2-5 NL, one flopped a set, the other, an open ended straight flush draw, the river was the Ace of diamonds which made four aces and the royal...

Was all the money in at that point and cards up? It's always cool when cards are up and players know what they need and then... After the dealer pauses ever so slightly, he or she turns up the magical card.

They are not separately funded; the small one is just 25% of the big one (with a max of $50K).

Did the changes happen today? Unless I'm mistaken, I remember reading on this thread that the live straddle, buying the button, and running it twice was to be incorporated today (July 7th)?

All of the above starts July 9th. When it comes to running it twice in PLO, we do offer nine handed games. If the game is nine handed or less, running it twice will be allowed. Eight handed games may run it three times and seven handed games will be able to run it four times.

Stan you guys should really consider changing the no refund on tournaments policy. I was there today and paid for entry into the 200k event for day 1C on Tuesday. As I was there playing I got a call from my a guy I do work for who needs me to work on Tuesday and when I went to the counter that I registered at I was basically told nothing they could do.

I will now be attending Tuesday but I have one pissed off boss. I would have waited untkl Tuesday to register but was afraid it might be sold out the seating.

I wonder how many registrants know of the following provision?

"15. $2,500 will be subtracted from the prize pool and awarded to the chip leader at the end of Day 1A, and
$2,500 will be subtracted from the prize pool and awarded to the chip leader at the end of Day 1B; and
$2,500 will be subtracted from the prize pool and awarded to the chip leader at the end of Day 1C"

What is the point of awarding prizes to a random person? Only reason I could imagine is Borgata wants players knocking each other out while fighting for the chip leader position and thus perhaps shorten the tournament. I was considering playing, now I seriously doubt it.

Why did they institute the new rules? Where a lot of people asking for it? Buying the button and running it X times is OK, but I dislike the straddle rule unless you had separate tables for it.

Copied from Parx thread:

If you ever want PLO to be a game that gets serious play, running it multiple times is almost a requirement, moreso at lower stakes, IMO. The variance is just too large to not be able to run it twice for almost everybody's bankroll who is playing this game.

I kinda disagree with that. One of the reasons we're good players is that we understand variance. If you're playing 1/2 PLO and you're constantly needing to run it twice because of crazy variance you're probably underrolled.

I guess it's good to have, but it's going to make games take forever if every time people get all in they're going to run it 4 times.

Last Tuesday, I had an opportunity to swing by for some PLO action. (Again, thanks so much Stan for helping us start the game!) We started 1-2 PLO heads-up with a player who wanted to take a break from NLHE. Later with the small pots we've been winning back and forth, both of us wanted more action.

So after 5 minutes, we raised the blinds to 5-5. Later, my opponent thought it wasn't enough. (I got the impression he loved variance and more action.) So after another 5 minutes, we bumped it up to 5-10. By then, we had to increase our buy-ins to the $500 minimum.

Later on, two other players came in to join us. Since they wanted to play lower-limits, we brought it back down to 5-5. Great players...one of them mentioned he's a regular Parx player.

I ended up busting out with the J-high straight I flopped versus an opponent's K-high straight caught on the river. (Damn, runner-runner.) Started with $300, went as high as $750 and then walking away with shame. But I had a great time. I hope to be back next week to play in the NLHE bounty games and a nice 1-2 or 2-5 session. :-)

Do they usually run satellites for the main event at the Borgata open? Something with a cheaper buy in to get in the main event?

you can only run it twice (or more) when it's heads up only, right? if it can be any time, then this is terrible for the game.
