Beyond excited. Broke 80 for the first time today with a 79 even though it was solid rain for the first 14 holes. Just striped everything off the tee. It could have been lower too because I 3 putted two holes. No penalty strokes and no shots hit into the bunkers.

Golf can be an awesome game when it all comes together. I've slowed my takeaway down and my downswing has been a bit slower but I've been hitting the ball in the center of the club wayyyy more often. Just got to improve stuff from inside 80 yards and we can see about breaking 80 again.

40-48-88. No birdies, many others.

Frustrating. Didn't hit the ball well at all but solid enough to score much better than that, especially on the front. Missed about five putts from six feet or less. Really only made one putt beyond three feet all day. Pathetic.

Of course I hit a couple solid shots on 18 and it's enough to make me eager to play tomorrow.

Also hit up a demo day this afternoon. Big fan of the Ping hybrids - the G25 are just ridiculously easy to hit and I25s are very solid and workable. Liked the fairway woods too. Definite favorite was the TM SLDR 3 wood with a 83g TP shaft. Really nice heft and balance to it. I might need to get one. Also hit some other stuff. Did not care for the Callaway offerings.

Faces felt closed at setup and I really didn't like the stock shaft, too light. Couldn't hit them straight. My usual gripe with most stock clubs, they're designed to help people draw the ball. I don't need that help, thanks. Hit the Bertha 3W and one other, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

were you just hitting woods and hybrids?

Yeah, just 3 woods and hybrids. Current driver is okay and no reason to mess with the irons. Plus I only had about 45 minutes and it was pretty busy.

From what I've heard and read (and experienced), Adams has some really great woods (and probably best bang for the buck). I have the Speedline Fast 12 (4W) and couldn't be happier.

TaylorMade bought Adams for a reason, and I believe it was for their technology (the velocity slot they put on their clubhead acts like a corked bat in baseball - very hot face). Give it a few hits - you might get the same results and spend ~$100 less.

Nice to open with a birdie ... Less exciting to three putt number 2 from ten feet and make a double on 4 from a drive 70 yards short of the green in the middle of the fairway. Derp.

I'm thinking of doing a club fitting. Any suggestions on where to go? I live in MN.

42-38 (80) +8 at TPC Louisiana yesterday.

Gusting winds all day, played from a tee in front of where the Tour guys played a few weeks ago.

Two best drives of the day went about 370 and 235 yards respectively, and felt like I was gonna get blown off my feet standing over some putts.

Man, I'm on a really fun mini-tear (is two 9-hole rounds a tear?). Shot a 39 on Wednesday with a couple of birdies, then shot a 38 yesterday. My 38 yesterday included an OB on the second hole, but I "birdied" my second ball so only had a bogey. Then i proceeded to double the next hole, a par 3, when I couldn't get out of the sand. From there, smooth sailing with one more bogey and two birdies.

Even better than score, pretty much everything was clicking. I know I can score well when that happens. Yesterday my drives were long and straight, my irons were well struck, and I was dropping putts. The way things go, though, I'll shoot 89 tomorrow during men's league.

Had a very weird 9 hole round yesterday. Ended up with a +8, which is a pretty normal score for me at this point, but I got to that score in a very unorthodox way. 2 birdies (which is pretty rare for me, to have 2 birdies in a 9 hole round), 2 pars, 5 doubles. Overall I was hitting the ball pretty well, but I had some penalties that cost me some strokes as well as a couple duffs that were for all practical purposes penalties.

Probably had the best round of my life today. Not score wise though.

This is from yesterday, when I shot 84 at Crystal Springs Golf resort - the Crystal Springs course.

This is hole #11, only birdie I had all day. 186 yards 80' drop into the wind. Hit a big accidental sweeping hook to 1' while playing through another group. I was just trying for the middle of the green and to get out of there.

What club did you hit?

I made birdie the one time I played that hole to. A picture from the green back up to the tee shows how truly absurd that hole.

I was more curious to see how far the hole plays? Is it always into the wind?

Seems like the middle of the green on that hole is about three steps wide.

Accomplished a first: Birdied every single green I hit in regulation.

45-44 really happy with the way I've been hitting the ball lately. Need to work on my decision making a bit. Tried a bump and run on 17 from 80 out, ended up 30 yards short. Then another chip hits a sprinkler head and I take a 6. Have to hit wedge there.

41-42-83. 1 birdie, 1 double.

Some better shots. Swing still shaky, but hopeful. Putting was awful.

41 / 42 = 83. Had a tremendous ball striking round with some lapses of concentration here and there. Looking forward to tomorrow.
