I won a high hand promo tonight with a straight flush

Another guy in my hand ended up having quad queens with AQ and got stacked, poor guy. Unfortunately he did not qualify for the BBJ despite both of his hole cards playing (you need a pocket pair to qualify with quads). It sucks that their BBJ qualifications are so strict, but I will take my win.

I wouldn't say it is strict, it is pretty standard for a bad beat to require quads playing pocket pair.

In Ontario Canada until recently, you could qualify with quads without a PP as long as your kicker played. So QJ on a JJJQ9 board would qualify along K10s, but not on a JJJQA board vs K10s. Kicker would be the Ace and not qualify.

Yup I've heard of not requiring a pocket pair but it is far less common than requiring one. It's near-universal that both hole cards need to play though.

I also remember Foxwoods letting you get a bad beat with quads using an unpaired hand as long as your kicker played. It’s possible I’m remembering incorrectly.

In any event it looks like Encore’s rules are more standard than I realized.

Most high hand rules don't require a PP for quads (just both hole cards play). It's easy to accidentally conflate the two.

$10 Coin-In = 1 Point (most Video Poker)
$20 Coin-In = 1 Point (Good Video Poker)

Mixed bag. My first table was really good until asshat Asian guy bluffed the fish, then showed, so he racked up his 1200 and left

Second table was a limpfest/nitfest. I three bet an utg raiser with AK , bb flats and utg folds QQ! Then bb with JJ folds on a T high flop to my cbet. Yay but nitty
I took off at 10:50 when 8 high straight flush made the board.

It seemed slow but I checked out how the other rooms were doing and Encore still had more tables than all of the others combined.
Foxwoods was running the Classic plus a hh day and only had 12 tables!

Anyone know if I can bring a guest to the buffet at the special Red Card promo price? Terms and Conditions are a little unclear - they say you can purchase two entries per day but other wording makes it sound as if the offer is only for the card holder.
