How is there even so many poker players there? Did the poker room fit that much in the past for cash games?

What I want to know is, do people with seats starve themselves all day in order to be assigned to a table? Lol

there's fast food downstairs and you have a minute to lock up your seat when you get the text message.
It has worked for me but I don't play at peak hours

Have you heard that all the other poker rooms in the area are closed?

The only thing I don't understand is when someone shows up and the list is 140 deep, why they still put their name down.

you get a text when your name comes up. a lot of people on a list that long will have given up, and you can play something else or stay in your room until you get notified.

That's what I was referring to. And how players don't do research, call in, or take a glance at Bravo app before showing up.

I'm hoping Borgata will put more tables out eventually.

You can add your name to the list of 140 players at 4:30 PM on Saturday if you would like to get a seat Sunday morning at 11:00 AM.

they have 78 tables, 1/2 and 2/5 were ten handed pre covid
plus the 30 tables running have about 90 less players than usual
so really it was an extra 160 players or so without a seat +90 that would have a seat if games were still 10 handed

The games have all been updated on PokerAtlas to reflect the new changes: $1/3, rake, 7 handed etc.

However the $2/5 rake is still listed as $5/hh. Did they backtrack on this or is this info on PokerAtlas just incorrect?

mod: I just deleted a few politics posts (hint: if you're using a pejorative name for a governor in your post, you shouldn't be making it in LCP or Venues), plus one dupe.

Then I moved a couple COVID argument posts to the containment thread. If you want to argue about the best way to handle COVID, please do it there.

This thread is for discussion of Borgata specific items only, please. Thanks.

I played 5/10 Friday and Saturday. I don't think I will hurry back. The major issue is that the average number of players per hand is 5. If you don't like short handed play, you should not bother coming. Either it takes too long to fill the seat, or there are one or two people not sitting at the table.

People were wearing their masks just fine, and I saw frequent cleaning by the staff both in the poker room and in the general casino. They also change the cards much more often, it seemed like once every two or three hours perhaps? I was able to see mostly everything fine through the plexiglass, except for some chip stacks. The mood was somber, not a fun atmosphere IMO.

“But after 10 p.m., no food or drink will be available to anyone inside the casino.” the governor said.

Does this include water and all non-alcoholic beverages at the table? If so that's an enormous blow.

Rivers Philadelphia has this policy in place and it sucks. To get a drink of water I had to walk outside to the Valet where they have a little cart with bottles, then you have to re-enter security (or you could go to one of the two open restaurants, which is obviously not part of the situation for Jersey post-10pm).

It appears no water etc...

Liqour makes some sense. Denying people water or coffee is mindboggling. 9pm water ok.. 1011...its dangerous ?

Going to be hard for a lot of these card rooms to justify their large space that is likely to remain largely empty with these protocols in place. Hopefully there will be some good news soon. For the majority of people, going to Atlantic City is about having a good time, grabbing some food, talking with people at the table etc...

"They also change the cards much more often, it seemed like once every two or three hours perhaps?"

You would think that they would at least use a new deck with a change of dealers.

At the craps table they sanitize the dice with every new shooter. They wipe down the dice before they pass them to the next shooter.

sanitizing dice is a lot different.
whenever they swap out decks the dealer and floor person has to verify all of the cards are there and sign off on them.if you changed them every dealer you would be sitting there half the down waiting for the change to be complete.
you already have like 3 people working a craps tables, taking a few seconds to sanitize dice (or even sanitizing the extra dice and swapping those out for a new shooter) is no big deal.
