Him and Spieth paired together on saturday in a 3 ball was brutal. Those two should never be allowed to play with each other ever again.

They should just pair those 2 with Andrew Loupe and give them the last tee time of the day.

Last year was worse for the Texas tournaments though. Didn't they have to play LCP all the way through the green and had to change a par 4 to a par 3 since none of the fairway was actually playable.

i was at the vancouver event on the canadian pga today.

anyone in texas or elswhere know of this texas kid austin connelly who just turned pro from high school. got advice from jordan speith apparently.

he made 2 cuts on pga tour last year when he was in high school...... was either #9 amateur or junior in the world. probably the latter

was going to go to university of arkansas but decided to turn pro instead.... "amateur golf is boring"

he is embracing his canadian dual citizenship i'm pretty sure so he can get into international events more easily

nice score on thursday in vancouver. not so good today.

my real question though is: how big is this kid? looked tiny when i first saw him but then it turned out he was a bit bigger than i thought.
...... didn't seem to pound the ball either. must have an amazing irons and short game

i should add he seemed super figedty sp?

i see bryce molder leading...... what year was bryce's horrible 14th at pebble? i think steve marino blew up too on that hole in the same year? or maybe it was paul goydos? which wouldn't have been so long ago... i know "google is my friend" but more fun to ask here.... i'm thinking 2007 or so?

Do you mean he is using his Canadian dual sponsorship to get sponsor exemptions?

yes. a canadian of convenience........... canadian open exemption and participation in things like pan-am games, world cup of golf, olympics - most of those in time.

doesn't bother me too much............. most olympics teams/countries - all sports - do this......... where it bothers me some is when canadian media has no idea the kid is from texas

one thing i know in world cup soccer is once you've played for xxx country you can't play for yyy country........ that's why some of the best canadian players have never played for canada. prefer to try making it - mixed success - to play for england/netherlands/etc.

edit: i should add that he's played alot of golf in canada - summer with his grandparents in nova scotia.

it's brilliant........ he gets the "best of both worlds". positive texas factor and canada factor.......

i will note 2 things i mentioned: 1) he has deep ties to canada. he didn't just discover his canadian heritage; 2) i said he seemed like short hitter, but i think he's 2 for 2 on pga tour cuts which is pretty darn impressive for high schooler

He plays out of my club, or did before this pro thing. He got into the Nelson last year after Ship's horse got sick. He is a very slender guy, elite short game from what I've been told. Only seen him hit range balls never played with him.

There's another guy at our club playing the Canadian tour, Bates.

That's 3 ridiculous putts today. I mean he at least gained 2 strokes over the rest of the tour from those putts.

But, but, but the implosion at Augusta was going to ruin him. The kid was never going to contend again. He's the next David Duval. etc. etc.

marshal kicks his ball away from trees. grandstand stops huge flyer from bounding over. gets to drop in reasonable lie.

that's running good, chip-in or no.
