Just found out this morning that our club is owned by T Boone Pickens' wife.
Evidently she was independently wealthy and is a racehorse owner/breeder.

Yes, I know, few will find this interesting.

Booked our yearly golf trip (Myrtle Beach this year). Staying at the Legends golf resort and playing their 3 courses (Heathland, Moorland, Parkland). Anyone ever been or know anything about them? Review seem pretty good.

If I was thinking of doing a trip in Jan/Feb what's the best place to go weather wise?

Went to Scottsdale last year in Feb and it was mostly awesome golfing weather (65-70F and calm), except for one brutal, outlier day (52F and super windy).

I stay at the Legends every summer for a golf trip and have played all 3 courses a bunch. They're good tracks. All pretty similar to me. Usually in really good shape. Have fun.

Any other tips or things to do while we're there or in the area? We'll have a car.

Expensive though

i'll throw out Hawaii, can be a little windy depending on the location of the course you're playing though.

The Legends has a pretty cool bar/pub type thing we usually hit one night. Cheap beer/drinks and decent food.

Other than that, its right off the main drag and there are tons of restaurants up and down the road.

I stayed in this area last spring, it was mostly a sprawling suburb with not much to do. We went to a huge mall one night to meet some friends for drinks at the Tilted Kilt, that was probably the highlight of the week.

Btw, the practice area at the Legends is incredible. They have one of the biggest ranges I have ever seen and the short-game area was also pretty great.

Just found I am doing a Monday to Thursday client engagement in Miami in the new year. My boss has given me the option of heading out there a couple of days early or staying the weekend. Before I start googling, is the golf in Miami any good aside from Doral?

I used to go to Miami Beach a lot for business last year. I only golfed at two places:
1. Miami Beach GC
2. Normandy Shores GC

I enjoyed playing both, but Miami Beach GC had much better service, and the greens were in much better condition as well.

I pretty much always stayed in the South Beach area (for business), so don't really know much outside of Miami Beach.

First time going to Miami?

Yeah, first time in Miami for me, coming from Toronto. I actually just looked the client up and they are in Doral.
