i finally watched the hello ladies movie. i didn't like it much. and i loved the tv show. the bit with nicole kidman was painful. i know that's the show's humor, and usually like it. like i loved on the show when he was making the bad jokes at the gay guy's house, and the girl was tap dancing. that was hilarious. but for some reason the nicole kidman thing hit me the wrong way.

i also turned if off a couple minutes before it ended. i don't know how it ended.

This latest episode of The Comeback is raising the bar on cringe-inducing comedy. This is almost vomit-inducing-from-it's-awkwardness comedy.

I've just marathoned Generation Kill, a HBO miniseries about a group of marines during the 2003 Iraq invasion.

I really loved it and am surprised it's not mentioned more often when top tier shows are discussed. I'm going to listen to the book it's based on now.

It's a David Simon show so 2p2 was pretty into it IIRC, had it's own thread.

i constantly try and tell people how amazing it is.

and just so you know, they weren't just regular marines.
force recon are the most elite unit in the marine force.
they are the special forces of the marines and are generally used for reconnoissance.

made by simon n chase (guys who did the wire) and based on a book that was written by a journalist who was actually embedded with the force recon marines.

its incredibly accurate, and just an absolutely phenomenal depiction of modern war.

you should absolutely read the book, if nothing else to appreciate more how incredibly faithful they were in adapting it.

also fyi, "Fruity rudy" played himself.

i love watching band of brothers than generation kill.

i think one of the reasons its not brought up as much when talking about best TV shows of all time is the same reason band of brothers isn't (despite the fact that BoB is undoubtedly the GOAT thing ever shown on TV and in the running for GOAT film as well) which is it was a mini-series.

GK holds up insanely well on multiple viewings as well.
i rewatch it multiple times a year.

I only saw 2-3 episodes of GK when it aired and it didn't grab my attention, from the comments here, I will try and watch it again.

.
Pretty sure they were part of one of the marine recon battalions not force recon

i believe that the vast majority of the marines in the 1st recon battalion were force recon marines that had undergone the force recon selection process and MEU.

in fact they made a point of talking about how one of the marines in colbert's squad (trombley) hadn't completed the force recon selection/training and so wasnt technically a force recon marine and how the other marines gave him **** for it.

they were attached to the 1st recon battalion, but they were in fact force recon marines.

that was another big issue talked about in the book/show.
how they were being deployed in a manner totally inconsistent with their training.

i could be mistaken but that was my understanding.

I hope they finish the storyline this season and not drag it over 7 seasons.

Love that show. It's worth watching just to see Adelaide Clemens. She is my favorite actress on TV.

anyone watch The Librarians? Really corny, but really fun. Never saw the made for tv movies, never watched a show on TNT in my life, but caught a commercial and decided to record it.

I'm a sucker for this genre, so I was into it. Rebecca Romaijn was terrible and shouldn't even be on the show, but it wasn't enough to turn it off. I'll probably keep going with it despite the fact im not the demographic considering every commercial aired during it was about boner pills and menopause.

Agree it is moving along nicely. Did think the muse storyline was a bit heavy handed particularly in light of the flash forward re: Noah
