whats up guys im a regular player at fw and ms i was at the sun earlier today playing and saw a new banner in the front of the room advertising new rake specials for alot of different games limit as well as plo and plo8..i wrote them down here they are...

half rake on all 5-10,10-20,20-40

$1 max rake on all omaha hi/lo 20-40 and lower

$1 max rake on all mix games that include omaha ...im guessing that means any hose hoe horse oe hope or any combination...i remember a crazy hope game(holdem omaha pineapple stud hi lo)

mohegan sun has run alot of specials since they opened but i think this may be the strongest yet...

just another sidebar i held a blackcard at fw for a long time and have recently had my blackcard pulled from me and the standard for the gold card just isnt fair(15pt min a day need 800 but if u dont get 15 that day u get 0 towards 800 gold card qualification)

one thing ive also noticed at the sun is they have their own executive host johnathen who is very nice and will do whatever he can to make players happy there..

in all honesty ive always liked fw but with their new players card standards they just want to trap u there and make u chase the 15 points and i really cant tolerate this so im prob just gonna play at the sun

im pretty sure the ms staff reads these threads and pays close attention to player requests(bruce and rick) so maybe one of you guys can verify these rake deals and better explain how to obtain wolf status/sagamore status

I guess they are pushing limit players to play 5/10+ and starting as many mixed games as possible...

If you want to play 3/6 or 4/8 limit, why not just start a HO game and get $1 rake, sounds easy to me.

all we have to do is try to everybody to the same place at the same time at were all set

This sounds great but as a Foxwoods Reg that plays 10/20 LHE and 10/20 Omaha there are just not enough players to run these games at both places at the same time....

I will be heading over there the next couple of days to check it out !

I have always said the Sun cares way more about the players than Foxwood ever will !

Is there any stud games that run regularly on Fridays and Saturdays during the day.

Looking for 1-5 or 5/10. Rather venture away from Foxwoods as I hate the room, I hate the old people that complain about everything (not just at the stud tables, but the casino in general) I hate the layout and food options I pretty much hate alot of things about foxwoods other than they give me a free room almost once a month.

I did a trip to MS for a day of 2/4 to feel it out and other than parking in the winter garage and it taking me 50 mins to walk to the poker room, I like the room much more than FW and want to make it my regular saturday place (during the day)

The "you're not in my section" excuse does make sense to me as I was a waiter years ago and whenever someone does something in your section you're thinking about them trying to get at your tips, but why would you not be running your butt off when you're giving away free drinks that 90% of the time result in at least a dollar tip? Hell, I'd be wearing roller skates and trying to make $100/hour!

Also, have you ever noticed that the male beverage servers come around a lot more frequently and are generally more pleasant and proactive about finding people who need a drink?

About a week and a half ago I was there on a Saturday night and started playing around midnight. I got a water almost immediately after sitting down and the waitress didn't come back to us in the next two hours. We were a little out of the way, sitting very close to the cage, but she did make a point of serving a table that was all the way in the back right-hand corner of the room. Finally I got too thirsty to wait, saw another waitress in the middle of the room and got up and bought a water directly from her, she said she'd send our waitress over. 30 minutes go by and nothing. Ask the floor. 1 hour later a waiter apparently comes on shift and comes to our table, we get non-stop service (every 15-20 minutes or so) until I leave a little after 5am.
There was some rumor that both casinos are getting a lot of heat from the cops. There's alot of DUI's and a couple of bad car accidents in recent months

Male servers are alot faster, but they still make less money.

Usually 2 or 3 games of 1-5 running on Fridays and Saturdays. Also a 5-10 game usually will go on Saturday. Next time you go park in the riverview garage and park near the elevator that is to the far right in the back from where you enter the the garage. That is closest entrance to Casino of the wind and poker room.

Definitely going to be there on Friday and Saturday night, but I think I will wear my Skynyrd hoodie for a change of pace. You will know you found me if you see someone playing 1-2 who looks like he should be carded.

just got back from the sun went and played some 2-5 through the morning and then afternoon until a 10-20 stud game broke out in which i made a bee line for...

game started 8 handed and there was a list within minutes..im assuming a couple fw regs were there to try to talk to management to include 10-20 stud to be included with the half rake specials and apparently it worked we played with half rake and theres no timetable as to when this special will end

im almost positive that when this gets back to the regs at fw there gonna want to play here at the sun

Usually, the beverage staff not only is friendly and timely, but they will literally get you anything. My personal experience a week and a half ago on Saturday was an aberration, for sure.
Were you playing limit? That might have been me she was calling a smartass.

Nope, I exclusively stick to NL. Was she a bit older? if so, it might have been the same waitress, at the very least.

So much for the rake deals on limit games tonight. I stopped by there around 6PM on Thursday hoping to find a limit game somewhere between 4/8 and 8/16 and only saw a list for 2/4. No mixed games either... was kind of disappointed.

I'll be headed up to either the Sun or Foxwoods to play some 2-5nl tomorrow. I usually go to Foxwoods but last weekend I was at the Sun and liked the room (except for the drink service). But considering it was a holiday weekend, it was probably more crowded than normal. Having said that, I think there were only 3 or so 2-5nl games going. At Foxwoods there is obviously greater game selection since the room is so much bigger. My question is, if I go back to Sun, how many 2-5nl games usually run on Sat afternoon/night?

Thanks.

p.s.: the table I was at last weekend was ridiculously good. Hardly any aggression preflop, so if you want you could see tons of flops cheap. Even had all 10 players see the flop one time. I total change from online to say the least.

Just got back from a very good night, plenty of great wins and bad beats, but pot control was the key . I was even identified by more than one person as a poster in this topic, which was quite cool.

In all, it is always a good time at the Sun, to say the least...I may be there on Saturday--it would be a good excuse to visit my parents on the way .

Went there yesterday for the first time. I was pleased overall with the poker room, but I was disappointed to see few games spread. The highest limit game going was 3/6, and there were no O8 games going. They did have NL going up to 5-10 and one 1-2 PLO game (although according to 1 reg there, that game is a rock garden with pots rarely exceeding $15).

I sat down at the 3/6 and the game played a lot tighter than what I was used to. Still beatable, but it was 4-5 to most flops instead of the 7-8 I was used to at Foxwoods a few years back. There were a few solid regs in the game, maybe that was just because this is was highest limit game going at the time. Wonder how this game would play at Foxwoods.

The dealers were friendly and didn't really make any mistakes other than a few exposed cards. However, one thing at the end of the session bothered me. Mohegan was running a high hand jackpot and was raking an extra $1 per pot. There was a hand where a lady was holding A6, the hand went to showdown and there were 3 6s on board to give her quad 6s. The dealer said she didn't qualify for the HHJ because she has to use both hole cards. But isn't the hand 4 6s with an A kicker? Why wouldn't it qualify? Wish I had said something at the time but didn't think about it until after I left.

dealer was right, hand didnt qualify, you must use both your hole cards so if you hit a straight flush you need suited connectors and in this situation if you hit quads you need a pair in your hand etc
anyone play 2/5 last night around 10-1? i was the kid with the guiness shirt and the guiness necklaces
