I only loosely know how to play PLO.

Standard?
It's way higher variance than limit and nl hold'em so seems possible. I've also heard ability of the typical player is much lower, super fishy pool.

+1

Also, plo plays much bigger than nlhe and the stakes hf played were high (esp w the 3rd blind). 2/2/5 plo is like 10/20 nlhe or 50/100 lhe, Iíd guess. A lot of the variance results bc the preflop equities run much closer in PLO. Postflop, getting it in against a somewhat reasonable player and being greater than a 2/1 favorite is rare. Knowing these things makes me feel a whole lot better that Iíve prob lost more at plo than any other game haha

The few times I've played there is much much less preflop aggression at PLO cash vs. NLH.

Re: 2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

QQ, AQo x2, TT, AKs, AJs all didn't pan out within one hour. I might've misplayed one, the rest just ran bad. Crashed down 30 BB after a big heater last session.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to deposit on ACR. Regulators telling me I have to go play a bigger higher variance game instead of playing online is like making cocaine legal but keeping weed illegal.

.... oh I actually have an irl friend who can do that too. Sometimes I miss the painfully obvious.

In other news, I got my old account back. DrHoldem no more, now back to Reaper! DougL is the man!

No third blind - these games are all 1-2 or 2-2, but it is $5 to call PF or max raise is $15. Definitely more action and variance, but doesnít play as big as you
are thinking. Probably between 2-5 and 5-10 nl and 10-20 and 15-30 lhe pot size wise.

This is MN?
Same rules as Arizona SL games or true PLO up there?

Re: 2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

Played the 8/16 at Canterbury for a couple hours last night. It was the game I was looking for: multiple 1k+ stacks, chips flying, people pushing. Played my regular game and wasn't the fish at the table for once. Nice double-up and leave in under 2 hours.

Ah gotcha, I misinterpreted the ď2/2/5Ē. Iíd agree w the stakes comparisons.

I used to play in a mix game that no longer runs, w a 40bb-75bb cap in the big bet games. I didnít think the 40 bb cap allowed for enough postflop maneuvering, esp in 3 bet pots, but I liked the 60 bb cap

Yeah the buyin cap for this was $200-500, which seemed small but the way it played there were multiple $2-3k stack very quickly.

First hand was a ďbombĒ pot where everyone puts in $10 pf, they deal two boards and the action starts on the flop. I had something like AKQ7 ds, flopped top two on one board, top pair plus nfd on the other board and got it in 5 ways on the flop. Lol.

Haha.

The signal to noise ratio is already too low for me at work and in limit hold'em. I don't need even more ambiguity in my life.

But I agree top two on one board and top pair + nut flush draw on the other sounds much better than 1 in 5. All I remember from the Omaha book I read was "when drawing, draw to the nuts".

It brings to mind euro rounders.

It this instance we can be up against sets on both boards and brick everything to be 100% wrong. When guy actually scooped when his set held and he somehow backdoored a straight on the other board. Thankfully we ran better after that first hand.

Re: 2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

11 days of NC thread on this last page... I see things haven't changed much since I last came in here.

Seems like mostly names from what was the Small Stakes and not as much the Microstakes peeps I knew, but I recognize some names still.

Might pop in here now and again, but I'm mostly (i.e. more than once in the last week or so) posting in Live Low Stakes NL or whatever it's called so I might instead just bite the bullet and start posting in their NC thread there.

Anyways, pop over and tell me how crap I play NL if you want.

2 card PLO? You should play in a game where they give you all 4 cards.

2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

Feels pretty good, especially after an extended bad run. I was in the middle of my third losing month of the year already and this is my job so Iím hardly praising the Poker Gods right now, especially since I was playing down on a Saturday night.

I obviously ran insane, but itís not like nothing bad happened. I lost a massive pot with aces and got overflushed in another big pot - both would be key pots in a typical session.

My previous record at 8/16 was +$2377. Itís my 8th session of +$1700 or more at 8/16 since start of 2015 and I mostly moved out of the limit in 2017.

Pretty sick.

Interestingly, I have never won this much in a 20/40 session, but I did win $6754 in a 15/30 session once.

Edit: Palace in Tacoma area. No kill. I did hit four high hands for about $900 net though.
