was over.

It may have been a fail but it could've been way worse. Also, the conference space once opened appeared very nice. Maybe next time they'll slap some guarantees and blow it out of the water but that wasn't the only hindrance, the Baltimore and AC series being at the same time appear to have been a bigger issue than the guarantees.

edit: Full disclosure: I don't play tournies and thus don't know ****.

AC & Baltimore's schedule were out well before they decided to run a series at Sugarhouse. I was actually taken back that one I brought up Baltimore's $300 1 million guarantee, the floor person was not even aware that Baltimore was having a series.

The room was filled yes, but the action at the lower stakes was pretty pitiful.

I am excited for the conference center for tournaments, I just hope they don't think they are Parx and can run tournaments with 0 guarantees.

I just noticed on the tournament calendar that for the upcoming $100k you can buy in for one of the 8 starting sessions for $250 OR you buy right in to the final day for $1,000 and start with 100,000 chips.

I couldn't find a structure sheet online. Does anyone know what the day one starting stack is and what they're playing down to? Also, what will the blinds be for the first level of the final day?

I am completely fine with players rebuying on Day 2 for the starting stack, but allowing them to rebuy with 20bbs on Day 2 seems very absurd and I think you will find that the field will become incredibly pro heavy towards the end because of this.

And have my complaints not had any merit? Pretty sure everything I said, ended up coming true in regards to low turnouts for their past series etc.

So you complain about low turnouts but you hate adding players to a field.

Sounds like you just want to bum hunt recreational players.

No, I just want these pros not to get an unfair advantage just because they may have deeper pockets. Sure, they are going to lose a little bit of EV because the SS is most likely going to be 30K which means 1k is worth 120K in chips.

Structure sheet looks fair 33bigs on day 2. By your logic a rebuy tournament is unfair

I didn't like it until I saw the sheet. If they play to 12.5% each day 1 then the average will be around 200k.

My question is, when they decide to pay x% of the field do the 1k buy ins count as 1 entry or 4.

I noticed a 20-40 stud going the other afternoon. Are there regular days and times this runs?

Wed at 9a we usually get it off the ground. Tues/Thurs it's historically at Harrahs.

Raye,

I've been a huge fan of your room since it opened, but I am furious right now.

I was playing 1/3 for about 8 hours today on table 11. A drunk guy came and sat at the table. He was loud and obnoxious and he was constantly holding up the game. He was literally the told 7 or 8 times to put his drink in the cupholder and refused. He then spilled his drink all over the table.

After that words were exchanged and he told me he was going to "bash my skull in" I called the floor, told them he threatened me and asked them to cut him off. The floor did nothing. The drunk then wanted to "take it outside" I again called the floor and this time I admit to saying "Will you throw this f****** guy out or at least cut him off?" and they threw me out.

Not one of the supervisors there had the skills or courage to deal with the situation .

Bad beat hit for the final time. Quad Ks against quad 9s. Both flopped a set. kk made a huge overbet and almost got 99 to fold. Fortunately for those at the table she didn't.

I was not at table.

Rumors persist when the gaming commission finally approves there will be some kind of bad beat reintroduced.

A dealer told me that there is some state requirement that grey have to wait 6 weeks before reintroducing a smaller bad beat.

Wouldnt 1/2 PLO BI structure be something more like 100-300? 100min serving as somewhat of a SS deterrent + action encourager maybe? 200-1000 seems more 2/5 +.

Antes from the jump in the 100k seem a little degenerategamblertakingpokerinthewrongdirectionish Imho

Hope the room isnt going down the 'scare the rec/fish' road.

What does a tournament structure have to do with the size of the room. I understand that you want to show off your poker knowledge ITT but Gtfoh.

I doubt less that 8 people take advantage of the day 2 buyin.

I think a lot depends on how close to the money they are after day 1 and the chip stacks at the bottom. If day 2 starts only a few spots away from a min cash and there are a lot of people with 50k or less in chips a day 2 buy in might be a +EV situation because you could be close to guaranteed to get almost half of your buy in back. I don't think it can be determined until after the final day 1 session is over and you can review the number of total entries and look at the stacks of those remaining.

To much strategy in the above post. I would estimate this prize pool will get around 180k

I am going to say closer to 600-650 entrants, but a lot of that depends on the weather and if this tournament will be held in the event center.

I think if they put a large 250K Guarantee on it with a 270+30 they would probably hit that.
