Watched season 3. Still great, more of the same. What's amazing is how they distill the tranquility of having nothing much to do on a sunny british day. A sunny summer late afternoon/early evening the in south east of england is better than any other time and place in the world imo. Pity there's only like 6 of them a year.

Have anyone else watched Netflix's Altered Carbon? It is one of the most expensive Netflix productions to date, and it shows. Based on novel of the same name. Set about 500 years into future where people have attained pseudo-immortality where consciousness can be transferred to new bodies. Only the richest of the rich can afford to keep producing new young bodies, so most people still eventually die to old age. Story begins with of these rich guys being murdered and him hiring a terrorist/freedom fighter/elite spec op who's consciousness has been frozen for 250 years to solve his murder.

I found it quite enjoyable (8/10), although the lead female actor was bad. On the other hand, there were couple of great unknown actors, like Poe's and the convict who played 3 different characters inside his body during one episode. Show was quite gritty and had decent amount of nudity. Unlike Game of Thrones' often gratuitous nudity, in AC it never felt out of place though.

Watched the first 3, then my Netflix died. Really enjoying it so far and looking forward to finishing it. I'm surprised it doesn't have it's own thread.

As you said, I think Poe is great, and James Purefoy is brilliant in anything he's in. Visually it's spectacular too.

I liked Altered Carbon, and would definitely watch a season 2. the story got convoluted and seemed a bit strung out toward the end, but it looked good and had interesting ideas.

3 episodes in to everything sucks and loving it... mostly. it's fun and easy, and takes me back to the 90s.

The one adjective I keep coming back to with Altered Carbon is ham-fisted. So much bad, over-wrought writing and acting. Props to Kinneman for getting so jacked, though.

I cant see anyone who grew up in the nineties not clicking on this. Has a freaks and geeks feel. I think they caught the awkwardness and expectations of young relationships influenced by pop culture at the time

I watched the first episode. It has some potential and the nostalgia is great and all but at some point it was like...yeah I get it its supposed to be the 90s. Its clearly trying to be F&G but saying it has a F&G feel is like saying Andrew Wiggins has a Michael Jordan feel.

i mean it is a little bit like freeks and geeks. and it's nice they cast actual kids to play kids. sadly, the lead kid, luke, is not that great of an actor imo, but all the other kids are pretty good. luke does have the hardest job though. maybe he'd be great if he had a smaller part. and the principle is great.

Everything Sucks has more of a Full House feel than Freaks and Geeks. I'm surprised by the love here. Turned it off after half an hour. I'm disappointed it's pitched at a younger audience.

The F&G comparison is bad because F&G is the best season of TV of all time and this appears to be pretty mediocre...but dude, cut it out, its nothing at all like Full House.

You're right. My bad. It does have that after-school show vibe. That's what I was trying to get at.

I’m a Judd apatow fan but f&g is not Michael Jordan, maybe P&R or Veep gets up to that comparison but we’re far apart on opinions here I’m afraid. What I liked about everything sucks is it did capture my experience growing up in the 90’s. Maybe I have a slant because I dated the superintendent’s daughter so some of the issues connected with me more but I also liked the main character’s expectation and let down with early romance. I also tried drama because of another girl and remember the intensity of being put on the spot by your peers if you were the rookie. Overall, it reminded me of experiences me and my friends went through so I found it relateable and def brought me back. Music was spot on

i was quite surprised at how much the music brought me back to that time period.

it made me think how now that i'm an old ass man and no longer listen to contemporary music, in the future i won't be susceptible to being transported to 2018 by current music

Watched the first episode of Everything Sucks and that really was not good at all. It's a very very pale imitation of F&G. I cringed at the very first lines of the show where they immediately went to the Star Wars prequels well. I almost shut if off right there. And then they hit on how everything in Ironic is not actually ironic. The lowest of the low hanging fruit.

And the heartfelt stuff is so ham-fisted.

"You're out of focus"
"I know, I'm trying to work on that"

Egad.
