posted this in the show rec thread, but also here...

The travel channel show "Off Limits", especially tonight's premiere about LA, is fascinating. Pure awesome.

Cliffs: history/examination of the LA River, aqueduct, oil fields

Swamp Brothers is pretty funny. One guy is a redneck and his younger brother is now working with him. He's from NYC so he's totally out of his element trying to catch wildlife. I only watched 1 episode so there's a good chance the whole thing is staged and the NYC brother is just pretending to be out of his element.

If interest is there they won't shut it down. I can't imagine a ton of people caring for those shows but I could be wrong.

Anyone watching the new season of Ice Road Truckers? There's this new driver from Alabama. He calls himself a "good old white boy." He's so f'ing stupid it's not even funny. He's been a driver for 25 years and shows up thinking he can just drive the ice road.

He wants to just drive but the company that hires him wants to make sure he can handle the road. So a trainer goes w/ him on his first trip. He's telling the new guy how to drive up this ice covered hill and he screws it up. He also keeps going down hills too fast and drives in the middle of the road so the trainer has to keep telling him to move over and slow down.

Instead of just listening to him, the new guy cops an attitude and basically picks a fight. So the trainer tells him he needs to make 1 more trip before he's comfortable letting him drive alone. So the guy is all pissed about that.

How hard is it to understand that when you go to a new company in a new area that you are on the bottom of the totem pole? Just like in any other place, you have to prove you can handle it. Instead, he puts a target on his back by being a prick and now he may not even have a job.

Truck driving, for some reason unknown to me, is seen as a manly testosterone filled job and there are a lot of truck drivers that cop an attitude ( I've been driving for 20 years, don't tell me what to do!). It was pretty much standard at my old job. Didn't matter if they were hired on the day before, they knew more than anyone in the room.

Agree. I used to be a warehouse manager of a delivery company. The best drivers were always the ones that were willing to do any work, like drive a van, box or flat bed. The worse guys were the ones that basically said "I drive a box and I don't load."

**** you *******, if you want to work for me, you do what I ask. Unloading a truck w/ a pallet jack takes 10 minutes. You can do it.

I hope Homeland on Showtime doesn't go the way of Rubicon. Which was good but just lacked the total awesomeness to get it over the hump with the viewing public.

I like IRT. The new guy also did World Deadliest Road and quit after the first day.

And too Matt Williams:

Is it the truck drivers job to unload his truck? Who knows how many hours the guy was driving for? He might be happy to just be able to walk around while his truck is being unloaded. His job is to drive drive the truck and your's is to unload trucks why are you getting pissed because he doesn't want to do your or one of your employee's job? Does he ask you to drive half way to his next destination for him so he can sleep?

Yep. I thought it was pretty good with a ton of potential considering who is involved.

Yea. It's not what I thought it would be. Thought it would be more (maybe all?) man on the street type stuff, like cash stall and you can't film here as opposed to the pushing over borders sketch. Liked it.
