4. I would say the other golfers probably shoot 120+, 130+, and 130+ if they played their own ball by the rules. On one hole I drove it into the greenside bunker and hit the first bunker shot pretty poorly to like 15 feet. Only one other person even bothered hitting the shot with the others saying they wouldn't get any closer.

Awesome work Brock. Good write ups too.

Hoping some of y'all can help me out. Taking a short golf trip with 3 other buddies next weekend and trying to come up with some fun gambling games to play. Trying to figure out what will be best/fairest based on handicaps. We've got a 1, 13, 16, and ~27 (doesn't really keep one). Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Ready to do my first serious club fitting. Willing to travel and would appreciate any feedback that people have.

I'm 28 and a 9.8 hcp. Have a solid career started and expect to have a lot more time going forward to see if I can get to my golfing potential. My equipment is probably 15 years old (daiwa) and I don't expect a fitting and new sticks to make me a 4 hcp but I do hope to find more consistency with new clubs.

Google leads me to:

d'lance golf in Denver (I live 3 hours west of Denver)

Cool clubs - multiple locations with AZ, TX and IL being quick cheap flights away

Club champion - multiple locations with IL and TX being quick cheap flights away

Thinking id like to stay away from golf galaxy and golfsmith but only bc I've read that there are better options if you're going to spend the monies.

Thanks.

Anyone have experience with playing golf in Gran Canaria in November? Are the courses usually very crowded? Can you get a decent tee-time by booking a day in advance?

I would play either Wolf or if you want to play teams, play low man low total. Give strokes off the lowest handicap obviously.

Wolf you can easily look up.

Low man low total is the person with the lowest score on the hole gets a point. The team with the lowest combined score gets a point. Team with most points wins.

(comment about whether you want to have this breaker or a truly straight 3 footer withheld)

seems like he could have taken a different line with a much better expected outcome.

I doubt that, nobody's watching a Youtube video of anyone yakking a straight three footer.

Or, if they are, I've been missing out on some serious monetization opportunities over the years.

I watched this entire skins game yesterday, even with the potato quality resolution. I skipped a few putts here and there but some of it is quite entertaining. One of them wins the largest ever skin (at least at that time) worth $260,000.

I also watched some of the old Shell's Wonderful World of Golf and it really made me wish they'd bring that back and get some of the top guys to participate. I mean they were putting up $100k to the winner and $50k to the loser back in the early 90's so I'd think they'd be able to put up a good amount of cash to draw in big names.

I watched Couples vs. Daly, and then Couples vs Norman and a few holes of Gary Player vs Tom Weiskopf.

Within minutes I could tell that Weiskopf is one of those annoying cocky douche bags who are so prevalent around golf.

That makes me think. I haven't really had TV in quite a few years. Do they still do the skills challenge and the skins game ? I know it's hokey, but I enjoyed watching the guys just chill and have fun.

Think they still do the skills challenge, but not the skins game that I'm aware of.

Shells wonderful world of golf was awesome!

Well, I think that's another golf season finished with. Played yesterday in 10 degree (50f) weather and 35-55km/h winds (25mph'ish) and it was borderline miserable. I hit some great shots and hit some bad shots, but I was just happy to sit down on some seat warmers after the round. Now for the customary tradition of locking my clubs up for the next 4-5 months..

No but I don't have cable so didn't know it was on. Haven't watched it in a long time but might stream this to see if it's decent.

I would not recommend watching unless you are streaming/on dvr. about 20 minutes of commercials, 20 minutes of product placement in the show, 15 minutes of the competitors confessionals, and 5 minutes of actual golf. when you blow right through it it's a fine watch but I would never sit down and watch it live.

But there is this one contestant this year, Anthony, who is just calling everyone out, talking ****, and acting like a complete dick to everyone. He is taking any opportunity to get under everyone's skin, and is playing the villain role great. I watch just for him as everyone else is just blah.

Go to 21:15 on this video to watch Stuart Appleby hit the dumbest shot you'll ever see a pro hit. I promise you won't be disappoint.

Edit: It gets better!! After you watch this shot, fast forward to 24:05 for Stuart's follow up act.

Pretty funny listening to Tiger's post round interview here. If he gave this answer (starts around 3:20) about drinking a beer at age 20 in 2014, twitter/social media would probably go nuts.

Appleby's shot is on the list of dumbest pro shots ever ... There have to be dozens of really dumb ones over the years.

Phil Mickelson hitting his second shot to a par-5 out of the woods at Bay Hill, late in the final round to a semi-island green, with a wood. Camera angle from the green perfectly captures the ball's low slicing path as it lands about 100 yards left of the green in the middle of the water. (I am doing this from memory so maybe I have some particulars wrong, but it was truly horribly awesome.)

Too obvious to mention: Jean van de Velde could have easily won the British Open using only a 9-iron and putter on the 72nd hold. He chose an alternative path.

Others?
