Veronica Mars is good but I liked DLM more. SoA is better than both.

Veronica Mars (especially the first season, and IMO also the second) is excellent. Haven't seen either SoA or DLM, though DLM is one of the shows I plan on after I catch up with Breaking Bad.

jesus.. only 3 mentions of rome when i searched this thread?

just reminding, everyone has to see this if you haven't watched it. plethora of sex, violence, and a great story arch, aired on HBO. must watch if you haven't seen it, its greatness. that is all. (on blu-ray if you are a HD whore too btw)

I hated Rome. It was just gratuitous, there wasn't much point in it at all. This wouldn't have been a problem if it had any style or storytelling flair. It didn't. Thought it was a bland, stale show.

I watched the first 2 eps a year ago and gave up because it wasn't grabbing me at all... hadn't really considered giving it another shot.

i loved rome cept the end of a scene where it gets over the top ''here comes the giant boss'-ish.

I think I watched the first 3 or 4 eps, whatever comes on the first DVD. Didn't care to finish.

I thought Rome was awesome, I can't watch anything about Rome now because it's all so inferior to this series, particularly in production value and acting, but in level of entertainment too imo. The guy who played Caesar was A+

I, Claudius. Doesn't have the production value - it looks like a soap opera - but it's awesome.

I tried (own it actually), but the low budgetness and slower pace kept making me fall asleep

just struggled through the first season of carnivale. extremely slow-paced with no big suspenseful reveals about the mythology and mystery like lost had. and i could really do without all the sex scenes between carnie folk - a blind man going down on a fat bearded lady...no thanks.

i watched both seasons of rome. i wanted to like it, but just couldn't. titus and lucius were the only entertaining characters, and that would've been ok if they had more screentime. but they were just overshadowed by constant stories about how everyone is a scheming politician/soldier/merchant/whore. and again with the excessive sex scenes - i don't need to see a guy's ass every five minutes.

the 3rd season really suffered because they were on the verge of cancellation all the way through so had to cut story arcs short but i really really like the first 2 seasons. The characters are so well done and i thought they handled the mysteries pretty well.

V-Mars is the best drama of all time...fo reals.

Just finished Party Down. It's definitely worth the watch (and it's pretty easy to breeze through all 20 episodes).

Yeah, s3 was a bit of a downer due to the mini mysteries being pretty weak...the characters were still great. I really didnt like Piz though

I think I turned Rome off approximately 10 minutes into the first episode due to sheer boredom. On a semi-related note, I recently watched Spartacus: Blood and Sand & thought it was pretty good.

Rome season 1 was good, not sure if finished season 2 though, i remember it being really disjointed and not interesting. The characters that made season 1 good were either not there anymore, or their story-lines were bad.

Also watched both seasons of SoA, liked it a lot and will be one of the series that i would recommend to people. (Even have had it's theme song as a ring tone for a while now lol).

Man, Weeds' third season is such a cluster****. The first 2 seasons were excellent for the most part. It's just awful now.

I kinda want him to keep watching just to hear his reaction when he gets to the middle of season five.

But seriously, bail now. It's terrible.
