The tournament starts early and they will start opening cash games as soon as tables start breaking.

Your best bet is calling the podium. In years past I decided to come in late afternoon and found that cash games were only shut for a few hours.

Are we allowed to call the podium and put ourselves on the list?

Unless something has changed with new management, the answer is no.

Riess, Hellmuth, David Williams, Dennis Phillips, Tiffany Michelle, etc. Oh My! The jackpot fund has been liquidated.

Hellmuth is MC. He's interesting and entertaining. If they pay any of the rest of them more than a comped burrito, it's too much.

Wow, the all-time bracelet leader and the reigning world champion both at little old caz. I would like to play but we are really busy at work and l already took a sick day this week that probably looks bad even though I really am sick. Making day 2 could be problematic. Then again, I really didn't like how Riess came off on tv and would love to get some of his money.

Decisions decisions.

Welp. I'm here for tournaments. Who wants to meet for food at some point?

One qualifier - when you slide your card you pick the stakes you want to play not the specific table - unless it has changed in the last couple of months (I'll find out this weekend I guess).

PSA: Be very careful if you're buying a tournament ticket. Had a situation at my starting table where two people had a ticket for the same seat, with the same name on it. The guy who was already seated said he lost his ticket earlier in the week and had to get a replacement. Apparently someone must have found it on the floor and sold it to this poor woman. Would highly recommend only buying tickets from people you know / trust.

That is really slimy. Hopefully she was sold the ticket on casino property and can recall the approximate time so they can identify the scumbag.

I'd have thought no one would be dumb enough to pull this kind of thing within view of casino cameras but about a month ago the cameras at another local casino were able to see a woman stealing my phone off the table in the food court. It was a beat up flip phone that costs 30 bucks new at Wal-Mart. If someone's dumb enough to risk being seen on camera for that piece of junk, maybe the guy who sold this ticket is also.

I'm not playing tournament, but games were awesome last night, they bagged up around 10 PM, but when I got in at 7 pm there were a zillion cash games, so my guess is that cash games got rolling in late afternoon. Due to the volume of players, they are serving a limited menu w/appetizers only, which I kind of understand, but service was still decent.

And because I love this story, I'll post it here too.

Friend of mine is playing tournament, and is moved from broken table to Gobbos table. Gobbo is in 5 seat, my friend gets placed in 3 seat.

So I immediately text my friend.

"3 seat at your table huge fish"

30 seconds later I text him again.

"Oops sorry, thought I was texting gobbo"

Probably not the phone they want, probably the SIM. Hope they caught her and threw her in jail.

I called and reported it stolen to the phone company half an hour after she took it and they shut it off. No calls were made before I did. I guess if she wants my contacts and such that's fine. I used the opportunity to finally upgrade to a smartphone.

They said she walked straight out after she took it. She hadn't used a player's card in any machines before she took it so they couldn't catch her that way. They said they'd catch her if she ever returns but not exactly sure how. Maybe they have pictures posted of suspected people or something. Not really worth the follow up for a cheap phone but would be for a 1k ticket.

Yes cash games stayed open all day actually on Friday. Limited to start the day, of course, but we were down to 200 people in the tourney by mid afternoon, which meant plenty of tables running for cash games.

I had the pleasure of playing with Reiss the Beast to end the day. Although it was a terrible seat draw for me moving to the table with one of the chip leaders on my left, then Reiss on his left, it was a lot of fun.

Hoping Sat and Sun are even busier for tournament buy ins (usually are) so we have a nice total field and prize pool overall! Good luck to anyone playing and already on to day 2...see ya there!

Probably sold it for less then a $100. Yes, it's definitely scummy. But if you're willing to buy basically a tournament buy-in receipt? Come on.

A lot of the poker scams that everyone harps on are simply scumbags taking advantage of people's lack of common sense.

People sell "basically a tournament buy in receipt" on the up and up all day every day in this room once the satellites start running. It's very easy to take advantage of an unsuspecting victim because of that fact.

What's the point of highlighting lack of common sense over a POS scammer in this instance? Any instance?

I guess this is just me harping on defending scammers.

No, I hear you, but the whole "You get what you pay for"/"if its too good to be true,.." sayings runs through my mind.

I'd like to know what the receipt was sold for. But regardless its wrong.

But, I guess my point was, most scammers are bad poker players, but decent/semi-good scammers cause they pray on the weak.

Just tired of hearing about poker players scamming.
