Uh, Jesse would be in high school when this takes place.

Not to mention that he'd never be thought of a "muscle" for a protection job even in the BrBa time frame.

I've been listening to the podcast and I gotta say Michael Mando is pretty annoying in how he is sucking up to everybody.

Except he was including Chuck there. Hamlin was taking the heat for chucks decision not to hire Jimmy, but he didn't want to out and out lie to the guy.

It was really good. So satisfying when things fall into place and you instantly understand so much subtle foreshadowing you didn't realize was there. For instance, the scene with Kim in the nail shop. The complexity of her emotion was apparent at the time, but you appreciate it even more once the full import is realized. Great writing.

You are right on both counts, of course, and could probably come up with a dozen other reasons why it would make no sense for it to have been him. Notice I didn't say I was hoping for it to be Jesse, or that it would make any sense for it to have been Jesse. There was just something about his walk or his hair or something that triggered Jesse in my mind. Thus my "brief second" comment.

subtle small thing, but since I root for him a lot:

Its not easy to be in a scene with Mike and hold your own with your stare. I thought Mando staring back at Banks was pretty great. Quick little moment that was well done.

And yeah that parking lot scene was SO good. Love me some Mike.

After todays episode, the point could be made that although Chuck is not a criminal, he is a bad guy.
I think it's really hard to say that Chuck is a bad guy. You have to remember all the times he got Saul out of trouble during his Slippin Jimmy days.

Yeah, but holding it over his head for the rest of Jimmy's life isnt something a nice, compassionate brother does. "You were a **** up in the past so you'll always be a ****up" isnt the rallying cry of a good guy.

Bad brother? Ungrateful for the help when he is the one needing help.

Jimmy was rooting for Chuck to overcome his 'illness'. Chuck does not root for Jimmy to improve his position in life. In fact, he's been actively holding him down. Maybe he's not a bad guy, but he's certainly an a$$hole.

The thing about the BB franchise is that there are very few likable characters. Chuck, like nearly everyone else, is not a likable character. I want bad things to happen to him, and I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Has it been stated who the other Hamlin is?
I've been operating under the assumption that the other Hamlin is Howard's Father, seems to fit.

I'm thinking Mike was armed the whole time, he just understood it wouldn't be wise to get into a dick waving contest with Protector No. 3. Any thoughts on the matter?

To know in the end that he was in on it just makes the backstabbing even colder.

Wonder what's gonna happen to Chuck once Jimmy breaks away from him and becomes Saul Goodman. I mean is he still going to be a regular on the show? Can't see how he fits in once Jimmy cuts him out of his life.
Three named partners. In a firm that size there are likely many more. Plus we have the conversation with Kim talking about being made partner in a couple of years, implying there are more than just the three named partners. This is pretty normal in a law firm of that size. You have to do it to keep your good producers around. They need a piece of the equity being built or they'll leave to start their own firms.

I think this is true as well. In the first episode when we see Jimmy go into HHM for the first time he has a quick interaction with an older, well dressed gentleman who is clearly a partner at the firm. I don't remember what was said but at the time I came away with the impression that he was the senior Hamlin.

In the Vince G podcast Vince, et al said that they didn't make Chuck the bad guy that was keeping Jimmy down until after they had finished Ep 7.

Hamlin had always been the bad guy and they wrote it that way from the beginning. But, after watching Michael McKean and seeing the dynamic that developed between Jimmy and Chuck they changed it to Chuck.

Just another reason why this show is so well written. They are willing to change direction at any time if the story and characters take them there.

One other tidbit.

The guy who played Pryce in the last episode is a guy that used to go to local tv stations and perform as KStrass the zim-zam yo yo master.

The gag was that he of course really knew nothing about yo yos and would get on these live mornings shows and just be strange and screw up.

He was also in the last season of The Office is looks like, one of the new warehouse guys. I really didn't remember him from that role at all, but I likely just tried to put those episodes out of my mind.

I figure anyone risking their ass for $500 is likely not going to be a top tier combat expert as evidenced by the first guy. Gentle giant realized he was way out of his element and gtfo.

That sucks there's only one episode left. Besides this show there's only girls and mad men that I can even tolerate running right now. Gonna have some withdrawal as I go back to Golden Girls re-runs
