Maybe they can sometimes do something during the week when there's a lot of vacancy, not sure. Definitely not on weekends. I don't know where you were getting that 105 number from. Yes paying $115 for EconoLodge does suck, but on a Saturday night in the summer you're not going to find anything really cheaper in the area... and definitely not on the property.

So the strangest thing happened and I'm not sure how to deal with it. I reserved MGM for Monday and Tuesday this week. I arrived around 8:30pm and the MGM desk told me that I didn't have a reservation there, it was at Grand Pequot. I was very insistent that I would never book a room anywhere other than MGM and the way that I book makes it impossible to book anything other than MGM. My husband suggested that I show my email reservation but I could not locate it that way. Long story short, I slept at GP against my will and only this morning did it occur to me to check my reservation in the website and sure enough, it says MGM.
I know most will say, the room was free and there is nothing wrong with Pequot. Well that is not the point and I disagree anyway

Thoughts?
That's very strange, I've never heard of that happening before. There's nothing you can do about last night, but you might be able to get your room switched over tonight.

If you only play poker, be happy with anything FREE they give you... write down your confirmation code next time, or keep your e-mail confirmation.

But the beds aren't nearly as comfortable as MGM. And after sitting there grinding all day, the extra walk (i.e. exercise) is a GOOD thing.

I stayed there last week and they gave me a handicap room since I checked in late. Usually doesn't bother me, but the shower in that room was a sit down shower with a chair that wouldn't go up. I had about a square yard to stand in. It was tight for me. I wouldn't want to see what it is like for someone who isnt 175. I toon a picture of the shower. I am on my phone now so i can't post it. It's mind boggling how small it was.

Just a heads up, the Lobster Prix Fixe on Monday nights at Burke is now $33 instead of $29.
Don't ever get the Lobster Carbonara. It is disgusting. First, they use this really heavy penne, its not creamy at all and the lobster was hard. Couldnt even pierce it with a fork

On a good note, the poker room has been very busy lately. I dont play Monday nights often but the last time I played one, there were two tables most of the night that went down to one around 3am. This Monday there were 4 until 4am and still 3 when I left at 4:45am

Is there a significant difference in player skill or size of the player pool between 1/2 and 2/5 on weekdays?

I think so.
I only play 1/2 while waiting for a 2/5 seat or when the bbj gets over 400k but it seems to me that most 1/2 players seem to be level 1 thinkers, if that. No concept of bet sizing, relative hand strength, board textures, etc.

There are less than 10 players in the entire 2/5 player pool that use and apply these concepts correctly. 2/5nl at Foxwoods is as fishy as 1/2nl.

Now obviously the 1/2nl player pool is twice the size so you are going to have a greater chance of avoiding the tiny % of good players but both games are equally as poorly played imo.

2 5 nl plays too shallow at foxwoods. If I had to play 2 5nl i would do it at mohegan sun as there is 800 buyin but there is not enough table selection at mohegan sun and its the same regs. At 2 5nl foxwoods the few times I have played pre flop was 25 to 50 avg, continuation pot bets maybe I sat at uber loose tables? Not much wiggle room with 500 buy in .

Wow. Such an exact number? Do you regularly adjust your count to factor in new players, players getting better, etc?

2-3X more 1/2 games than 2/5. I can't comment on the skill level difference. Walk by the tables and look at the stacks to get an idea of potential win/loss ranges and sit where comfortable.

Most 2/5 players definitely have a better sense of the game, I find myself hero-calling or generally stationing people down far more often than at 1/2, and shifting my betsizing to being based more on the board rather than how strong my hand is. However, most 2/5 players (even the regs) still play wayyy too much out of position and peel/pay off too light. They're still very unbalanced in certain spots so if you're at all post flop savvy you can really punish a lot of these leaks.

Overall the game plays a little over twice as big and you pay a dollar less in rake so if you're making $10-15/hr or so at 1/2 you can definitely make around $30-35/hr at 2/5 if you're okay, and upwards of $40-45/hr if you're good and game select well. $50-$60/hr used to be possible a few years ago but the game has definitely dried up some, still very easy to beat for a solid chunk of change if you're decent though.

the best thing you'll notice from moving up from 1-2 to 2-5 is that your table will automatically have 4 less old nut hunters.

Let's turn the Foxwoods thread into a strategy thread.

Let's list all 2/5 regs and their specific leaks and how they can correctly fix them.

The 2/5 game at Foxwoods is more aggressive and you have to think more. People are bad at all levels. 2/5 is significantly different from 1/2 in terms of aggression and general mistakes players make.

Yeah I don't want this turning into another squabble like the 2/5 vs 5/10 topic a few months ago. I think the original question has been sufficiently answered. Let's move on.

Honestly, i think my count is pretty spot on...no? As for players getting better, i think that the vast majority, especially the regs, barely work on their game if at all.

This is obv a really vague question, but how soft are the 5/10+ NLHE cash games? tight/nitty/reggy ... or loose/aggro/splashy??

Noob question:

First time going to a casino tonight, making the trip with one other friend. We'll both be playing 1/2, and don't want to sit at the same table. Can we just tell the male/female at the desk to not sit us at the same table, or are they just sitting as it goes?

You shouldn't have a problem. I wouldn't say anything unless they put you at the same table(highly unlikely at 1/2) then just tell the floor person
