I did play at a couple of different 3-5 blind games that were pretty good action, and which included a couple of players I've seen before at 5-10.

So are the 3-5 games killing 5-10 or was this just an anomaly?

I think the increased buy-in ( $300 to $1000 up from $100-$500) has brought a few of the 5/10 players to the 3/5. Not sure if enough time has passed to really see the true affect of that change long term.

Now that 3/5 is $300-$1000, what is the min and max buyin for the 5/10 game?

Agreed.

I thought I heard they raised the min from $300 to $500, but the plaques still say $300 and people still buy in for $300. Max is still $2500.

Wow still $300? Someone could decide to short stack 5/10 for the same stack they can full stack at 2/3. I might have to think about that some time for a change of pace.

Time charge might make short stacking not worth it though I guess....nevermind.

CasAz is funny like that. I was there around 2pm-ish yesterday and they had a 5/10 spread, 40/80 lhe, and a 100/200 lhe going. Went on a Saturday night 2-3 weeks ago and the biggest game in the room was the 3/5 spread.

They're back to $4 + $2JP, supposedly until Jan. 1. I can understand it, too: The promo fund has been cut in half to ~$250K and they've got the football pools to fund. It'd be nice to have it 3 + 2 but the room's so much slower than in years past. I just hope they go back to 4 + 1 in Jan.

Who is this, and how did you get access to Howards account?

Almost all of the Poker Hosts are gone now, they aren't leaving a vacuum because the role wasn't designed to start games or keep short handed games going or anything like that. But I think the room should strongly considering hiring some prop players now.

Yesterday I was on the list for the 40-80 game, and we were finally able to get enough of a list to get a 5 handed must move started. I go over to it and find that the other four players wanted to play half Omaha 8 and half holdem. That's fine by me, in fact it's my preference. But the floor won't allow it, even though the entire table was in agreement. They wouldn't even allow us to just make it a separate game, not even a 60/120 game. The only choice they gave us is to go to green chips, i.e. 75-150, which some of the players weren't comfortable with.

I'm not blaming the floor, I understand their dilemma perfectly. The problem is that the 40 game isn't what it used to be. It's rare there is a must move anymore. Last time I got called to a full game the action player had just racked up and everyone stood up and left as soon as he exited the room, leaving me to play headsup with apparently the only stuck player. To protect the game they are now prohibiting brown chip mix games while the 40 is running.

The rule wasn't really needed on such a busy day as yesterday, but if they made an exception then they'd be fighting players trying to get exceptions every day. Eventually the floor found a way to accomodate us yesterday and both tables agreed to switch to half & half.

So it worked out, but I thought this was a great example of why the floor could use some prop players to help manage games with. If they had a few props in the mid-limits that they could move from game to game, they can start a 40 mix game with confidence knowing that if it or the 40 Holdem game might break they can shift props from one to the other to keep them both going. They can use them to start games sooner instead of having players sitting around waiting. They could also use them to help keep the 20 going and the 5-10 as well.

My guess is they could probably get some decent props for $20-25 an hour plus benefits, depending upon how flexible & attractive the hours/days were. And the net cost is almost $14 an hour less due to the time charges. It doesn't seem like a substantial cost and could produce significant benefits if regular players came in more often knowing they could always get a game.

Probably for less than that, considering the cost of living in Phoenix. That would make for a comfortable living if the prop could break even on the tables.

I would prop any hours and games they assigned tomorrow me for $25 an hour.

They don't even have to pay me to prop the 5/10 game, just start the damn game when there are players willing to play!

I was in the game around dinner time, didn't see you, and I never had to show down my runner runner draws.

The bigger limit games were awesome last night, not only did we get a 75-150 HO going (later switched to HE only) but there was also a great 40-80 at the same time.

I'd play that 5/10 game more if they actually texted me or something when the game looks like it will be good but they are lacking a player. Win-win? but id never agree to be a prop. I'd rather put the time in off the tables to increase my hourly even more and maintain my freedom than be stuck having to play when i dont want to. Poker time management is key to success imo

Do you guys think an average 2-3 game is beatable for much with an 4+2 drop?

I played the 2-3 the other day for a short while. It was playing much better than the horrible, no action 1-2 and I think that there's enough action that a decent player can do well. I've heard the same from some of the regs in that game.

So the 2/3 replaced the 1/2? If so good.

Also, does anyone agree life would be better if both blinds were the same? At least for the small game? Isn't whatever strategy advantage there is from the sb dwarfed by the amount of time that would be saved with waiting for him to find $1?
