Seems completely fine to me.

And it's supposed to be same or smaller game. Not once moving from 20 to the mix game have I gotten in for free.

That is the right rule - I clarified that above.

You are in the minority in thinking it’s completely fine.

Here is another great one that happened today. I show up and I am third on the list for the 20 game, there is no 20 game running and I put my name on the lower lists. Floor doesn’t ask me how many I need to start a game (which is atypical). About a half hour later I’m still not in a game and they call down the list with 6 people on it. They call me for 8/16 at the same time. I pass by the podium on the way to the cage and tell them I will take the 20 and not the 8/16. Shift manager says “ok thanks for letting me know”. I get chips and when I get to the table (about 3-4 minutes after they have called down the list), I’ve found that they already started the game heads up with two of the mix game guys. I didn’t get to draw for the button or anything. The floor tells me “you don’t have to play” and “if two people want to start heads up”, I have to let them.

Wtf?

Talk to the shift manager about your concerns. These rulings are awful.
06-30-2019 , 08:30 PM
I could care less if they get in for free as long as they aren’t going to angle four free hands and leave. That makes them ****s. There are - bunch of Games around where new players can enter in co for free initially.

Could or couldn't care less?

The rule seems fine to me. Turn it around: You just posted your blinds and a game breaks. There is some sense in which you've "already paid" for your round of action. It's not entirely absurd that you shouldn't have to pay the blinds "again" sitting down somewhere else.

Unless this is a common occurrence, they're getting about how many "free" hands per month? Maybe like 5? How much anger is it really worth?

That being said, it's still a bit of an angle. If they're doing this with any type of consistency, a conversation with the floor about the behavior really ought to be enough to put an end to it.

What happens if you change the player? Let's say that the whale wants to sit down for 3 hands without posting the blind, but will walk if he has to pay the blinds. Do you want him to sit down or not?

Unlimited hold em Two limps sb completes I check 87o bb

(20) 962r

Check, I bet 20, btn calls

(60) T

I bet 60, he calls with 265 left

(180) 5

I go all in he snaps with JT

EZ game this unlimited hold em. You just bet 1.5x pot on the river with the nuts and no bluffs in your range and they call anyway.

Encore encore encore!

Oh good morning.

Nh jdr. He put you on QJ obviously.

Beat: I 6 bet with top 2 vs a naked overpair on the turn a couple days ago. Counterfeit on the river.

Brag: placed 6/95 in a 100x gtd $100 tourney Sunday night.

Variance: only had 16% of myself.

Also I was accused of cheating by a hu limit holdem opponent the other day. If they’re not swearing at you in the chatbox you’re doing it wrong.

Nothing close to a hu player and, yet, this seems right. Speaking of which...

I had my hand retrieved from the muck saturday to win a 14BB hu (button v bi) pot in stud.

"It's nothing against you," I was shouted at by my opponent, "but I've never seen that in 40 years of playing poker!" Indeed.

Not true. You can move to a game with equal or lower blinds without posting

If it was 6-handed, then 9-handed, then 5-handed, then I don't see how that's at all tenuous and isn't really short-handed either.

I think the answer is the floor should have realized what was going on and not moved a player.

The getting in for free at a smaller game is fine, but the people that do it just for a few hands are huge nits. I don't think it's unethical or an angle.

You've never played in a game where people don't like to play short? I personally don't mind it, but it has been very rare that I've played in a 5 handed game at night that wasn't on the edge of breaking.
07-03-2019 , 12:16 AM
I used to play in those games a lot, but I always found myself getting buttoned or worse and now I only play with people that I know will give a warning before they quit.

As a proud huge nit, I would never do this. And I do think it's unethical.

Yeah, I clarified that this is the right rule above.

5 handed isn’t short handed? Well I dunno what is then. And you are nuts if you don’t think five handed games are tenuous - they either fill or break in my experience. At the stakes and times I play no one is playing five handed for extended periods

Yeah I know I'm just being a curmudgeon because 20/40+ players really should not be afraid of playing 5-handed, and yet they are (during the day at Canterbury).

I've literally seen 7 morning players with chips on the table waiting on more players to start.

But I wouldn't really blame the 40 guys for your game not being able to handle 1 player moving. And the floor really didn't need to be so quick on the draw on this one when they knew the game wouldn't stay full.
