I'm in the 7 seat, we are playing HOTB, and the game is good.

seriously there is usually a 40 that starts every morning around 10 am. the 20 started around 11:30 am today, and later they'll probably have two going. the 40 usually is one table, sometimes fades in late afternoon/early evening, but restarts after dinner.

It's up and running and hopefully will work as planned. I was told that our cards will be credited w/ 100 points/hr which is something like 20 cents and we'll be awarded a food comp for every 8 hours of play. It wasn't clear if the food comp is for $5 or for any meal, I was told both so we'll have to see.

Everybody has to remember to sign out when leaving to get the credit.

The new comp system started yesterday( Wednesday) in the afternoon.

The facts as i know them now:
Players will receive a $5 meal voucher for every 8 hours of play. The voucher is printed automatically at 8 hours at the front board. You will have 48 hours to use it, then it expires.
You cannot "stack" vouchers.
Vouchers are good ONLY in the poker room.
You cannot give the vouchers away OR sell them, you must present your players club card with the voucher to the server. (Your name is on the voucher)
Vouchers cannot be used for alcohol.

From your initial swipe in , you will need to re-swipe again within 4 hours from the last swipe and hit the "continuous play" button that appears in order to continue accumulating hours. If you don't, you will be automatically logged out of the system and you loose those previous 4 hours.

Players are 100 % responsible for swiping in and out at appropriate times. there is NO ONE in the casino that can override the system and "fix" missed hours because you forgot to swipe for "continuous play".

Just swipe the machine when you take a short break within the 4 hours.

You WILL get credit for tournament play

I guess my question is, if they print automatically, how do you know they printed? Are they calling out your name? Does it tell you when one printed out when you swipe again? Do you have to go ask?

Gah. Everything about the comp system is worthless to me. I suggest everyone just call the floor over every 4 hours and ask them to reswipe you in. Sooo dumb.

Really? You get 62.5 cents an hour in food comps that can only be used within 48 hrs and only in the poker room and you have to do that pain in the ass swipe every 4 hrs system or you lose all your hours? Why even bother with a comp system at all? Geez.

The Fort McDowell system is so much better. The dealer swipes you in and out at the table, you get a simple $1 an hour in comps that can be used for anything in the casino or withdrawn as cash, and you can check in their computer system at your leisure how many hours you've racked up.

The electronic system to call for chips, drinks (service) and floor is working now bec they made the display large enough to be read from anywhere in the room.

I think we have to ask for the food coupons.

So ******ed. Im going to ask that they simply do nothing rather than make me remember all this crap.

So if I forget when my 8 hours is up, my printed food voucher is going to be tossed?

And if I play for 8 hours and remember to get my voucher, but am unable to make it back to the casino in the next two days, it's worthless?

And i have to shuttle back and forth swiping my card in while I'm trying to play poker? all for 60 cents an hour?

Worst comp system ever, the person responsible should be fired. The purpose of a properly designed comp system is to motivate players to play more often. This system won't affect players play hours at all, and is a waste of money for the casino.

The reason is that first, 60 cents per hour is chintzy. And even if it's enough to motivate some low limit players to play more, the rules are so restrictive that they reduce that little incentive even further. It's not even 60 cents per hour if you lose vouchers you've earned, or if you forget to swipe out or every 4 hours. In reality that will happen to everyone regularly, and so no one will ever even earn 50 cents an hour.

So much effort for no real return for anyone.

Agree 100%. It's literally the worst casino comps system I've ever personally heard of. We waited all this time for...this?? For someone like me who comes in a couple of times a week at the most, it's 100% worthless.

For the vast majority of players who aren't going to remember to get up every 4 hours, it's mostly worthless. To make this work you not only have to come in every three days minimum, you have to remember to reswipe and remember your total hours so you know when to do up and get your coupon, and remember to actually go up and get it. All for $5. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF?????????

It's a comp system destined to anger as much as reward. Players will be mad they forgot their vouchers, or that they expired, or the floor that saw the player walk in 4 hours earlier can't credit them when the player forgot to swipe.

And I wonder how much it will even cost, the food dollar vouchers probably only have a direct cost of $3-$4 per voucher. When you factor in expiring vouchers and unswiped hours the cost is likely half of that. So maybe a total cost of 25 cents per player hour.

With one minor change they could greatly improve the program, increase it's incentive value, reduce player complaints and anger, and without much extra cost. First, the vouchers shouldn't expire for at least a month or more. Having them almost instantly expire saves a little money, but makes the program far less valuable, and totally subverts it's purpose by directly reducing it's incentive value.

This also means they shouldn't auto print the vouchers, because the front brush is going to be buried in vouchers and will have to leaf through them looking for a players voucher whenever asked. instead print them when the players request them, less work, hassle, and no piles of paper at the front.

That one minor change rationalizes the program and makes it much more useful, even with it's low hourly value.

The system is so bad that enough players will complain that they will change it eventually. The 2 main issues are the amount of the comp and the way they track the comp.

What they should do is let you acquire comps that are saved on your card and never expire and let you use them for anything in the casino: food, drinks, cash, slots/table games, whatever. And it should be a decent amount, like $1 an hour, which is not that unreasonable considering how much they rake.

As for what DesertCat said, if they made them not expire for a while (longer than a month) AND let you stack them, then it would be acceptable. I mean you can't get anything decent for $5 on the menu and if I'm using comps I'd rather save up 2 or 3 comp tickets to pay for a whole meal then always just get $5 off. It just feels like they're trying to nickel and dime you by not letting you pay for a whole meal with the comps. So if they weren't going to go to a straight $X per hour then I could live with this.

The other issue is the way that the comps are tracked. The system they have now actually isn't horrible, but since the comp is so little and is such a pain in the ass to use (expires in 48 hrs and can only be used for food in the poker room) then that makes it even worse to have to swipe every 4 hrs or lose all your time. The ideal would be to track it on the table itself (like at the fort) but if they made you feel like it was worthwhile to have to go and swipe it yourself then it wouldn't be too big of a problem.

I'm having trouble thinking of a dumber one. I guess it is marginally dumber than no comps at all because the players were not flocking to Gila this year.

Has anyone got anything at Gila? Do you have to print a voucher?

btw vouchers are absolutely not needed for anything other than stopping people from using them. At some other casino you hand the waiter or cashier your players card, it's swiped and the points are spent immediately. No need to waste trees or hassle.

On the bright side credit begins when you swipe in, not when you're seated.

The comp system in Tunica is simplicity itself.

Sit at the table. Table-side food, the buffet and all drinks are free... all day, everyday.

That would be the comp system at 'Casino Howard' as well but I am not allowed to open 'Casino Howard' bec my tribe is not recognized.

I personally talked to the floor manager (shaved head, don't know his name) and asked about the comp system.

- In addition to the $5 food vouchers, we get 100 points ($1) an hour for play. The points can be used for whatever points are used for.

- They have (or are going to in the near future) implement(ed) a "texting" system, which means that you can enter your cell phone number into the system, and thus when you check in to play you will be sent a text to your cellphone when your seat/table/game has an opening. This will allow people to go play blackjack, or go to Pete's Coffee downstairs, or back to their car, or whatever, instead of loitering around the front desk.

If these are true, I humbly take back the negative things I said about it. $1 per hour plus food vouchers that you can print only when you need them is a good system.

I still think there is more they could do to maximize the incentive value of the program, and should really look at accelerators ala the pokerstars program. If properly implemented they could not only increase the amount of play they get out of regulars, but also give them the ability to increase time charges and rake with minimal complaint from the regs.

But first things first. Get the current system running, fix any bugs or issues that come up. Get a read on how much work it is and how your regular players respond to it. Only after those things are done is it time to get more sophisticated in it's application.

That makes a WORLD of difference. What can you use points for in the casino? I assume you can cash them out because the $55 comp that was given out last year was in points on the card.
