Is it the game golf app? Can I just download the app and use it without the tags and belt thing?

That's most likely correct. I notice where my weight is at my finish. Usually when I start to tail them right it is because my upper body is staying back a little at the end. I just try to turn my left hip back consciously and make sure I get my upper body to finish more forward towards the target. My hips will slide more forward rather than turn when I lose it right.

anyway, i will do the work and post the real world numbers here.

off hand, as 10 handicap. i think i would give at least 5 strokes to the black tee me. if not much more
The net differential would be 4.

White 10 vs Black 11 and then the White loses 3 more shots for the course rating differential. Final match would be White 7 and Black 11

So many people ignore the adjustment you have to make when you are playing different tees(a different course for all intents and purposes). There are plenty of instances where people have the same course handicap from different tees. However, the back tee 10 handicap would be an underdog to the member tee 10 handicap every time and generally by quite a big margin. It's all rooted in the fact that the handicap system does not care what "PAR" for the course is, so it gets pretty confusing. Not exactly sure why they structured it that way.

thx for the responses/help

i think the 5 or 6 stroke differential for 10 handicap between whites and blacks (non pga type tips) is about right IF you can handle the drives (distance and tight chutes often) of the black tees..

in the cases of my 3 courses it's fine.......... but i certainly know courses with immense carries - played hyatt indian wells recently - or really tight chutes that sometimes you to work the ball to have a highly playable 2nd shot...........

in fact of all the courses i regularly play, i can only think of 1 big problem black tee but i know that they exist out there

Yes you should be able to just download and use it no tags. I have it for the days I might forget the unit so I start to tag one hole then I can finish at home. Basically a free gps app with a button to tag your shots. All you need to do is set it up at home and enter your clubs that way you can tag on the course just by picking that club on the phone. If you don't mind messing with the phone every shot you will get the same information you would get from the original unit.

Anyone see the ending in the Texas/USC match? The Hossler kid hurt is shoulder in the middle of the match on 17 tee ball. The group behind played through and Hossler hit again dropped the club in massive pain shot goes in bunker but you could tell he was done with the full swing. He uses putter out of bunker gets it out and then holes a really fast downhill 40 footer to end it without having to take another full swing and Texas wins to advance. They still could have one without that point if the other match the kid tied 18 but was a movie script ending.

Friend took this from today. 1st tee, while it could be considered a little bland I am still looking forward to playing it in tournament conditions.

Should probably figure out how to hit a fairway though, a bit narrow.

Unfortunately he's out for the final. They should have at least let Spaulding play out his holes.

Social media can be cruel. I was looking at the comments on the Golf Channel instagram feed. "Out with a torn labia" was the funniest of the bunch.

Watching the people run from hole to hole on the extra hole match reminded me of Caddyshack.

Yea that was a fun final. You know the kid who hit the winning putt got some from the girls team, that or cheerleaders, whoever the girls diving on the pile were.

I tried this out yesterday. Works perfectly fine for my liking. Taking an extra couple seconds to tap a club on my phone didn't bother me in the least and saves me $150. I would never pay $150 for what it does so the app by itself is perfect for me.

That's good to know. I was going to use it yesterday then saw my phone in the cart on the second hole and said screw it.

Finally my first range session with my new irons. I had some significant work to do, and with a tournament on Saturday, I was able to spend an hour over lunch and hit every one of them.

In the early going with the AP2's I have developed a touch of a pull. This i due to them being bent 2* up. I think in the past with my G30's I had the swing path of a pull to make up for them being flatter than I needed and playing a big cut. I was finally able to "let the swing go" and I was hitting good shots fairly fast.

One so called advantage to the long range at the club is the power lines running down the length of it. It's about 25ish feet apart between lines so I set up in the middle and had a good target to watch my shots. I was able to get 90%+ of them to land in that window so all in all a good day of work.

Nice glad it works. Once you get enough rounds in it helps a bunch, especially with iron distances.

I'm planning on attending the Friday of The Open when I'm over in Scotland in July. I've read some people say that you don't need to buy tickets ahead of time and can buy them at the gate. Thoughts?

I'd hate to miss out if they do sell out, but when traveling **** happens, so if something happened it would be nice to not be out the money.

Used the Game Golf app on my phone for my early round today. Fail.

It marked my tee shot on #1 at 239y but the rest of the hole looked OK. #2 looks like it was marked OK. #3 it had me hitting a 7I 85y and a 50* wedge 211y. #4 looked OK but then it didn't register that I went to the next hole and added my 5th hole shots to #4.

I gave up after that.

Was it an app issue or a phone issue? Have you used other gps apps on your phone?

Not sure. It's certainly possible that it's my phone. I will try it again during my scramble tomorrow to see if it works.

So far I've only been out with it once and it worked perfect. I'll update after a few more rounds. Tourney on Sunday and hopefully I remember to use it.

I think the only think I don't like about it is that it uses every shot you hit to go towards averages. So when I hit my driver into a tree 150y off the tee that knocks it straight down, that goes in as a 150y drive and kills my average.
MISC/RANDOM/BS Golf Chatter Thread Quote

They use average but there should also be typical shot distance per club. Might not be on the phone but it should be online. Typical takes away the really bad ones like that. Like my average drive is like 255 but typical is 270 I think.

Also I added a 1 iron on my profile that I use when I purposely punch out with a club or when one hits a tree off the tee so it gives me a more accurate picture. Plenty of times under a tree I choke down to almost the shaft on a hybrid and hit like a 120 yard runner when isn't remotely related to how far I hit my hybrid normally.

Hit a bunch of balls this weekend and felt some pain in my right elbow, think it might be golfers elbow/tennis elbow. Anyone had this?

Next time you change your grips buy these and put them in the shaft. I haven't yet but I know people who have and does wonders for elbow issues. Only reason I didn't was I thought it was $24 each not $24 for 8 of them.

I had those in some Mizuno T-zoid irons I had years ago. They were second-hand and I used them for a couple of years and then had three shafts snap just below the grip in a short space of time. Apparently they used to cause the shaft to rust internally if you didn't dry them out after a wet round - the moisture was kept inside by the fluffy stuff! They all broke about 2 or 3 inches below the grip, and I actually got hit on the head with my 9 iron at a par 3 after I hit the ball and the shaft broke on impact and flew in the air.
