About "Working The Engels":

There is really decent show in here, but it's ruined by the blond daughter and Andrea Martin. Those 2 don't belong in this show, yet. But the stuff with Abigail and the Sudeikis-wannabe has been pretty solid so far. Especially Abigail. Her on the stripper pole was comedically good and sexy as all hell.

Haven't watched an original program on WGN but what do people think about Manhattan? Seems like it could be interesting.

I've seen some banner ads of some clips, and it seems like it has very low production value. Since you're interested, check it out and let us know if you like or dislike it.

Sonia from AVClub gave it a B+, but I'm not sure if it's because the WGN finally has a show that's not ******ed, or if it's an actually good show. I'll hold off until I've heard it's worth it for the entire season.

It was created by a guy who wrote 3 episodes of Masters of Sex. The Pilot's director isn't listed on imdb. If I knew who it was, it would go a long way toward determining the respectability level of the product. Several people in it are who I would call good b-level character actors playing more lead type roles in this show (Hickey is easily the best actor in their listed credits, and he is criminally underrated).

I think Schlamme directed it - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0772095/?ref_=nv_sr_1

With Exec Producer credit, I think you're right. That means they're at least acting like they take it seriously. Unfortunately, a lot of his recent work is very pedestrian (Murder in the First's Pilot is a good example of that). Five years ago, he would have been a huge get, but for whatever reason he's not standing out from the pack these days. It could just mean that there are too many decent film directors working in TV today for a TV guy to stand out anymore.

Just watched it and I think the series has promise.

I just saw a good review of Manhattan. I'll give it a try, love that history.

I just saw a preview for The Quest. Did someone just make up a reality show as a massive troll only to see a network actually buy it?

Mark Ordesky, an executive producer of “The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy, and Jane Fleming, a fellow former executive with New Line Cinema, came up with the idea for “The Quest” after seeing the fun the films’ actors had sword fighting and horseback riding.

I liked the 1st episode. Duck Phillips is a hardass military guy who's running stuff. Oppenheimer guy seemed a little young, did look like him.

Finale for Power tonight. Not bad. Predictable for the most part, but a pretty sweet finish.

Set it up well for a second season.

There was something I noticed that I thought was really weird. The bald kid in the background at Rayna's play was wearing what looked like a fake bald cap. It really stood out to me and I had to rewind to see it again. Seems so strange to me to put a fake bald cap on a background character for no reason at all. I wonder if that's like a makeup budget surplus situation or something lol.

What happens when you put 2 of the best sitcom actors of all time into 1 show?

You end up with one of the worst sitcoms I've seen in quite some time. And I've given just about every single one of them a look. It has the 10/90 model as Anger Management too. 100 eps of this would be a travesty.

Talking 'bout Partners.

episode 2 of Manhattan I thought was better than the first. I'm sold on it.

I knew it wouldn't be very good, but I wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was. This is the equivalent of being a chef and working at McDonalds.

Their promos weren't even promos including clips. I knew it wouldn't be worth any of my time. The back to back one was just effing awful. Those are two guys who evidently need some money.

I seriously doubt they hit the necessary ratings for the extra 90 eps. Not that I'd want anyone out of work, but **** like this needs to be taken out and off the air immediately.

Good things ratings suppliers aren't granting FX's request to not release their ratings. We probably won't find out what they were until late today.

This. I assume this is only 1 season which is good. Trying to drag this out is probably the one sure fire way to ruin it.

WGN has totally botched the handling of that show. It's not even a blip on anyone's radar. I heard last week's episode got a .05, you know like lower than a 0.1 and something like 330k viewers. They don't replay any of the episodes during the week, don't have On Demand, don't have full episodes on their website, and replay the same episode 4 times in a row vs. previous episodes for people who might get into it late. I can evidently see the first episode for free on Amazon, but will probably have to pay for the second. I set a recording for episode 3, but no matter how good it is, it's an absolute disaster on the ratings front. On their website it says, "New Time, Sundays 10/9c", what was it before? Moving it right into The Strain and The Leftovers is just comically bad positioning.

Oh, and for DC, those two comedy "legends" managed to grab a .04 in the 18-49 demo. That's well below the typical line for renewal on FX, though The Americans' renewal at around a 0.4 makes anything possible.

I'd say they're sitcom legends, sans quotes!!

That's a .04 to start, and I'm betting it drops a lot when the next 2 air.
