Think it will slightly change the bounce. Deloft = less bounce. Add loft = more bounce.

Thanks - that's interesting. I plan to ask my fitter/builder about it when I order wedges in the next month or so.

I believe if you add loft 1* (48 to 49) you are adding 1* of bounce and vise versa.

What's your 9i distance?

Have you considered getting a different 46? I dunno what's out there but they do exist -- Cleveland offers a 46 in their newly released CBX full face.

Could also get a 48 in place of the 50 and bend the 54 to 53 for a 48/53/58 five degree gap setup.

Solid ideas as well. 9i would be 140-145. So a decent gap there, too.

I am not married to my mizuno 46 - trying a wedge-wedge as opposed to an iron set wedge is quite interesting.

50* - 105-110y
54* - 95-100y
58* - 80-85y
The problem appears to be with your 50*, gaps are consistent with the other three clubs listed, but you hit your 50* 5 yards shorter than you should. I see that a lot with the highest lofted wedge in the bag because it slides up the face. But it’s odd to see with a 50*.

So a couple of basic questions about your 50*, is the shaft the same as the 54* and 58*? Is the 50* 1/4” longer than the 54*? 1/4” difference in length is standard with wedges. Are you positive the above numbers with your 50* are accurate?

If all else fails you can always bend it down a degree and see if that does it. Pro tip, you don’t want to bend up, always bend down if at all possible.

Just odd, something has to be different with your 50*. Or you’re just weird.

Your shafts the same? Maybe get the lofts checked too? I’m 46/50/54/60 and they gap very evenly for me, but same shafts in them. If I had to hit a Vokey stock 50 degree shaft I’d balloon it so short.

I wouldn’t recommend getting like a Vokey 46 to most people unless you chip a ton with it. Even I found myself missing my set wedge. Far less forgiving relative to most cb irons or whatever you’re prolly playing.

Yes same shafts throughout and all from D’Lance as far as build. Had lofts checked on the mizunos in 2020 but prob due for it again. Only make it down there 1 or 2 times a year as I’m a few hours west.

Lofts should be fine on Cleveland’s as I get new wedges regularly (I keep all my other clubs a long time; I’ve got a RBZ 3w ffs). Gonna get new wedges this spring in fact which is driving the thought exercise. I am leaning toward taking a 50 down one degree.

Shafts and lengths should be good; all built by a pretty reputable fitter in CO (D’Lance mentioned above).

Interesting about the 50* yardage as it’s one of my favorite clubs and favorite shots to hit but I do notice I def cannot get it to go a stock 115 as would be expected. Feels so good but then I’ve got a weird gapping thing. Golf.

i was up in the middle of the night last week on one of my nights off work. watching scotland links golf videos. they showed some images of the landscape and i really liked one of them. so i paused it and tried to draw it. theres not really a golf course right there but i needed something to connect the foreground to the background. et voila:

meanwhile facebook is flooding my feed with "i wish i lived in a cabin" bullshit. not sure what gave them that impression. i mean maybe later in life sure sounds nice. but i really just want a manor with a golf course by the sea. is that too much to ask?

I think Rahm plays a 58 bent to 60. You say this because the leading edge would essentially get too raised? I have a vokey 60 with 4 degrees of bounce I was gonna bend to 62 to kind of mess around with, but have honestly never played a wedge with the loft raised.

I'm tempted to play a 46/51/56/61 setup this year just to see. My 50/54 are worn to nothing.. was gonna wait for the SM9s probably before switching, though I was quite impressed with the new MG3s.

That's something I was told by the club builders but never asked why. After posting that last night I was going through it and came up with the same thought you did. Can definitely see the leading edge digging.

Even if Rahm plays a 58 bent to 60, he's got everybody at Callaway grinding that sole and leading edge to his precise specs, so it really doesn't matter. The general public doesn't usually get wedges ground to their exact specs.

You could always try bending your 60 to a 62 and then grind away if necessary. Of course you could totally ruin the wedge in doing so.

It'd be fun to mess around with that. My neighbor went to do a wedge fitting with bob vokey last spring.. think it was like $2500 for 2 hours with him out in California, which includes 4 wedges with custom grinds/specs. I was using his 60 for a bit which I think was an S10 grind, but they had ground it down to look so flat when open at address, like you could hit a flop shot off a hockey rink. Hit maybe 20 pitches/flops with it and it was my favorite wedge I've ever hit. He gets the specs too and is able to reorder them via Titleist. Tempting..

That sounds pretty damn cool: https://www.vokey.com/vokey-design-n...perience.aspx# It seems like your short game confidence would be through the roof after doing that.

Politics aside, Grayson is a dipshit.

Kip Henley is another who caught some Twitter fame for being outspoken, but it certainly hasn’t helped his base career. Went from caddying for Singh, to Cink, to a bunch of guys who never make the cut (latest being McGirt). He’s indicated on his Twitter that his outspoken nature has been a problem with keeping/finding players. He’s down to soliciting Twitter for bags, and driving Uber.

Twitter is just such a toxic place, it's unreal.

I actually played golf earlier this year with Grayson, super nice dude in person, and was very impressive as a player. Drinking + tweeting is probably just going to make you look like a degenerate, and be awful for your brand.

It's only toxic if you allow it to be toxic. Meaning who you follow, who and how you interact, etc.

I'm sure he can be nice in person IRL. My read on him is that he is a guy that started on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple.

Also using it as a platform to willingly antagonize well over half of the consumers of whatever it is that you are selling its kinda tough to then claim it's the platform causing the issues.

From my perspective-he shows very little empathy and compassion for others on Twitter but then when things got bad he expected it for himself.

Just my opinion

Fun exercise perhaps. Who is the best person you've ever played golf with?

Pretty lame for me I think it's the former pro at my former club, crushed the local PGA section events and played one season with conditional status on the Champions Tour.

Who's played with some tour pros or ridiculous college sickos?

Would guess Scott and Bo have played with the most sickest.

I played a decent amount with Fred Funk when he was still the coach at U MD and played once with Joe Durant when he was just hitting absolute bullets right down the middle

Also played with Denny McCarthy a few times when he was a junior. He was young young (maybe even like 8th grade??) and at that point hadn't shown too too much but then just kept getting better and better.

It's more that sometimes a dude with a drinking problem and probably other issues having access to a platform like that when he's drunk is just bad/unfortunate. He may be stone sober blasting off at Na, or drunk, doesn't matter, still a bad look. Agree with that.

I also uninstalled it off my phone and blocked it on my computer because I found it nearly impossible to not get super tilted at a huge amount of the stuff I saw no matter who I followed, so I just stopped looking at it for now. Would have been way easier to be a public figure without that stuff.

I just have way more empathy for people after I get to spend time with them, and see that he's a really nice and gracious dude.. he should probably figure out a better way to deal with twitter. I'd probably have the same opinion as you if I hadn't spent any time with the guy IRL.

I've played with a decent number of guys who aren't like elite on the PGA money list and KFT, as well as a few really good college players/juniors (like top 10 ranked). They all are just ball striking robots to various degrees. Would be fun to play with a guy like Rory for reference.

We played some Monday member/pro thing out in the Boston area years ago at my old course. 4 of us played with some KFT pro (nike tour back then), who hit 17 greens and shot 1 over. Guy had like 38 putts, and made 1 birdie that didn't contribute to our score. The other 4 of us proceeded to shoot a gross best ball 57. Remember being so impressed with the guy's ball striking... but holy hell was his putting bad. I also made 8 birdies and made about 230 feet of putts, so I'm sure the guy was about ready to quit golf forever.
