Played a tourney this weekend at the club. Feel kinda ripped off. Two best net scores with full handicaps. One of the guys used to play in college and was scratch but that was 6 years ago or so. Now he plays 4 to 5 times a year and estimates he is about a 10 or so. He was in the computer from before and they put him as a scratch even though the scores were all half a decade old. Basically one of our guys had to make a birdie to contribute.

If anyone is looking for a Merion preview, they are replaying the 1981 us open tomorrow at 8pm on the golf channel. Not sure if it's the final round or the playoff between Trevino and Nicklaus.

Been super annoyed with bad driving lately so decided to throw a little money at the problem ... picked up a Ping i20 today. Demoed quite a few, hit most everything else like complete AIDS. The i20 at least felt workable. Hoping to get it sorted out.

Not real happy buying without a proper fitting but my swing is such a mess right now that would be a waste and since this is last year's model it wasn't expensive.

Also picked up something from the used barrel, potential secret weapon or more likely a candidate for the basement...

I love my new strong grip on my driver. Hitting some good shots out there and I love that I finally get to play the ball just inside my left foot and hit it on the upswing like the proze.

Still using neutral/weak grip on my non-tee-shots though. Can't possibly see how I wouldn't hit the ball fat every time if I tried a strong grip with my irons.

Im almost positive its just the playoff. Saw the commercial preview and it said something like "relive the epic playoff battle between Tevino and Nicklaus'... So yeaaaa

Somehow just saw Ricky Barnes collapse at the 2009 US Open for the first time. I want to feel bad but its just so hilarious. Plus, for no real reason, I hate his face.

Speaking of collapses, Kenny Perry woke up on the back nine Sunday and realized he was leading in a Major

Never tried Bingo Bango Bongo outside of on Tiger. How is it as a game to play?

as mentioned, it's pretty much a luckbox game

I imagine playing it with just a bunch of low handicappers would suck, but when you have a wide array of people it's actually pretty fun

of course the bingo/bango/bongo points are all negatively correlated so it levels the field

Just keep your hips turning forward and if your weight is on your front foot, it's pretty much impossible to hit any shot fat.

I don't post much but had to put this somewhere.

I broke 90 for the first time last year and my handicap hovered around 18-19. I started taking lessons starting in February.

I played 36 today and was thrilled to shoot an 86 (42/44), a new record for me. I had lunch, then went out and shot a 79 (37/42) despite a triple and two doubles.

The course was 69.7, 143. What a great game.

I have no idea what I'm doing with my driver. I have been consistently hitting a left-to-right shot shape, but it varies from a tiny baby fade to a big slice. Hitting it solid which is usually half the battle with me and my driver, but I cannot for the life of me hit a straight shot or a draw, which used to be my shot shape.

I know what I need to do, I just cannot figure out how to do it. Been messing with a lot of variables from grip and stance and alignment. Haven't messed with my swing much since my irons are going dead straight, as usual. Frustrating.

I bet TIM TEBOW can't hit many greens. Not the ones he's aiming for.

So we played it yesterday. Group of four of aroudn 18 hcp and 1 14 hcp. Its a pretty fun game and very simple. And yes, there seems to be a great deal of luck involved. But then again, that will always be the case because, yeah sometimes you hit the shot how you wanted it and sometimes not. All in all its pretty fun to play, but i think i prefer games more where there is a scoring element, instead of closest to the hole and that type of stuff.

I can see why some people would play BBB with the Bongo being the best score, instead of the first to hole out.

I do the same thing when I get tired and it is almost always not getting my hips through (at least that is what it feels like). My course has trees lining all the fairways and I hit it into the middle of the tree line 10 of 14 times after starting it down the middle/right side of the fairway. Soooooo frustrating.

Got a lot of work on my turned down 5 iron punch out under a tree shot though.

What do you guys mean by closing your hips exactly? Is that not turning them out towards your target?

At address (if you're right handed) rotate your hips a little in a clockwise direction

I think I hold my irons totally ****ed up. I have a ton of forward-press at address and my Vs point more to my left shoulder than my right. I just grabbed my 5 iron and as I look down I see like 8 inches of forward press at address.

Last time out my father in law told me there was no way I could hit my long irons straight with that address. He said I was way "open" (though my stance is not open) and that I can't consistently get my hands through correctly.

I also have the ball behind the center of my stance with like 5 iron on down. So ball is back and I forward press a ton. I'm almost certain I learned to hit like this when I started because I would come up and hit balls thin and this was my answer to hitting down on the ball.

He had me hold an iron in my hand with the club visually making a straight line from my eye to the ball and it felt weird as ****.

Before I take this to the range and try to alter my swing tremendously I want to know what kind of forward press you guys use on your irons.
