What is meant by 'warm-up' events? There is only the big tourney and the sng's to play for an entry and the room's regular daily tourneys afaik. Call the room at 480 850-7777 and ask to make sure.

I didn't know either and, I'm there 4-5 days a week. I agree with Howard, wouldn't hurt to advertise to the captive poker audience occasionally.

If you have any sort of tournament game, you should take it upon yourself to advertise these tournaments to people at your table.

The room manager retired, apparently bec of some serious and sad personal family problems. I wish him all the best.

Personally I'd rather be out of the football pool and buy my own food than pay a jackpot drop.

I really want to improve the tournaments here...I hate playing them because those tournaments are meant to chop at the FT...its impossible to play down to a winner. Chip leader never has over 15bbs after 4th hr.

Unfavorable rumors like CAZ hiring Hellmuth to come for the tourney?

I heard that one last night - a friend who writes for several local/regional publications said "You really ought to play the State Championship - Phil Helmuth will be there and they probably will put a bounty on him for the tourney". Can't say I find it that much of an attraction.

A lot better than Tiffany Michelle, but also a lot more expensive than her.

Hell mouth did tweet he is coming. I don't believe he was hired in any way though as of yet. They are looking for someone to announce the final table. The best idea that I've heard floated is Tom Schneider

@pope. I too have heard rumors but, NOW is not the time to react. It is my opinion that it will be months before they fill the position. When they do, the new manager will be looking for ways to make the room better as well as increase revenue. Lets see how it plays out first. Rumors often turn out to be false anyway.

Because now everybody is talking about Phil helmuth for 2 weeks straight.

The timeline to fill the position is up in the air, otherwise very well stated losboy.

There will be opportunities for players and employees to offer opinion and suggestions. Don't get ahead of yourselves with the rumors.

In the coming weeks, expect to see some changes, its inevitable. We can make this a positive transition by handling it the right way.

Do you find it more effective to offer opinions via an email, typed letter to management, petition, or just voice opinions in person?

This is my opinion:
You must be sincere in your approach, dont be demanding or condescending. It doesn't hurt to speak with a shift manager in person. Personally I would hand write or type a letter and sign it. I would hand that letter to a shift manager and ask them to pass it along through the chain of command allowing anyone who may have some opinion or influence consider it.
A letter signed by multiple people is fine, but be careful of a "petition", as they can be( often are) interpreted as a strong arm attempt to take control or make a change and often have little or the opposite effect of point(s)intended.

Emails are impersonal and often can get lost in the forwarding process unless you have the specific email address of the person you are trying to reach.

Phil is actually a pretty good announcer for things like that. I saw him "emcee" a charity tournament and he wasn't half bad at all.

Maybe a month ago I asked to speak to the poker room manager about an issue and was told he had been out for several weeks and it was not known when he would return. Now it seems he will not be returning at all. Who exactly is making decisions about the room now?
