He had no choice but to trust Jesse and had to project confidence so the fixer didn't tell him to STFU and shoot him in the face.

Since he spoke it with someone who KNOWS who he is, it's not just something he conceals from people like Walt.
Some of this is true, but I think they're doing this intentionally. Many people who speak second languages fluently revent to their first language accent when, for example, they're getting angry or upset. I felt they were indicating Gus's frustration.

Um, no question. As I said, as Gus gets more and more pissed at Walt more and more of his accent comes out.

This Rubicon show is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring.
06-13-2010 , 11:13 PM
Loved the episode, dont get me wrong, but how much time does this honestly buy Walt?

Kind of lame IMO... they could just torture him to give it up, kidnap his family, etc.

Gale really wasn't THAT important that he had to be taken out.

I was pretty pissed when walt said he would give up jesse, and felt a lot better when in the end he never planned on actually giving him up. I think Walt would die for Jesse which is why I got pissed.

Anyway, its a good season finale, but I think they could of done better with the actual struggle which in the end was just Gale?

I, for one, am not watching Rubicon out of spite for including it on my DVR for Breaking Bad.

Suck my balls, AMC.

But yeah, pretty much the best episode of TV I've seen this year.

Yes...

But in the context that, its been established that he needs an assistant... so tomorrow, now that Gale is dead, there will be a new assistant in there that Gus will be asking to learn Walt's ways. It doesnt really buy him that much time IMO.

Also, like killing the assistant doesnt prevent Gus from doing something more serious such as kidnapping Walt's family, torturing him, etc etc. It just prolongs the issue, which is ok, and I already said I thought the episode was great, I just think it could have been better.

Also a little bit confused of why Gus wants Walt dead so bad... is he just that convinced that Walt attracts trouble?

It was cool though, how Gale in the end had to be killed by Jesse, I think THAT was excellent writing

Sepinwall posted an interview with Vince Gilligan.

We heard/saw a gun go off...I thought it was pretty clear what happened.

Couple things that make this show so awesome

-How quickly I turned on Gus/his crew when they started gunning for Walt. I hope they all die now.

-I genuinely thought Walt was giving Pinkman up. Made the switch that much more satisfying.

-That whole scene was just goat level.

i also thought there was a tiny bit of room for ambiguity in the final scene (it does appear possible that he changes the aim of the gun before firing), but this interview seems to clear that up. i recommend it
06-13-2010 , 11:54 PM
nothings clear. it could easily be victor shooting jesse or jesse shooting himself

so happy with this finale!!!

and for those complaining about the 1:47 thing....it was mentioned several times in this thread within the last week that it would be a normal length episode followed by a sneak peak of Rubicon

That was an awesome episode, but I am ****ing PISSED that it was 1 hour of BB and 47 minutes of ****ing Rubicon, I was so pumped for nearly another hour of BB, such a letdown.

Thanks bro that was awesome, but I'm coming away thinking it's going to be hard for them to come up with a good start to season 4.
