My preference (if BBJ is a fact of life) for the middle limit games would be 6-7 players and a 5 big bet pot at a minimum.

I'd probably argue for 7.5 big bets ($150 at 10/20 $300 at 20/40) if I really thought it would work. This would be about the size of a heads-up that is raised preflop and has one bet per street and the hand goes to showdown. The exact pot size would vary depending on if the caller is in a blind or in position but this is the round number in that area.
(Each player seeing showdown puts in 3.5 big bets, with a potential 0.75 big bets from the two blinds if neither sees the flop for a pot).

And regarding Stan's comment that there are a number of players who do want the BBJ who play in these games, while I am decidedly NOT one of them, I'm not blind to the struggles we had getting any game during the periods when other BBJs have been extraordinarily high.

just came in 15th in the o/8 event. Good tourny. Day dealers, some were pretty bad including the one asking what the ante amount was but once the night shift came in they were great. Had a chance late, missed draw in 105k pot and then lost my last few chips top set vs wrap. Please make sure the o/8 is always on the weekend I think it lets more people play.

I do play the 20/40 sometimes, but the 10/20 more often. Honestly I am more affected by the change to put the BBJ on the 10/20 with 4-7 players than putting it on the 20/40, but I had been thinking about playing more of the 20/40 lately since I almost always seem to do well when I play it there.
I used to play a lot of 20/40 at the Taj but stopped because the game was just too crazy for me. The 20/40 at the Borgata seems not to be as crazy.

Or maybe I was just doing better in that game because of the lack of BBJ, and the crazy players who chase it?

Regardless for the recreational player (that has to make up a minimum of 50% of players) a BBJP makes it more exciting to play in a specific room. This will affect the bottom line, I mean if you were at the Borg two Wed's ago, it was the absolute deadest I have ever seen a Wed's for the big morning tourney and the games. So obviously a big BBJP does affect how many players are in a room.

Also if you ever read Stan's posts he has always stated that he only implemented a BBJP after a lot of thought, and internal arguments, where Stan has quite clearly stated previously that he acknowledges that a BBJP drop is not great for the grinders out there
It is not only bad for grinders, it is bad for the health of the games long run as well. The money that is won in the BBJ is usually not making it back into the poker room.

Anyway, I am proud to be a nit about money, but I am not really that tight, and I always bring my own drinks to the poker room so I can look at the well endowed waitresses for free.

oh man, Stan served you hardcore chillrob "you dont even play 20/40." wowwww, that's pretty sick, pretty sick.

As a NON PROFESSIONAL, i am very happy about this, the last bad beat fiasco at the Taj stole all my action during my last mid week trip down there. Instead of raking in nice pots at the low limits/mid limits I was stuck trying to trick and confuse the regulars with my wild and silly table side behavior and overall play at the O8 game. Needless to say, I would have preferred the room would have been more full but noooo....all the fish were swimming in the dirty waters of the taj because of the BBJ

That's because it (O8 event) was on Fathers Day. I (and prob many others) would have played had it been any other day.

Still I'm glad they made it a 1 day event. I hope they do the same for the next Borgata Open.

I don't think that making more games BBJ eligible will keep people from going to other rooms when the other room's BBJ is really high. People go there because it is high and then return after it hits. So, if this is some sort of defensive measure in response to the Taj jackpot specifically, it seems short sighted. If, on the other hand, this is an effort to grow the 20/40 player pool at Borgata to attract those who play the Taj 20 specifically then it makes some sense and anytime you attract a player who plays a game because it is bad beat eligible, I suspect you are improving the game.

Also, I have never played the 20/40 at Borgata but I have played the 10/20 and have intentions of playing the 20/40. (I don't want to get owned like others in this thread so I'll just get that out there now.)

I have such a hard time getting away from work in July, but was psyched to see there was an O8 event on a weekend when I could actually make it down...until I noticed it was on Father's day. So I was out as well. But I was also glad to see it was a 1 day event, hope it will be the same in the next series.

yeah glad it was a 1 day. I think we could shorten up the early levels and make the levels longer the deeper it is. They really got up there and made it more a luckfest towards the end. I mean a guy with 5k on bubble won the thing.

Father's day def lost alot of people for the event.

I don't get all the guys(?) who didn't play a tournament because it was father's day.
Were you all with your dads? Or if you are the father, shouldn't father's day mean you can have the day your way and do whay you want...?

No, someone wrote a post on the 20/40 being BBJ eligible and Stan responded "you don't play 20/40."
