tonight was certainly a night to forget, gave back pretty much everything i won last night...played 2/5, picked a bad spot to triple barrel an asian station at the must move table, any 2p2ers at my table?? i had a black polo tee with short hair, raising too much in posistion :P Then moved down to 1/2 and had pretty bad coolers, flush over flush, trips over trips although i was sure i was beat each time i have a calling reflex that i couldnt seem to overcome as i was on tilt.

Was it the big guy with glasses, ex-bodybuilder type? Hair in kind of a short pony tail? If so, that guy is awesome. Everytime he bluffs he shoves a bunch of chips in, stands up and starts telling you about how great his hand is. If he's actually got it, he's quiet and irritated that you haven't called him yet. He never switches this up. I wish everyone was so easy....

I know who this is, welcome to the thread! I will likely be at 2/5 all weekend, myself, unless someone intercepts me before taking the stage.

Riza, I went to the library yesterday I read over half of Kill Everyone...man, you weren't kidding, that book is very, very advanced...many recognizable concepts, but plenty of others that are new, but make a lot of sense. Thanks for the recommended read!

I'm usually at 1/2, but occasionally 2/4 if the wife comes down with me.

I will be dressed in some type of jersey--it was WAY too warm in my hoodie.
Blue sunglasses. Short black hair.

And I always rattle on about my deficiencies, so I am easy money for the taking...right?

One of the biggest things i liked about the "Kill" books was having it open a whole different line of thinking in tournament strategy. Even if you don't like or use the strategy, I'd recommend reading the books as an aid in understanding the methods that many of your opponents will be using.

I know who you are. I spotted you in there the day after you mentioned your Skynard hoodie. I just never spoke on these forums before, So "Hi I'm Bill...the creepy thread lurker from the intarwebz!' seemed like an inappropriate intro.

I'm the white guy, long hair, little bit of facial hair. Usually in some type of adidas garb.

Lol, that's one that everyone has to figure out for themselves. Are you up or down in your poker career? (rhetorical)

I doubt we'll run into each other on the table any time soon. I had to donate my roll to the plumber at my cake shop. But I'll hop up on the stage and introduce myself next time I'm down. I'm grounded to recreational 1/2 and 2/4 right now.

Hmmmm, now I am not sure if I know you...did a dealer give you a big spat about putting money over the betting line during our session? if so, then I am 100% sure I know who you are.

Nope, not me.

And isn't is house rules at the sun that the "betting line" is not binding? It's for dealer convenience only afaik.

Aha, I know who you are, then! I narrowed it to 2--I saw you up on the stage this past weekend (didn't see you playing, though).

And I have heard dealers interpret it both ways, sadly...very inconsistent. To the point that even I do not know offhand.

The betting line is 100% relevant IMO, if your extending your arm that far with chips in it, you better be sliding them in. Any shady **** that involves betting lines, putting bets forward/taking them back etc I will never hesitate to call the floor over to enforce the betting line.

Right?

Idk what the "house rules" are, but wtf, if that isn't the standard to determine betting, then I don't know what is (besides verbally declaring, duh).

As far as I know the betting line is supposed to be a major angleshooting deterrent, as well as a convenience line for the dealers as to prevent back injuries. If your not going to enforce it then why even bother having it in the first place. There is a reason it is called the "betting" line.

Even though it can sometime give people angleshooting opportunities, such as splashing a call or a bet but having it land just before the line. and a few other ones I wont divulge into because IWSJ might use them next time. The house needs to enforce the betting line, and make better rulings when people are trying to angle.

Some casinos have a "betting" line that even has the words "betting line" on it. But its not a betting line. Chips have to move 1/2 to the pot. I think the place is called "the Blunder of it All".

Flop: 822 BB shoves a short stack all-in.

Now, I have no idea where I am against a player whose entire range is literally everything. To make matters worse, he was a tight player...so I had to use my physical tells. I snapped my wrist and pretended to muck without releasing the cards...I paid close attention to his eyes. I knew to call after I did it, won against 44, and the guy in the 10 seat was PISSED (he was not in the hand).

He says, "what the hell is that?" I sarcastically reply when the villain is away from the table, "psychological warfare." He replies, "that is a ****ing angleshot, and I would beat you up outside if you did that to me!" Now, this guy is about twice my age, and the dealer clearly knows that he is the aggressor, so I just let him spout off and stack my chips. Some adults are so mature .

But I did cash despite my lack of ammo! 15th place
That was me in the 10 seat BTW. You actually told the story pretty accurately, except that I never said I'd beat you up - as you noted I'm twice your age and my 6 foot 2 frame tips the scales at about 165 if I've had a big breakfast. What I said is that if you do a move like that to the wrong person, you're gonna find yourself getting beat up some day. I took 9th btw.

Now that we've both had time to reflect, I will say you played well in the tourney, picking great spots and making good read. I still say it was an angle though, as you were trying to elicit information by "faking" an action. If that's not an angle shoot, what is?

Good trip for me. Besides the tourney I played 4 sessions of 1/2, losing only once ($58), and winning 3 times ($84), ($161) and ($618) on my way out.

Will post more details later if I can - family vacation weekend.

I have never had any problems with betting/angles at FW, as I am a reg there and more of a lurker here. From my experiences if you bet and the bet doesn't pass the line, the dealer will kind of sit there and look off until you push the chips a little further.

I did not state it because I really would not expect it to be believed--the angleshot was a complete accident. I noticed that my left wrist was twitching to the point of jerking with the hole cards in my hand, saw the villain's eyes follow the motion intently as if he wanted me to follow through and release, and used the information to help make my decision.

Why do I feel this is immaterial? Because I still used the resulting information to my advantage, I still was chastised for it, and I sarcastically replied to it and "brushed it off" given the fact that I had no real intent (oops!). Which is why I initially did not really think much of the act.

And I do not expect this explanation to be believed despite its validity, but I just thought I would throw it out there.
Again - having been at the same table, I find this version of the story to be revisionist history. Remember - those who justify don't convince.

And in case you think it was not me who was the 10 seat, you were wearing the Merrimen jersey and glasses with an earring/stud in at least your left ear. I had short dark, graying hair and was wearing a gray v-neck sweatshirt. You were in the 8 seat.
