isn't that aggravating?

shot 84 with two doubles and a triple, when I swear on fooking God some dip****e hit my ball and wouldn't confess. still can't make a birdie putt.

Extremely windy and wasn't adjusting accordingly.
Tried some Ping irons again, think I will be going with those or Titlesist again.

Had my best ever 9 hole stretch on the sister course of the location of my first and only hole in one (Industry Ike) even though I had two three putts in the same stretch.

I was 12 over through my 1st 8 holes and then...

9- Hit a good drive past tree in the rough, sand wedge to 15 feet, then canned it for birdie.

10- Good drive, 9 iron to 20 foot, make the downhill slider for birdie

11-Tough par 5 great drive, decent 2nd, on to green but short, 3 putt bogey

12- 7 iron to 3.5 feet, miss the putt, par

13- 6 iron to 10 feet, putt was on line but just missed, par

14- Terrible drive that hit cart path but bounced in fairway, 8 iron to 15 feet, two putt for par

15- Terrible drive right that hit a tree, 5 wood from 210 to 25 feet, par

16-Good drive, 8 iron to that hit 10 feet from pin but caught the slope and rolled to 25 feet, 2 putt par.

17- 6 iron onto the green about 35 feet, another 3 putt bogey

Doubled 18 but was the 1st time I ever hit 9 greens in a row that's for sure!

Very nice. Being that it's 0 degrees here in Boston, I enjoyed reading that. April can't get here fast enough.

65 degrees today! Shot 42-51 in my first full round in a while. Winter feels like its been going on forever.

Lots of positives to work from today. Really paid the price for wayward shots (including 4 penalty strokes), but overall it was decent with some excellent shots mixed in.

I will never understand crap like this. From holes 2-6, I literally just felt like I couldn't figure out how far to stand from the ball. #4 was actually a good drive that took a horrible kick into the water. And #6 I hit a great drive before hitting a 90 yard 3 wood that came to rest up against a tree unplayable.

2 drives on 2 were pathetic Mike Weir duckhooks, first on OB. Drive on 8 was HUGE hook. Drive on 5 was a 200 yard duckhook.

Back 9 was basically perfect ball striking except for crappyish 3 iron into bunker on 12 and bad all around #18. I missed an 8 footer on 10, a 15 footer on 11, 4 putted from fringe on 13, missed a 20 footer on 14 for bird, missed an 8 footer on 17 for birdie.

My goal for the past year or so has been to break 80 (unique, huh?). I have put up a fair number of 82-85's where I was at least in the running, but nothing was as awful as yesterday.

I was playing with a guy I gamble with who has been bitching about me not giving strokes because I have been playing better. So I shoot a very nice 39 on the front, trying to stay focused, and he begins this lengthy conversation on the 10th tee about how I need to give him strokes etc etc., getting the guys we were paired with in on it. Everyone agrees I need to give him EIGHT strokes on the back. I don't even care because this guy owes me more money than he'll ever be able to pay me anyway.

Problem is, it becomes the focus of the back nine for the entire foursome. I mention that I am trying to break 80 for the first time, and can I get a little consideration please?

Anyway, I get to #16, and I need to get home in one over for the final three holes for a 79. #16 is the hardest hole on the course, and requires a perfect tee ball of exactly 210-220 yds to be played properly. So I take my 3 hybrid, tee it up, and one of the guys playing with us says (while I am addressing my ball) "Why don't you guys press your best for the final three holes, make it interesting?"

Needless to say, I tell them all that I am finding it interesting enough, as I have mentioned, because I have a great shot at breaking 80, re-tee it up, and my draw becomes a slice (first time all day), I double the hole, and shoot an 80.

Nobody's fault but mine, but...well, damn.

That's the problem when you start trying to play golf at a decent level, your playing partners often don't care and are just there for the laugh, which is fine for them but it can be very annoying when your trying your best to shoot a score.

Sounds like your the best player of the group, might be time to find new partners, at least for your serious rounds.

At least your only one shot away from your goal for the year and we're only 3 weeks in

I am starting to notice this. It's almost like people think you're an ******* if you want to putt out your own ball from anything inside 3 feet, because it's a pace of play issue or something. (Which, aside from being generally ******ed, is particularly stupid because we're gonna have to wait on the tee box anyway, just like we do on every hole.) Then when I do try to putt it out I feel rushed.

I'm guessing their true feelings are more like, "I'm giving myself everything inside 4 feet, stop making me look like a douche with your putting-it-in-the-hole BS."

Exactly.

Or...

"Stop making my 96 look more like a 103 because I take everything inside of 5 feet."

Haha, have a similar story myself only have myself to blame.
Goal today was to break 80, I've done it before but not for a while.
+5 going into 16. 16 is the easiest hole on the course. 480 yard par 5. Only problem is there is water about 250 yards off the tee, no biggie, just lay up short, lay up chip onto green. End up in the trees off the tee, hack out but hit in water.
Double bogey, bogey bogey finish for 81...FU golf...haha...

I think when you get serious and decent about your scores it's tough playing with hack buddies.
My friend from HS who used to play off 4 when we played alot in HS told me he plays left handed (he normally plays right) when he plays with his hack friends just to make it more fun for himself and them. This is an extreme but you all know what I mean.

Pretty good round today. 10 pars or better is I think a personal best.

Number ten was a fantastic fairway bunker shot from 120 yards out that ended up two feet from the hole. Number eleven was a terrible fairway bunker shot into a creek. So it goes.

Number 13 I murdered my drive and hit my second shot into a greenside bunker from 205. How did I get an 8? Well I managed to hit my third shot out of bounds. Didn't catch a single grain of sand.

Only one drive all day really got away from me. I'm pretty sure I've never hit that many fairways before, and even the ones I missed were typically just off the fairway with a clean shot at the green. Lessons/practice are really paying off. Since working hard to stop flipping the club with my hands my accuracy has improved tremendously and my misses are waaaay more manageable. I still get lazy sometimes and let my hands get too active resulting in a massive pull hook, but those shots are getting further and further apart.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. Bad but not terrible tee shot into a lie on a bunch of bark and needed to go over a greenside bunker. Didn't really know how to play that shot and ended up pitching across the green to the rough. Third shot was an lol bad chunk that didn't reach the green. Finally chipped to a couple feet and sank the putt.

82 on same course as previous entries. Probably the wierdiest round I've played for a while. Course is completely baked out from the wind and heat we've had here in aus and every day it's been windy in the afternoon, this afternoon is no exception. Gusty 30 k/ph winds.
Start the day with a 9 on the first hole, par 5. WTF. I top my drive, top my 2nd shot, top my 3rd, finally get it on the green in 7 and two putt. Where did that come from. Anyway I par 2, bogey three so sitting on +5 after three in these crappy conditions thinking I'm gonna struggle to break 90. Anyway play the next 6 holes in +1 and enter the turn +6. End up topping my 7 iron on 10 again, 165 yard par 3 but it ends up close to the green but miss a 8 footer for par. Birdie 12 and 14 so I'm sitting on +6 thinking crap, might break 80...whoops...

16 is a 480 yard par 5 easiest hole on course but it's in the teeth of the wind. Block my drive into the trees and can't find it, lucky I have a provisional and end up double bogey. Bogey bogey finish for 82...

Got to play today for the second time this week shot 89 on Monday, and 85 today. Had a chance break 83 which is my best score going into the Par 5 18th. Bombed a drive, then turned over on a 3 wood and ended up in a hazard, made a mess of it and doubled!

Anyways was a really fun round hit 8/18 greens as a 19 handicapper, shorted my backswing a bit after reading about creating more torque/coil in the backswing rather than a big sweeping turn. Seemed to work from about the 6th hole on when I started trying it, although does put me at risk of turning over on the balls more.

82 on very wet course. i am getting close to breaking 80

driving: B-... alot of bad ones. some good ones though

fwood: great. maybe hit off tee alot more

irons: generally good

pitching/chipping: very good. getting away from hitting down sharply on ball. wasn't working for me. was exposing leading edge -----> chunk OR worried about leading edge chunk ------> flip wrists and skull ball.

putting. pretty good lag putting. made almost everything inside 10 feet.

had my best recovery shot ever. huge intentional hook from very deep trees 150 yards out. 10 feet from pin

amazing i shot 82 with 4 bad drives and 3 mediocre drives. 3 chunks and stymied twice by undulations around green

i guess extremely wet conditions both help and hurt

81 44/37. couldn't buy a putt but struck it well on the back with 8 pars and a bogey. I netted 70 to win low net with 25 guys playing in the skins game. pretty windy, lot of guys blew up.

91 on super wet course

Complete opposite of last round

Good irons, par 3s, , chipping

Mediocre pitching

Terrible driving and shortish putting. Greens kinda tough though

Have to get to range and figure out release points (how far to stand from ball etc.)
