I think we'd have to catch the Nats and Upton would have to keep up his current pace. If both of those happen he'll definitely be in the conversation

27 innings of 1 run offense and getting no hit today. Wonder if we actually fired the hitting coach in May how this season could've turned out. Hopefully Wren gives him a raise and 10yr contract to keep teaching guys to hit .250 and strike out a billion times with no power.

The thing that really bothered me about this post is that Justin Upton isn't even the most valuable player on the Braves outfield, much less the entire National League.

yeah but he'll finish higher than Heyward in the MVP voting bc counting stats matter for those type awards and defense is still undervalued. i agree with you tho.

yeah i actually thought that after i posted, that if tj was on the level of "hey he shouldn't win it, but i guess he has a small chance" then it's ok. but we know that's not how he meant it. he unfortunately doesn't realize how valuable heyward is.

Oh I completely appreciate how valuable Jason is. I just think that with the counting numbers Justin has, the numbers MVP voters overvalue, he might play his way into the MVP conversation. Since a pitcher who missed a month seems to be the NL MVP frontrunner, in a down year for candidates, Justin should get a look.

We need him and everyone else to step up now down the stretch. From what we've seen lately, it sure doesn't look like it's all coming together at the right time.

I'm about ready to leave this team for dead, at least for this postseason.

I can only take a little solace in that I think this team's window for contention is just now opening. Next year means another year closer to Peak Freddie, Jason, Andrelton, and Julio, among others.

Jason's and Justin's contracts are both up end of next season. I want to keep them both, and I hope that's not unrealistic.
