my 2012, lol at my FIR number jesus. scoring average was 88 something last year and HC was low 11 so i have somehow regressed this season. i really blow at par 4s, it's obviously a weakness, too bad i have to play 10-12 of them a round

You obviously have a pretty decent long game, but you can easily cut 10 strokes off just with putting. I would get to work on the putting drills in the ultimate practice routine.

no kidding! 46 putts would mean several innocent bystanders would have chunks of my former putter sticking out of their abdomen

The longest round I ever played went off as a single paired up on the third because I didn't want to make the people who caught me up wait on me every shot. On the fourth tee we could see one group approaching the green and two on the fifth tee waiting to hit.

Hit the ball well enough even hit the driver four times with no penalties, but my short game was atrocious. 5 three putts and several horrible chips and pitches.

got a new driver, 3 wood and 3 hybrid before I played to replace my ancient clubs, helped a lot.

quite happy with how i played since greens were aerated and made putting hard. also i didn't have my sand wedge, i must have left it on the course last round and didn't notice until now. bunkers especially were a struggle without it.

Yeah, just started that routine this week. Made everything inside of 5 feet but chipping and lag putting were awful. On just the front 9, I had five holes where I missed GIR by 10-15 yards then proceeded to chip on and three putt.

Agreed that even with terrible chipping, I could knock 10 strokes off by improving lag putting. That would get me to 82 for this round. If I could get up and down from even a few of those GIR near-misses, I'm breaking 80.

I think the best part about my last few rounds is the realization that I am capable of posting 79 or better. Just really have to focus on the lag putting and chipping.

85 (44-41) today, I played terrible golf first 14 holes.

I know 70s are coming, need to stop hitting a big controlled slice on every hole and I'll do it juste fine.

40-38-78 (course is par 35-37-72). 2 birdies, 1 double.

Never really felt locked in, putter was pretty shaky, nothing was great. And yet the results were very good. Some of that was playing the white tees.

89 (par 72). Played not terribly but no part of my game was really good except maybe 50-100 yard pitches, which is pretty consistently the strongest part of my game.

Lag putting definitely better thanks to the ultimate practice routine. Two 3-putts but the first was yipping a < 3-footer, second was Like 60 feet that I still had good speed on but misread the break and missed the 6-footer I had left.

Gonna play again tomorrow I love golf!

apparently not hitting driver is a positive for me, never hit this many fairways in a round. feel like i should have scored better my ballstriking was good but a couple bad short approach shots lead to some big scores

Greens are all being aerated around here so I've been practicing my short game. Had a nice long session today hitting chips and pitches, and have been practicing a lob shot to add to my game, still needs some work though. After today's session when I went to clean my lob wedge I noticed that the bottom had been chewed to hell, big gouge marks and a little chunk missing off the sole. The bottom is all shiny now too (It's a Callaway Jaws X series 60 cc). Is that a problem with the manufacturing, me not taking care of it, or just the ground? It has been pretty dry here so the ground has gotten pretty dusty.

sounds like the kind of thing that happens over time just by hitting **** on the ground

I should have broken 90 but blew up on two holes with a 9 and an 8.

The problems with my driver have now afflicted my three wood.
Short game was better, putting is coming along.

The 9 was the result of a horrible drive that left me having to chip out sideways. I chipped through the fairway and had to take a drop I then laid up short of the cross bunker and had two shots for double. I hit it pin high into the left bunker, left my escape short and three putted from there. The eight was on an easy par five and started with another horrible tee shot that meant I couldn't make the green in three. My fourth shot was a nine iron at the green that missed right leaving me a pitch over a bunker to a tucked flag on a down hill lie. It got over the bunker but rolled off the green and I took three putts to get it down.

So it's been quite a good week on the golf course. I won the weekly roll up earning some small $$$ then the next it was club championship.

The format is 18 hole medal full handicap, but then the top 9 gross scores go on to play another 18 holes to scratch.

I managed to play pretty good on the first 18 holes and the thing is my short game just wasn't there. I managed to shot 4 over with a run of a few birdies in the middle of the round which got me pretty pumped. Anyway I netted a 58 playing out of my skin, on the 18th green thinking I've won the nett competition. As we was last out I got back to the club house to find out in came 2nd because someone netted a 54 :-/.

I came like 6th overall in the gross, so I had to play another 18. I knew I wasn't going to beat the guys I was up against 5 of the people left in the competition was under a 5 handicap. But yeah anyway i played a shot really bad can't remember exactly but I didn't mind I was super tired and lacked concentration by this time. But I managed to come 4th which I am very pleased to see. I now play off 13, at the start of the year I think I was playing off 26.

After this comp I am now the leader of the order of merit for my club with 4 competitions left before it ends so hopefully I can hold out for that long.
