I thought it was pretty awesome. Once you drop reality and common sense from the equation its fun to watch. I pretty much do this for all horror movies tho so quit being nits.

I know this is OOT, NOT POSSIBLE.

Scenes in any post-disaster movie/show where a character is irrationally holding on to one now-useless thing from the pre-disaster world (like a watch) and explains himself in a "moving" way are so ****ing tilting.

I loved this episode .. looking forward to next week already.

I thought if you died of bites by bleeding out, you're just dead. If you get infected by a bite and survive the bite, you get the illness/fever that deteriorates into becoming a zombie. So that girl's sister is just dead, no chance of being a zombie.

Like seriously they just have a camp with no people on watch? ****ing ******s.

The blonde chick having an emotional mourning scene with her sister makes very little sense in a post-zombie apocalypse world, as was apparently everyone else sobbing over that chick but not the other 5 people who got eaten. Also if the audience was supposed to care we probably should've had more than 1 scene with the younger sister.

P.S. Don't people who die of bites come back as zombies?
This really really annoyed me, she's ****ing just lying in front of her with her blood all over her and over is just standing there watching, man just shoot both of them in the head or something.

Oh and the nice mexicans sideplot was ****ing ******ed

The black dude in the beginning described what happened to his wife. She died first and then came back as one of them. Not sure if she bleed out first but Im assuming the sister will come back as a zombie.

that episode was painful to watch. every character is a really poorly written version of a stereotype. plucky asian kid, cholo mexicans (just misunderstood), white trash racists, token black guy. and the wife's dear in the headlights acting was annoying the f out of me

Also what was the deal with the white kid acting Hispanic and a black guy being the head Mexican? That whole subplot felt forced, like they changed their mind halfway through the script about whether they were good guys or bad guys.

Am I the only one who wishes the show was about those guys, though? That custodian seems like a way better leader than any of the main group, he turned a retirement home into a fortress and has the gang members fixing up cars and helping the old people.

I might turn into a 2p2 nit since I immediately thought of the BE criticasters for being too dumbed down/not subtle enough in some scenes, one example is after making it superclear in the openinscene that both sisters were many years apart, they throw in a line specifically stating they were "twelve years apart" for some reason.
Don't even want to think about plotholes etc since Im sure there are tons of it and don't care much.

find it enjoyable tho, only thing reallly annoying me are the commercial break cuts (they are really abrupt/not smooth). Not used to those kind of cuts after watching HBO for that long.

Seriously though I think I can enjoy this show now that I know it isn't going to be the wire or west wing of zombie apocalypse. Smart move, introduce G, crush expectations, win.

Not enjoying this very much, unfortunately. I mean, there's stuff I love in every episode, but then there's stuff that really makes me cringe.

I loved the comics, but unless there's some sort of overhaul, I might not stick around for season 2. Comics stuff:

Spoiler:
It seems like most of the stuff I hate, I don't even remember seeing in the comics. It's been quite a while, so maybe my memory's just bad, but I have no memory of Racist Guy, Wife-beater Guy, or Hispanic Nursing Home Gang. Those are the plot/character related things that have bugged me the most, and the fact that they were (maybe?) created just for the show worries me about whoever has creative control here.

I realize many things in the comics just wouldn't work in a live action format, due to scope or cheesiness in a different format or whatever. But the changes I've seen haven't felt inspired at all.

wrt to dying and then becoming a zombie, I read on a dif forum from someone that read the comics that (spoilered):

Spoiler:
In the comics, everyone left alive is infected already—they speculate that the virus that causes reanimation is spread through the air or water or something. Anyway, it lies dormant in the body until one dies, at which point that person reanimates as a zombie.

I don't think it ever affects the plot too much, really, but they only figure it out when someone who commits suicide suddenly reanimates despite never being bitten.

Agreed, this is becoming a pretty great show if you go along for the ride and don't pick it apart too much. Ending scene was really masterfully done imo.

Certainly never go anywhere by yourself, even if it's just to pee. I'm theorizing this is why women always go to the bathroom in pairs in our real world -- advance training for the zombie apocalypse.

Hispanic nursing home gang is just ******ed and really makes me wonder wtf the writers are thinking. Pretty demoralizing and not a great omen for the future.

edit: ending scene was really good though.

Lolz, i liked that.

I also lol at Fly being pissed about them dying cos they are stupid. As i said before that is the whole point and now they are dead it reinforces what i said. This also explains how they introduced a huge cast list and didnt both explaining more about them. Their entire border security consisted of a few tin cans strung up here and there. And thats it. Their entire existence is to be a lesson about survival (to both the audience and the cast).

Frankly im over the moon that stupid people will have short lives in the show.

The only thing id nit about is they went to find the brother, spend half the ep not finding him, then they met the faux gang and the other brother musta been like "**** it, lets just go home" so they do. Oh and then they decide to hike it home instead of stealing another van because the one handed dude is gonna go ******* so they gotta hurry or something.

But whatever, its a ****ing zombie film stretched out to be a series so stop expecting character depth like from the wire.

40 minutes of suck saved by 5 minutes of awesome. The opening fishing scene was poor and gave me no reason to care about the characters which made the ending 1 minute crying scene just painfully bad. Mexican nurse gang, old man's story time and gravedigger guy were all bad. I'm so disappointed since after the pilot I really thought this would be excellent.

One thing I'll say for this show is that I have never wanted an entire cast of characters to be ripped to pieces so badly. The show started horribly with the sisters getting into the minutiae of knots and what they probably symbolized about their childhoods. But just when I thought the writing couldn't get any worse they hit us with the old folks home gang lead by "g" the gangsta a** custodian who keeps it real you can tell because of how many times he and his homies say "esse" (sp?).

I am to the point where I am certain this show is a level and they are purposely writing badly in order to make the zombie carnage more satisfying. You have no idea how badly I wanted dead sister to insta-change into a zombie and suck out her sisters eyes just to be rid of one more atrocious character.

Note to the show's writers: every cliched character that you write doesn't have to be undone by some unrealistic to the point of being awkward twist. The asian kid doesn't have to be a pizza guy just to shatter our expectations that he is probably a rocket scientist because ldo he's asian.

We don't need the tatted up latino gang bangers to care for the elderly and we don't need marginally attractive women to catch bucket loads of fish and debate the technical points of dry lures vs wet to undertsand that, sure, women aren't ONLY good at giving blowjobs and baking brownies.

At least we can count on you not to shatter any of our prejudices about southern white males. I am a little dissapointed though that there are no gay people yet in the show. I think maybe you should re-do the next episode and have a gay muslim save the life of the ingorant racist guy who sawed his hand off. If you are looking for anymore great ideas that I feel would really mesh well with the tone of your show feel free to pm me here.

+1 to this. The show is just incredibly bad (apart from the pretty good pilot), and no I didn't expect The Wire - why would I expect that? I did expect it to at least not be like some nauseatingly American family show (and even for this genre the writing and acting would be sub-par) whenever there isn't zombie slaughter.

Edit: and all napoelandolemite said above

I'm probably reading way too much between the lines, but weren't we led to assume that the group of zombies was brought back in the truck by the brother?
