Hopefully if they can't get Lynch to direct an episode next season, they can at least get him to design several chairs.

WWZ is taking a different approach to the book. Thats basically all i know but its not a direct transfer of the book to the screen.

Anyway, someone did a highlight reel for the show:

(all zombie deaths)

The Globes are now deader to me that your dead mother.

TV Series, Drama:
Mad Men
Dexter
Boardwalk Empire
The Good Wife
The Walking Dead

Admittedly i dont watch the other three shows, but Walking Dead was a B movie brought to TV and Dexter just had its worst year yet.

They basically went for what got a lot of buzz and likely didnt even watch the shows.

Same goes for TV comedy where Community is making every critics top 5 list of comedy shows and they picked Nurse Jackie (not a comedy) and Glee (spawn of the devil). Oh and Parks and Rec deserves inclusion too.

I will give them props for nominating Piper Perabo for Best Actress, TV Drama. Odd choice but i really like it.

they must have submitted the premiere to award shows in the midst of the Halloween hysteria, b/c this being nominated for anything other than "Best show about Zombies on Cable" is a joke.

the movie acting noms are a friggen joke. lol @ Johnny Depp twice, Alice in Wonderland and Red being nominated

Just watched all 6 eps in the last few days. Amazing how great the premiere was, then how fast the rest of the episodes went downhill.

So the very opening scene of the first episode - where Rick is driving (a Sheriff's car) down a long road, gets out with a portable gas can, walks through a bunch of deserted cars and tents by a gas station, and meets and kills the zombie little girl - was that scene never tied in? Is that supposed to have taken place after all the events of the entire season?

That "happened" chronologically towards the end of the first episode, before he gets the horse.

meh, this show aint as bad as you all make it out to be.
I think I am interested in the extent of the zomvbie takeover. Like is it all over USA, north America, world etc...

S1 could be a focus on the micro region: atlanta
S2: a search and discovery of a human society in georgia. find area w/ human population ~200ish
S3: transport to washington DC, the military center of the US resistance. light is shed on the global situation, possible cures.
S4: zombie take over of washington DC, discovery that cure exists and works
S5: ???
The Walking Dead Quote

S5: Cast members recount the loss of a loved one from S1. Plus, Rockin Granny brings peace to the Middle East.

S6: Merle returns. Black dude and son kill him for being racist. Boondocks kills black kid, full on mortal combat with Jericho guy. Helicopter flies by and a grenade falls out of it. Rick puts it in his pocket and it stays there until he needs it in the finale.

WRT the broken RV hose, I bet they filmed the two guys coming back with a fix, but because the episode needed to be a certain length, that bit got cut. They didn't have any other coverage shot to show why everyone stopped in the first place, so I bet in the editing room they had to just skip the uninteresting bit of fixing the hose, and accept the small plot jump. It was pretty glaring, but I wouldn't necessarily blame the writers for that one.

Just watched all 6 episodes. Rick's character just gets annoying after like the second episode and how many times did they have to hold Daryl back from killing someone?

Also why in all these post-apocalyptic zombie films/TV shows are the last human strongholds in random places like Ga, Fl, or Ca? Wouldn't you think it'd be in washington DC? How is the president dead, but these randos are still alive?

Also lol at their amazing marksmanship; running one-handed headshots with magnum revolvers.

It was a radiator hose.

RV overheats, they stop for a while, it cools, they keep going.

watched it over the last two days and enjoyed it. just reading the last page though seems like most didn't. maybe my expectations for this kind of series are just so low that I was pleasantly surprised but I'll definitely be tuning in for S2.

Daryl repeatedly having to be held back was annoying, and the deal they made out of Andrea's character grieving over her sisters death was really annoying.

I'm not picking on you, but I hate the "my expectations were low so I was pleased with the outcome." If anything the first episode was so freaking awesome it raised the bar, got us excited for an incredible new series, then we were let-down with stupid **** like the sister's storyline, the Lost parallel, weak dialogue. Stories with incredible potential were ignored (the boy and his father, the racist one handed guy).

I'm not Dids-OOTV worthy, so you'll have to explain why you hate what I said. I agree with you that the premiere blew me away, and it got worse. I liked how they handled Merle's story. I really doubt they're going to just ignore that forever in LOST-esque fashion, they only had 6 episodes to work with.

To me the attitude "I had such low expectations I liked it," is basically a free pass to say I like the show no matter what they crank out. Let's take an extremely bad personal example. I liked the movie Crank (laugh it up ya jerks), and was genuinely excited for Crank 2. Crank 2 was absolute trash (many could argue the first was trash), but my friend really liked it. His reason, "I had low expectations so I liked it." He did not provide any reasons why he liked it, merely "I had low expectations..." I have seen this many times via twitter/fb/message boards where crap gets passed as "good" because the reviewer had low expectations.

At the very least you have a time and maybe $ invested in said experience, you should at least expect to be entertained and enjoy the movie/show.
