The show is enjoyable enough that I'll keep watching, but I understand that it's not a very good show right now.
aside from the extremely lame social cometary, as pointed out previously, it is pretty damn stupid that the CDC base runs off of oil and a very limited amount at that. The combination just keeps slapping you in the face and at least for me was a distraction.

How hard is it to have the base Nuke powered and still have the crazy scientist guy lock everyone in/initiate sterilization? I'm not saying I love that idea, just that you could easily make the transition. "Why am I killing you all?" Why am I killing you all when we could live down here for 20 years? What is the point? The world is gone! I've got news for you bleepers, they aren't The Walking Dead, WE ARE!" Then Shane is like 'I will roshambo you for the code' and then he just kicks him in the nuts and they break down the steel door with a chair.

Out of interest what are alternative power sources (apart from nuclear which seems far fetched) and how much longer than a month would they last.

Of course could have had some renewables, but assuming crazy fossil fuel, how long will that last?

A generator needing pump out that much juice would seem to need a lot of fuel imvlo.

I'd assume a place like the CDC has some serious backup power sources that would last at least a year. They may even have nuclear there, I dunno, never been there so I have no idea what the building is like. They probably have some large batteries and I am sure the entire facility is programmed to allocate only necessary power throughout the entire facility in case of a complete power outage. The whole plan is probably super top secret, as silly as that sounds.

This was lol-irl bad, along with the incredibly awkward shower montage that ended with the ridiculous shot of Shane and his bottle of wine.

This episode probably could have been just fine if they had some decent actors- as somebody said last week, these stiffs just don't have the chops for drama.

I'll watch every episode until it goes off the air, though. The small chance of Zombie awesomeness each week/hints of brilliance in the first episode are enough to keep me going.

That was so bad I think I'm going to watch it again and make a list of all the bad.

Do you think they were trying to be funny by making it that the French last the longest before giving up?

Reminded me of the scene in Office Space when Michael Bolton started punching the printer after he, Samir, and Peter already went at it with their feet and baseball bat. I half expected to hear "Back up in your ass with the Resurrection..."

Also, in "oops riting is hard huh" news, there's all this "OMG THERES NO ONE BUT US" fatalism and nobody thinks to mention that they are literally within walking distance of a group of like 50 people living in a nursing home.

I understand your other complaints but this is dumb. The old guy had already discussed his bond with blonde girl. And T-Bone made a small attempt to dissuade black chick.

Seriously, even in a TV landscape where there's not a ton of good stuff on, Sunday at 9 was busy as hell. Next Iron Chef had that time slot as well.

You seriously think this actually supports your argument?

He clearly doesn't care about them living or dying, why let them in at all? He could have just as easily left them outside.
My thoughts on why he lets them in (could be both reasons or just one):

a) He wants some human contact for the last day of his life. He's been going nuts by himself.

b) As he explained to the group, dying in the explosion will be much better than dying out in zombie world. He may have felt he was doing them a favor.

Ok and now he wants to blood test them all? WHY? Who cares if they are all infected, the entire building is blowing up in a few hours, why does it matter?
Again, he wants to die a quick, painless death. He doesn't want the horror of a mini zombie epidemic in his secured facility during his final day alive. At the very least, he wants everyone else do die painlessly, rather than dying from the virus or from an axe to the head.

I was thinking the same thing. This is also why I'd be of the mindset to take my chances out in the world. There is obviously at least one organized group of survivors nearby, so there are likely other groups in the area/state/country/world.

I didn't say the establishment of the bond made sense or was believable, just that it made sense for the old guy to stay with blondie, and the only person we have seen the black chick bond with, maybe with the exception of battered woman who obviously can't leave her child, is a zombie now.

a scene with some Dick Cheney look a like VP getting eaten at his oilfield ranch would have taken the series a bit over the top i guess

We all know Cheney isn't a good shot, he got killed early on.

I thought this was a thinly veiled "we have fighting spirit!" claim to Darabonts ancestors as I knew he was born in a refugee camp in France, but researching it turns out they were Hungarian immigrants. Think it's probably some sort of backlash against the cheese eatin surrender monkey stereotype planted in his history more than humor because it didn't feel funny, then again who knows with these writers.

Grimes never bothers asking where the **** his surely incredibly valuable grenade went when it vanishes after having his clothes washed?

At least Darabont wasn't behind camera directing T-Dog to do a stereotypically black persons excited dance in the shower like he did with the kid on ep one.

The French stuff felt in line with the writers constant need to try to blow the audiences mind by shattering stereotypes.

ZOMG what if latino gang bangers are actually sweethearts and good guys? ZOMG what if the French are resourceful and brave? ZOMG what if the smart asian kid is just a pizza delivery guy?

Feels like something a junior high student would do in an attempt to be clever.

I cracked up when you can see the southern white dude in the background just pounding away at the door with a fireaxe while they're having a conversation.

What finale? I read about it getting a 2nd season before the premiere even aired.

More nitpicks from last night's ep:
- The opening scene of the hospital getting overrun was HILARIOUS. Soldiers executing people left and right with machine guns...but OH NOES THE DOORS OPEN AND SLOW-WALKING ZOMBIES ARE JUST DECIMATING THE SOLDIERS WHO SUDDENLY SEEM POWERLESS TO FIGHT BACK! There's a reason zombie movies skip over the "how the world got like this in the first place" part - because it's ridiculous, and Sunday's episode showed why.
- Everyone at CDC supposedly offing themselves when they had the option of staying inside a secure fortress with food/drink, comfortable living space, and perhaps the ability to do something about what was going on outside seems ridiculous.
