Perhaps it would be better to just binge watch it after s2 is over.

Finale was kind of a let down but the season was still better than most stuff that's on tv. Looking forward to the second season and upset that the first season was so short

I missed that. What was it?

The previous episode was much more of a finale than this was. Disappointing indeed. Looking forward to next season though.

Re: Better Call Saul: Premieres on Feb 8/9

I thought the episode was better than most people so far have seemed to. It wasn't as exciting as the previous episode and not as much happened as some of the other ones but the acting was incredible and character building of jimmy/saul was very well done.

The whole time he was in Chicago I had a feeling in the back of my mind he was gonna get ****ed over. Either by the police or by his old buddy or by the guy that scammed at the bar. Made every scene seem a bit more suspenseful. Maybe that was just me though.

Also seeing Hamlin in a new light after episode 9 was almost heartwarming.

Some parts were slow (maybe very slow), but it was still one of the best episodes of TV I've seen this year.

Re: Better Call Saul: Premieres on Feb 8/9

The whole episode was about getting to the last scene with Mike (obv). But imo it's hard to accept that after the week Jimmy had back in Illinois, he would rather con & scam for the rest of his life instead of take a real job and be a "rich" player in a legit firm.

Guess the episode was necessary but it was still dull and dissapointing

Leaving behind a track to partnership at a large firm for a life of crime is way off the reservation. They shouldn't have had that angle introduced at all. It was a broken version of Walt's same decision in Breaking Bad.

I was thinking the same thing. Seemed like such an odd twist for a show that has been mostly realistic thus far.

This may not have been the greatest episode of any show ever but I think we can all agree that it was an episode of a show

Re: Better Call Saul: Premieres on Feb 8/9

Not a big fan of season 1 as a complete volume, the Mike episode was absolutely fantastic, but so much of this season was inconsequential filler capped off by a decision that makes no sense based on how they've potrayed James McGill in BCS. I agree with the poster that said there was no reason to add that storyline and it ultimately takes quite a bit away from the show.

Pretty disappointed.

I wasn't disappointed in the least. Thought it was great. Thug's thought on the chance being too abrupt is certainly true.

But there is no track to partnership as his brother made sure of that along with the argument. I didn't feel it was a stretch that once his brother let his true feelings be known and effectively crushed his dream of becoming a big time lawyer after all Jimmy has done for him that he says **** it and decides to go back to his old more profitable(?) life.

Re: Better Call Saul: Premieres on Feb 8/9

Absolutely loved S1 as a whole, but was disappointed with the finale. I wonder if being already renewed for S2 made Gilligan decide there was no need to have a crazy cliffhanger or save it for S2 finale.

Agreed that it didn't make sense how Jimmy decides to become Saul. His old friend's death, coupled with the exciting new job offer from the other large firm, should have made it more likely that Jimmy buries his past and pushes forward as a respected lawyer. Instead we see him decide to push forward as Saul almost randomly, as he's about to walk into court, and given the circumstances, the timing didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Thought it was slow, but OK. Last week's ep was so intense that I don't see how they could have topped that.

100% my thoughts; in Walt's case, it made sense as he believed he was owed billions for helping build that company, and was not going to settle for less than being the emperor. I suppose they are trying to get across that Jimmy didn't really care about being a lawyer or a partner, but his ultimate goal was Chuck's respect and approval, and having failed that, he's giving up.

Would have worked much better had he responded to Kim's call and basically said "I've got other plans."

I'd say it would be more akin to Walt deciding he is the one who knocks at the end of s1

Just extremely poor writing all around of that was the end goal

Bingo scene was so cringe-worthy, I couldn't look at the screen.

...and I mean that in a good way. Well done, artists who were going for the cringe. You made it.

And I hope MY last words remotely resemble Marco's.

It's a false dichotomy as well. One can be a fine criminal in a large law firm.
