How good of a sleep would you have sleeping on a 10 shot lead about to win at least 4.5M. Great golf by Gooch, good to see after the flack he took for making the move.

I assume it is in LIV's interests to play on easier courses because everyone loves a birdie and fits in with the more relaxed style of play?

Anyone watching this will look at this and realise that LIV is here to stay like the Indian Premier League is for cricket and it will attract the biggest names in golf very soon and the major golf/PGA schedule will just need to make time for it.

lol no

the Tour has that par 3 at the WMO. scratches that itch

TV ratings are king

TV ratings in the U.S. are paramount

LIV will never garner TV ratings that have a pulse in the U.S.

Per most of the LIV contracts, how much of that $4.5MM do you think he actually pockets? Because most of the contracts are structured that he has to pay 100% of winnings back until he makes what they paid him upfront.

This is one of the reasons why LIV is so seemingly laid back, because most guys aren't really playing for anything.

Like Phoenix #16, those aren't golf fans. They are simply looking to party and drink all day. Anybody who is interested in golf is going to be out on the course actually watching different shots rather than sitting on some dinky par 3 and getting hammered.

It's OK once a year on the PGA Tour, but make no mistake, it's not golf those tens of thousands of fans are there to see. And no golf fan would ever rain bottles down on a green/tee with players in the way.

Lol to all of this. If you don't think that LIV is going to reach a much younger audience worldwide with this format and atmosphere then I don't know what to tell you. You sound exactly like every frumpy old dude that hates this, but has no problem with it when it's the PGA Tour doing it.

There's no Tiger Woods for the younger golfers to look up to and want to be like the late 90s-2000s era that kicked it off resulting in all the players you know today. All the players on the PGA Tour admitted that Tiger made it cool to play golf vs being considered a dorky nerd. Rory Mcilroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler etc will never have that effect.

I hope every other weekend is like this for LIV. Singapore should be a dud though as they don't have much interest in sports. The Memorial Day tourney at Trump National should be a blast though. I like both tours. PGA will reign supreme but there's nothing wrong with LIV trying something new and letting people decide on their own if they like it or not.

Nah they've wised up to the PGA Tour is all and moved on to something new. I believe 13 out of their 19 guys finished better than Rory Mcilroy at the Masters.

The only reason everybody is so anti-LIV is bc they realize it to be a legit threat to watering down the talent on the PGA Tour. If it was an utter joke nobody would even mention it.

I bet Will Z goes there next. 2 back injuries puts him in the same spot as Brooks Koepka was in. Have a tour card and pray for the best, or go to LIV and make money and enjoy a different golf league.

At minimum they’ve made the PGA Tour pony up and pay what they were always capabale of, created designated events which is a 100% copy of LIV, might get a tv idea or two from the more shots that LIV shows, and perhaps rid the tour of dud tourneys like this week or the Honda Classic who finally ended their sponsorship because it literally had no fans or anybody that watched.

Major difference. The USFL and XFL are both joke leagues of never was players trying during a time of year when nobody cares about football and probably never will. Both leagues are built on the misguided premise that people want to watch football 365 days a year. Dead wrong. By the time the Super Bowl is over most casual fans and even football fans have had enough and move on to March Madness, baseball, NBA playoffs etc. LIV is actual pro golf talent that left the PGA and competes against their tournaments that nobody cares about anyways. What is the problem with that? The PGA Tour is the one that said it had to be one or the other. Not LIV. The anti-LIV crowd haven’t made a single compelling argument against it, other than they just don’t like it and won’t watch when it’s the exact same golfers they gladly watched on the PGA Tour the day before they left for LIV.

That said I prefer the normal PGA Tour broadcast, but I see nothing wrong with LIV as a different league to embrace when the PGA Tour has an unwatchable tournament full with players who are barely going to keep their card next year.

Don’t be shocked if the next young up and coming Hideki Matsuyama from Asia goes to LIV vs PGA Tour though. They already had Chacarra go LIV vs PGA as #2 amateur for the Spaniard grab. Rahm probably would have joined if this was around when he came out of college.

LIV is being smart how they go about this. They’re gonna have to do much better than the CW Network and streaming on LIV Plus app, and come the Fed-Ex Cup they’ll drop in ratings vs this week but I don’t think they’re folding any time soon. Haters are gonna be even madder when a few more players they enjoyed watching leave the PGA Tour for LIV at the end of the year.

I watched today as I hate the partner PGA event. Great crowds and atmosphere. Players seem to enjoy themselves but I agree with you . No ratings are a problem

I agree as well. You have to appeal to the USA for it to have a chance to work. However, they spent pilot year doing it on nothing but youtube along with nothing but controversy and with a giant uncertainty of who would really be on board. That left them scrambling for a tv deal. They already fired one of the head guys in charge for what transpired October-February. I don’t forsee the CW Network being the extent of the interest if they can replicate this weekend more regularly.

Maybe another Australian LIV event is in order? We have been crying out for quality golf in this country ever since the Australian PGA got rid off the Australian Masters.

there's a reason i chose a pick of Tom Kim laughing (he's laughing at the thought of joining an exhibition league)

the Prez Cup made Kim. he loved the event. he was the darling of the vent. why would he turn his back on ever playing that event again? also he loves the PGA Tour and said his dream was one day playing on the Tour

the Prez Cup was Sept., 2022. LIV announced their latest batch of marginal quality players (Pieters, Pereira, Burmester, Munoz, Danny Lee and Steele) in late Feb., 2023

obv Tom Kim was offered a bag and turned down said bag. the league run by the dictator who has a journalist from another country bonesawed with his body parts buried in a nearby forest didn't appeal to Tom Kim. you might hand-wave this last paragraph away but a high percentage of ppl in society actually have morals (not to mention potential mainstream TV networks who don't need the PR headache of being a mouthpiece for the Saudi gov't)

Nobody likes the fkn Saudis. That is a pathetic argument. If you wanna play that high horse then quit supporting the PGA Tour too until they cut all ties with tourney sponsors doing 40 billion in business a year with the Saudis. Quit taking Uber or Lyft. Quit using Amazon, twitter, facebook and anything Silicon Valley you can think of as their billions of investments in it all is what made that happen. Quit filling up the gas tank in your car or turning your heat on in the winter. That’s all Saudi oil. Or you can just hypocritically sound like a moron and single out LIV. A fkn golf league of all things and all the players there. Perhaps the Saudi money is spent better in their pockets vs staying with them.

I don’t recall ever hearing a peep of you when all the PGA guys played in the Saudi International or the Saudi Little Brother country tourney that Rory has played his entire life. Where was your outrage when F1 went there or Renaldo joined a league owned by them?

several professional golfers have mentioned the Saudis being behind the exhibition league as a reason why they turned down the bag

the subsequent MAGA circle jerks at Trump properties might have scared off others since
