Did anyone else check out USA's Sirens (from Denis Leary and Bob Fisher)? It's a paramedic comedy. I thought it was the equivalent of a 7 year old discovering cuss words. The Pilot was brutal, and the second episode wasn't much better. I don't think I'm going to stick with it.

It is based on a British show from a few years ago, which kinda sucked, but starred Richard "King of the North" Madden as a random piece of trivia. Sounds like they made it worse.

Don't take my word for it, it's only 22 minutes of your life you won't get back if you don't like it. There were a couple of good laughs in the episodes, but considering they were trying to make you laugh every 5 seconds, that's not really a good ratio.

Helix is 10 episodes in now. How does it compare to the current scifi tv slate? I haven't really watched any sci-fi since Fringe other than picking up Grimm, and I'm looking for new shows to add. Not any posts about Helix on this forum but most pointed out it was kind of all over the place at the start. Worth checking out?

Hannibal legit for Local cable. Wish HBO would've grabbed this.

Not watched the new Helix from last night, but its improving and yet still kinda all over the place. Its doing that really rare approach where you start with no info and huge confusion then it starts answering the confusion, sometimes with things that create their own new questions, but mostly building everything up.

Honestly I have no idea what the audience for the show is meant to be. Its not really sci fi, its too unwilling to hand-hold the audience for mass appeal but its not smart enough to really justify its attempted cult niche.

Its very much absurdist fiction. I kinda like it in a weird way, its definitely improving over time, but its still not something I would rush to recommend. Like it seems you dont watch a huge amount of TV so there has to be something better out there to get into for you.

I don't know about that. It's an incredible show, but seeing it uncensored might ruin some of it's impact. It much more thought provoking and mind-screwing then it would be if it didn't have to hold back on what it's allowed to show and say.

Hannibal is the single most violent show in the history of network TV. It wouldn't be a shock to see the things we see on something like HBO or Showtime, and I agree with you that it probably wouldn't have the same impact on there. My jaw literally drops with the show almost every week. The beginning of the last show was one of the worst things I have ever seen, almost unbearable to watch (keep in mind that I am not into gore, and typically try to avoid it in entertainment watching).

I agree with thus but Also think it would worth Losing that for a longer show, tits, no commercials, and actually being able to scream the f word while jumping off a cliff to your death.

I honestly can't think of anything that HBO or a channel similar can add to Hannibal. Adding nudity, language, or making it more graphic won't add to the show. No commercials is the best thing that can be done.

Wishing HBO would have grabbed Hannibal is really odd. Unless its something about expecting it to be cancelled*.

I cant see how HBO could make Hannibal better. Edit, yes, 100% agree with electricladyind - the show is pretty damn close to perfection.

* I think it is really safe even if it is a commercial failure, not least because HBO or Showtime will snap it up if it gets cancelled

I'm going to try to watch this just because I find the industry interesting, but I did a quick background check on the show and it appears that it aired last year and was very controversial. The guy they are following is accused of being a scam and from what others are saying that isn't even his real name. Maybe it isn't the same show as before. Either way I'll be watching it.

I am getting bored with this show.

Kennear is doing all he can to elevate the material, but it's just losing steam IMO. I don't care about the ex-hooker now that we're not seeing her half nekkid, and the assistant trying to act despondent about her BF leaving was just painful. And:

Spoiler:
Things are becoming absolutely ridiculous with his upcoming affair with the Mayor's wife
I'm getting increasingly angered at the ludicrous personal harassment by the mayor not resulting in a monstrous and very public lawsuit.

Star Crossed is pretty legit terrible but it had one of the cooler scenes showing artificial gravity on spaceship.

I'd suggest checking out Continuum. Very cool Canadian sci fi about a cop and some terrorists who are sent back in time.

I think Continuum is going to become really A+ top quality sci fi in the third season. Its had some great moments so far and the end of season two was just so awesome. Definitely worth watching.
