Just watched the 1st I have recorded and i was pretty impressed. Looks well made and the acting was decent.

Think the wire meets sopranos. If it get half as good as either it will be a solid watch.
Yeah, it's great. One of the best foreign series ever. It's brutal and hard but really well made. Recommended!

BSG is some of the best television ever produced and is only let down by a mediocre final arc. I can't fathom being a sci-fi fan and not being enthralled.
THIS.

sci-fi fan here. BSG is like in the same awesomeness as The Sopranos.

did people really watch the sopranos all the way through?

and if you did and are honest about it, are you sure there wasn't a point around season 4/5 where watching it became more of a chore to be done rather than entertaining television you were looking forward to with anticipation?

Finished season 1 of Broad City and I laughed a TON. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Definitely recommend it (10 ep of 20min each too, so it's quite fast to go through).

Also watching Garfunkle and Oates. It's also funny, in a different way, but I'm not a huge fan of the songs in the middle of the episode. I understand it's a big part of the show, since they are both performers, but I just don't think it fits. The few songs that have happened in the first 3 episodes were all pretty cringe worthy imo, and useless wrt the plot.

Hoping you're gonna quote yourself and add "j/k" real soon.

i gave up on the sopranos in the 4th or 5th season. and i'm not joking. it got boring. galfond was great, and one or two others were good too. but that wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the show

It's no Buffy, that's for sure.

During it's actual run, I was totally in. But on even my first re-watch, there were a lot of scenes and things I could've done without.

There goes my hope. I used to watch a couple episodes now and then because I used to think, it's so highly rated, it must get compelling at some point. Oh well.

It's deservedly highly rated. Not even just because of how much it changed the game for what a show could do. It's compelling as hell on first watch, and the vibe throughout is great. Those things I'd skip now were essential, just not as much fun to watch when you know where they're headed.

I think I gave up somewhere around the 3rd or 4th season as well. The character development was mostly superficial and all of the plot lines seemed to just be building up to who was going to get "whacked" next in some way that was designed to shock. Just not my thing.

I believe the Indian Thanksgiving episode is widely acknowledged to be the very worst. Sopranos is my favorite drama ever, and I pity people who don't appreciate it. It's a monumental achievement.
