I agree. It's also kind of a cheat to build a villain off of racism. Just seems like the lazy route instead of developing more complex yet still hateable attributes. Having said that, when he had the gun to the black dude's face I was really really hoping Grime's was going to blow his head off from off screen.

That Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal movie Brothers.

Well, it's certainly more interesting than the cardboard cutout racist guy. I didn't read the scene in the car in the first episode where they are talking about relationship problems the same way as some people itt, i.e. that the partner already had his sights set on the wife. I just read it as two good friends commiserating. And that with the bringing Grimes the flowers scene, he seemed like a pretty sympathetic character. So, I'm not sold on he's going to turn into a villain. Like someone else said, they're surviving in the woods in a zombi apocalypse and they presumably think he's dead. How are they not gonna bone? Seems forgivable to me. Plus he's being a father figure to the kid and ****.

I think the fact that the black guy went back to try to save him means he has some redeemable attributes we don't know about yet.

Bill Murray agrees...

One thing that drives me nuts about these shows is people who are at all cavalier about safety during the zombie apocalypse (etc) should just be fed directly to the zombies before they get everyone else killed. And we've already seen quite a bit of that in camp especially from the wife.

I realize that these are not professional soldiers or anything and I know "people are stupid" but the lack of common sense and any survival instinct can be just astonishing. Then again, I've sat through enough episodes of "I shouldn't be alive" (etc) (my wife loves those shows) that I guess it really shouldn't be a surprise.

Yeah, and I hate when casting directors give away the plot like that. Rooker is the biggest star on the show, no way they hired him for 6 minutes of screen time.

Standard example is the move Collateral where the mystery of Jada Pinkett's character's involvement evaporates as soon as you're like "Hey that's Jada Pinkett!"

It wasn't just racism, it was racist + druggie + stupid + violent + crude (hey let's bump uglies). They might as well have had him molesting kids and assisting terrorists too.

Partner's "villianous" storyline is much more interesting and real life believable too.

I try not to nit too much of the people being dumb and getting killed stuff, but they still gotta keep it somewhat in the realm of reality.

Also, once you figured out that coating yourself in zombie guts was pretty much 100% effective zombie repellent, wouldn't you want to use that like full time? Like you'd want to keep zombie bodies on hand at all time and have them stinkign up your camp, etc. Seems to introduce more problems than anything, oh well I'll get over it.

I don't think the risk/reward is worth it unless you have no other choice, as they did. They were clear that if you get any of that blood in your eye, it's zombie-time.

Also there are other health issues with surrounding yourself with rotting corpses.

Good point, ya if a bite or a scratch can infect you then rolling the guts certainly would have a high possibility of doing so also.

i dont buy the whole "its a zombie show, you cant nit" thing. I was kinda hoping with a series they could expand the genre and not just have trope after trope in every episode. The acting and dialogue was terrible for the most part. As has been said before the racist guy was absolutely terrible.

The real killer for me though is when characters behave in ridiculous ways in order to progress the plot/add tension. Standing in front of the shop window just seems completely stupid, surely being out of sight the zombies would eventually forget, but hey, lets stand there and basically goad them as they try to smash through that window. Also 'hey im just going off into the woods by myself, back soon guys!' thing is just awful, surely if youre being that stupid these people wouldnt have survived upto this point.

Nitting is a hobby in ootv.. nice

Hey, I know, let's make a show where every character is a genius that makes correct decisions at every turn! Imagine the excitement! Imagine a bunch of characters soo smart that they never EVER have to confront (or even see) a single zombie!

Spoiler:
Then it'd be like "these guys are cowards! what?! not ONE zombie kill!! fffffffffffuuuuuuuuu!!!
