That's awesome. I'm from Toronto as well. What industry are you in?

Also, the client being located in Doral can only be a positive, right?

I'm a technical IT consultant, former programming lacky. My company specializes in Sales Performance Management (Incentive comp plans, reporting, etc) implementations. We partner with a company that sells the product and we join their implementation teams to do the services. I won't get into specifics to keep some level of anonymity, but you can PM me if you want to chit chat about it.

This client actually has a very thin travel budget so my first week of requirements is likely the only week I will spend on site, the rest of the work will be done remotely. This is fine for me as I prefer to travel as little as I possibly can.

How about you?

Some truths and some way offs. I'm a general manager of 3 courses in South Florida and been involved in the refinancing of two, and purchase of one. With due diligence of another. 18k-20k rounds for breakeven is way low, but depends on a lot of factors. I'd find the $ amount listed to buy a course a little on the higher end, I find you can get a course for a good bargain now being most markets are over-saturated. They are right about the zoning of the course being if course has substantial value.

Golf courses can be profitable on a lot of factors. Lease payments on equipment and bank notes are the biggest factors, insurance and utilities secondly. With golf courses you really can save on labor with volunteers bartering for free golf. Marketing is key, many courses have non-existent marketing expenditures any more and if they do they select cheap marketing methods that do not have positive value.

There is a driving range for sale nearby that I've frequented for years. I am now curious what the asking price is.

Noooooooooooooo! Open up the putting prop bet thread again, please! I was looking forward to getting a lot more enjoyment out of that!

We finally get another thread in this forum that generates a lot of activity and hilarity and it's closed?

We've waited so long! There have been secret whispers around the campfires of this mythical thread that will one day appear to once again bring life to this forum and it's closed?

No! That won't do! That won't do at all!

I don't understand why a thread on a forum that is intended for discussion gets closed because there was too much discussion?

You must be kidding mods - I was getting ready to try this challenge and bring back some stats for a very good putting bogey golfer. To be fair I got down to 10 once, but I am one of the best putters at my club even though I now play off 18.

I was about to make a post along the lines of - wtf do elite golfers think that they are the best putters also? The best putter in the world might not be able to break 100 to save his life!

I've never been much better than a low teen golfer with my long game but I have won plenty of stuff because I can putt well. I've won many comps. with mid 20s or less putts playing to 7-12 over par on the day.

Mikke,

Don't let the thread being locked prevent you from trying this. Post results in here if need be.

Fwiw I think people trying out what OP actually mentioned in the putting thread and posting results is as good a reason as any to open the thread back up.

Nitbo would fit in well in Asia. Once you make some minor accomplishment, you sit back and rest on your laurels, and talk about whatever the hell it was you did 25 years ago.

Was re-modded well and we can go back to the other place - doubt if I will do this in the next two weeks, but will definitely try to do it In January.

Golfed yesterday in Rhode Island. Was foggy, drizzling, and about 30 mph winds. Walking only. My buddy and I got paired up with 2 older gentleman. On the 14th hole the group behind us hits into us. I figured they didn't see us, but on 15 they did it again, and almost hit somebody in our group. I took their ball, wrote ******* on it, and put it in the hole. Also, I left the pin on the ground because I knew it was impossible to see the green without faintly being able to see the pin.

It would have been better to rip off your shirt and challenge the offender to a duel.

QFT! - Not the smug bit, just how very wrong you were - as was I!

It took me a bit to understand the request above and it seems like a good idea, but I'll defer to cwice if he has time to wade through that ****show and separate the original prop bet from the ensuing dickwaving. I've been trying to avoid it.

Sorry for being so vague, but yes, if it is at all possible it would be nice if that thread could be split.

Let the elite golfers argue the toss about imaginary putts/putting theory and let the ordinary golfers have a go at the OP challenge or just rail it.

I'll even volunteer to help a mod to sort the posts out.

Going home and seeing my old home golf course with all the buildings torn down, grass overgrown, with weeds growing on the greens was one of the most depressing things ever. Just endlessly pisses me off how senseless it all was.
