The same Royals that haven't made the playoffs since 1984? Idk man, any meaningful September games to them has to feel like whoever is in charge is doing the right things.

Apparently there were rumblings that Frank Wren wanted Fredi Gonzalez to go, and Bobby Cox wanted to keep Fredi.

Wonder what that means for Fredi going forward.

At first I was pretty disappointed with Wren's firing. He had some really bad results in free agency but honestly at the time of the signings they all looked pretty decent. And he's always been shrewd in trades as well.

But the more I hear about the situation the more i'm ok with his dismissal. Apparently there was a significant disconnect between him and the team..yet he would randomly send texts to players giving advice on their swings and stuff lol. And 'good people' have been leaving the organization due to him. Although who knows what the definition of 'good people' is. And this was Scheurholtz's hand picked successor..doesn't really make sense.

I dunno. I keep hearing about how the vibe or culture or whatever around the organization has been changing under his watch and Cox/Scheurholtz etc haven't liked it. But at least Wren seemed somewhat inclined to follow sabermetrics. I'm just afraid we'll go totally back to the good ole boy baseball philosophies like Arizona or something.

Bobby needs to stay out of it. Of course he's Ghana side with Fredi. He picked him!!!

Don't understand this trade at all really. We lose another bat from an already anemic offense

26th best WAR player in Heyward for another pitcher in a rotation that has plenty of depth barring massive injuries again. Maybe it's just a case of best we could get for someone we couldn't sign again.

I'm angry, but I see why the organization did it. I guess the question is if you think Heyward can take a big step forward. I think he can, and will, but if he is what he is, about a .270 hitter with 15 home runs with all-world defense, then I can see why they did it.

4 years of team control for Shelby Miller vs 1 year of Heyward, who as mentioned is probably getting $100M thrown at him by the Yankees or the Red Sox this time next year.

I thought if the organization had to choose between Justin and Jason that they'd choose Jason. Guess not.

I just stubbornly believe in Jason, I think he has Hall of Fame upside if his power ever matches his frame.

Justin may be moved too so don't think it was about choosing one over the other.

Who's gonna play in the outfield if we move Justin?

The only thing in Justin's favor over Heyward is that he's already about a 30/100 guy, and Heyward only has the potential to fill out into that.

Guess we need to change the thread title.

Maybe something about Kimbrel, he's awesome and not going anywhere anytime soon.
