Looks like about 50 players shut out of day 1c. They announced that any alternates not returning their ticket by 11:15 would be ineligible for a refund. If I missed this announcement because I was in the bathroom or something I'd definitely take them to small claims court.

I must have misunderstood. Now they're saying they'll let the alternates play even though registration ended

Day 1A entries: 407
Day 1B entries: 487
Day 1C entries: 566
Total entries: 1,460

If I'm not mistaken, it's an increase from last year's tournament field.

Any notables in the field?

I saw a few notable names on twitter that made it like David Williams and Matt Afleck. Doesn't look like Helmuth or Reiss made it thru.

Naturally there is zero information posted for chip counts or seat assignments on the casino website yet, but they tweeted out they would have that up this morning, but there was no guarantee :/

You would think with a 9am restart it would already be up, but...

Also, offering poker players to play Keno to get extra chips is pretty laughable. Maybe others don't mind the added -EV gamble, just my opinion.

I think I may have suggested this a long time ago, but since there are new people in the room reading this more now, figured it might be a good time to bring it back up.
Amen to that. My thoughts exactly.

I don't even play in the room anymore but it still bothers me to this day, one of my personal pet peeves.

Anyhow, wow at almost 1500 entries. I only knew it was going on because I just saw Karina Jett tweet she was in the money (on Card Player's homepage).

Jimmy Fricke was great to listen to when he sat in with David Tuchman for a few nights at the WSOP live stream, can def see why the kid (I can still call him a kid even if he ain't anymore!) continues to go deep in big events.

Haha sorry Pope, didn't get a chance to do what I see the twitter handle did, and snap pics of all the pages. By the time I saw it it was go time!

I see you are communicating well with the twitter feed now...

Wow David Williams and Matt Affleck made the final table? There are quite a few notables who played and cashed in this tourney. High number of overall runners too. CAZ has done a good job marketing it.

Been looking for info. Found this. Tourney apparently just finished. Pic of winner on twitter. Sounds like he ran the table over, at least from the few hands that were posted. Pretty sure I played with him in the past and pretty sure he's a humble guy from my recollection of those days. Well played, sir!

http://twitter.com/AZStateChamp

another pic of winner

Edit: Some advice for the Casino (if they care)... in this day and age, there is *NO* better publicity for your poker event and your poker venue than to provide a live streaming video of the final table. Get with the program, guys!

Finally... some fun math facts:
1460 entries * $100 fee per entry = $146,000 for the house
But that's not all! An "optional bonus" (as if anyone would ever refuse such a sweet deal as 62.5% more starting chips for a mere 2.7% additional entry fee?) added another
1460 entries * $30 per entry = $43,800 to the rake.
Total Casino gross = $189,800 for running one poker tournament.
Yeah, they have a lot of expenses, I know. Times are tough all over.
Streaming video must really be expensive or something.

Bay 101 brings in 2p2'er veeRob to live stream a feature table at the WPT Shooting Star. The room already has wi-fi so that makes it easier.

I don't know how much it would cost to bring in veeRob, but I'm guessing it's less than a small fortune.

They were streaming it on the tv screens in the poker room so I dont see why they wouldnt have it for view over the net.

I've played with the guy who won in multiple tourneys including this one on sunday. Very good LAG player, imo. Knows how to shift gears very well

Which is why their official terminology for it changed from "dealer toke" to "optional bonus"? I wouldn't be pretty sure of anything they do with that money.

But hey, let's be honest - the House the Arena is in cost a lot of Wampum to build... so as long as the local folk are willing to pay for it... all the power to em!

Coverage really sucked late. Was annoying. The guy who won the tourney busted me in a 2.7m chip pot with 35 left. I had 49.6% equity, so it's hard not to be pretty salty when he won the tourney afterwards.

My roommate got 17th though so at least we (kinda) crushed it. I wouldn't mind coming back next year but they seriously need someone who knows what they're doing to design the payout structure. It was a complete joke this year.
