Why is this such a bad thing? It's not like they were in your way or anything.

I assume you're referring to the Borgata Spring Open (April 10-30). With large attendance at daily primary events and other tourneys throughout the day plus many Day Two players of previous day's events, where would you suggest they put the tables? In the parking lot?

It got called as 4-8 and bumped to 5-10 by unanimous decision before the first hand was dealt. Good fun game too.

Stan: I note your live game report with interest (good idea). Are you permitted to give the numbers of runners in the Friday tournaments? Coming 3 hrs. from LI & it helps me persuade other LI players to join my trip if we know how big your field runs as we choose between M.S. Fri. 2 PM $200 and your events in AC.
Also, as the Summer OPEN, any chance of running a shoot-out? Seems to me it's a quick 1 day & I have dozens of S/G players from LI who'd be wise to try it out. Thanks for your reply.

Kills in Hold Em aren't yet allowed in AC (as far as I know) - someone would have to apply to the CCC to make that happen.

I don't really mind the dealers at the Borgata since they just do their job. I was over there this past weekend though and didn't really like the floor management.
On Saturday night i was hovering around table 17 where they have 2/5 PLO and was on the interest list with 7 players for 1/2 PLO. Since I never played PLO in live I wanted to first start with 1/2 before moving up. I asked this sorta chubby asian floor manager when the 1/2 PLO game was expected to run and he promptly told me "No 1/2 PLO tonight, only 2/5." He then turned away and I tapped him on the shoulder to tell him that I knew 1/2 wasn't running at the moment but wanted to get his opinion on when 1/2 would run to see whether it was worth waiting around or heading back to the boardwalk. Before I could even get a word out he turns around and yells "What do you want?!" So I mutter never mind and just walk away.
Sure he was busy but at least take a couple seconds to answer questions. The room in opinion seems a bit understaffed at times.
Also it seems like there are never 1/2 PLO games anymore =(. Was looking forward to playing PLO there

Stan, game report when you get a chance please. Thanks

Oh and I would like to echo the sentiments to get 1/2 PLO at least habitually started on Friday/Saturday nights at the Borg.

If you want to try to get the PLO game called, go to the podium in the back and say something like, "There's 7 names on the 1/2 PLO list. Could you try calling the game to see if it'll go?"

Depending on who you ask and whether or not they have a table and dealer, they'll usually accommodate.

It seems that some supervisors forget that their jobs rely on keeping customers happy and in the business. Dealers should keep people happy to keep the tips coming in. Supervisors who are paid by salary, who forget that customers pay their salaries, should be reminded that they too need to be customer service professionals.

What do you think, Stan? You already seem to lead by setting a great example. Shouldn't your floor staff do a good job too?

Unfortunately, this type of misunderstanding is perpetuated by word of mouth across a number of floor people, dealers, and players.

I am confident that Borgata uses the correct rule for cash games and tournaments which is:
A raise must be at least the size of the previous raise. If a player puts in a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet but less than the minimum raise, he or she will be required to make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed. In no-limit and pot limit, an all-in bet of less than a full raise does not reopen the betting to a player who has already acted.
I've been away from AC for a while. So I would appreciate Stan's and anyone else's input regarding the issue quoted above originally posted in the Brick and Mortar forum.

I dunno that one. I was at a 1,2nl at the Borg, I checked the flop to a guy who bet $15, another player went all in for $16 total (just a $1 raise!). I just called the $15 and the original better made it $45.

I asked the dealer if he could do this. The dealer says and all-in raise is a raise so he can re-raise it to $45.

So I folded, but I wasn't sure it was the right ruling.

That is just wrong.

When I can make it back to Borgata (my favorite place to play) I'll definitely discuss this with everyone possible in the hopes that the correct rules are applied.

What do you think, Stan?

That was definitely a wrong ruling. The uncertainty is between a 50% requirement and a 100% requirement for the size of the all-in player's raise. Under no interpretation does a 7% raise count as a raise.

I found a Borgata house rules book from a few years ago. The below rules appear to be for limit hold'em. Although this book is not organized as well as I'd like. So I can almost understand why someone who has not seen TDA rules and Robert's Rules could confuse these rules with those of no limit:

If the house rules book at Borgata has not been updated in the last few years, it's my opinion that Borgata's house rules should be reviewed, reorganized for clarity so that they are obviously in line with what is commonly practiced in the world's best casinos (in which Borgata should be included).

Obviously dealers, floor people, floor managers, tournament directors, and the poker room manager should be held accountable for understanding the application of the rules and ensuring consistent application.

No ruling occurred. The dealer made an incorrect assertion about what the rule was - if the player is unsure, he should ALWAYS ask a floorperson for a ruling.
