Anyone check out Marco Polo?

I kind of like it, but it has taken me 3 viewings and I am only 90 minutes in. Noah Wyle has a Dr. Who act to him and I agree, Romijn is awful. Glad to see John Laroquette(sp?) back on TV.

I watched episode 1, it's pretty good. It's like Vikings but with Mongols. Seems like they put some money into it too. I'll keep watching it.

Funny you say that bc I couldn't watch in one session either. Apparently Noah Wyle is only in a couple episodes. That'll probably hurt the show for me

I'm 3 episodes in and it still has a ways to go before I think it's as good as Vikings. It does have potential, though.

I agree it's not as good, I just meant in general. Strange barbarian culture experienced thru an outsider. I'm also 3 episodes in.

Tonight's episode of The Affair was epic, still more surprises!

The Affair is so great. I love all the subtle differences in their stories like how McNulty makes sure to mention that he gave her anal haha

I like The Affair, I want to love it but I just can't. McNulty is too much of an idiot. I get that he's super flawed, but near every decision he makes just doesn't make any sense. The whole backbone of their affair doesn't truly make sense on either side of things. I guess there can just be some sort of kindred longing for each other, but it just seems weak to me. Pacy just seems like a little bitch mostly. His wife is cuckholding the hell out of him, he looks like he should be white Ray Rice, and yet he just internalizes all of her cheating. Most of all, I don't get Oscar as a character at all. He seems like The Joker of trolls. There is no rhyme or reason for him just wanting to screw up all these people's lives'. OK, so he hates the Solloway family, but he has some weird fascination with Ruth Wilson. He seemingly has an irrational hate of McNulty as well. His character just makes no sense to me.

Also, while I like the idea behind alternate storylines, they only worked for when both were being interviewed. I don't understand the point in the alternate storylines diverging so much when they aren't telling an investigator.

I did think the most recent episode was the best so far.

I highly doubt they were telling the detective everything that was in those episodes. It's not like HIMYM where what you're seeing matches up exactly with the narrator.

So McNulty forgot that he tried to get a little studio sex-spot for his mistress? Or Ruth Wilson forgot that she let him SIIHP (among actual important details)? My whole argument is that there was a point for these details to diverge when they were lying and trying to tell a detective separate accounts of a situation, but not when they are just viewing a situation through their own lens. It seems unnecessary and like they are trying to capture some of the better parts of True Detective and just missing.

5 eps in and I think Marco Polo is pretty good, not great but definitely worth watching.

ridiculous. Love it.

So I started it earlier, but just finishing up Transparent and I can't rave higher about it. It is funny, it is touching, it is well acted all around. Most of all, its just well written, so you can really feel each character. Its definitely going to be high in my top shows of the year list.

Ascension - anyone seen this?

1 murder in 50 years seems like a good rate. They probably had dozens of people die of natural causes. Did people actually procreate on the ship? And yes, I know speed/time would alter in a mission like this.
