Lol PGA Tour

Nothing spells excitement like a Mc Girt/Curran sudden death OT at Jack's place

I was hoping earlier on that the leaders might fall back and let Rory back in, but what was wrong with watching two relatively unknown guys playing hard to win at Jack's place? I thought it was a pretty exciting last few holes and playoff tbh.

Really humble interview at the end with him and his kid - nice to see one of the outsiders win now and again.

DJ takes way too much flack imo. Guy has 9 career wins and had won at least once for 8 years in a row.

Hasn't missed a cut this year with 6 Top 10s in 11 tries.

Wrong.

He fades in the biggest moments of his career consistently. I've never seen a guy with so much talent completely fall apart on so many back nines. Whether it's by a half ass bunkers part or his melting flatstick's part, the man has underachieved in his career.

Now if your goal is making really good money then DJ is having a fine career but if you're trying to leave some kind of mark on the game: a guy with his talent, majorless when he's had more than enough chances and pissed them away is failure.

Im going to guess his goal is to make really good money. Hes made something like 30 mil on tour, 4 top 5's in majors or something close to that, 9 wins with 2 being wgc events, and hes 31. I dont get the hate, hes one of my favorites on tour.

DJ is an idiot but I don't understand why people would hate him. He's like a less lucky but more talented Forrest Gump. Who in their right mind hates on Forrest Gump?

Jack looks pretty pumped about getting a winner who has high profile sponsors like Wheels Up.

He's won 9 times on tour at the age of 31, and he's a choker? Winning on the PGA tour is hard and he's done it every year.

He's not a particularly good putter nor does he have a very good short game. That does not make him a choker. Even with his shaky short game, his game from tee-to-green is so spectacularly good that he is in position to challenge for the win practically every week.

I'd like to see him win a major just to silence the haters. People keep talking about his "choke" to lose the US Open to Spieth but everyone forgets all the incredible shots he hit down the stretch to even be in a position to win. The club grounding thing at Whistling Straits was more the result of a dumb course design than a choke by DJ.

His putting and short game is good enough to get into contention on Sundays. Then Sunday happens

agree 100% .......... couldn't believe those negative comments made by others.....

he has some problem with majors. tougher courses and set-ups. not sure his short game is totally up to it and maybe too much manipulation on his swing that breaks down under pressure. not even sure the math on his "not closing out majors" is that daunting either.

but the other 48 weeks of the year, he's an absolutely amazing player....

I suspect a lot of the DJ hate is driven by jealousy.

Really? The rule was posted prominently throughout the locker room during tournament week and a copy was placed in each participant's locker.

The ball was hit into a crowd of fans who had to be moved for him to hit the shot. It looked like a trampled down patch of sandy grass and dirt. In what golf tournament are there fans standing IN the bunkers? Dumb course design.

I suppose you could call it a brain fart but the guy contends in almost every major and is far from a choker.

Never called him a choker. That penalty was on him and his caddie. If I remember correctly, Dustin admitted to not reading the bulletin. That's not the stuff of a champion.

http://www.pga.com/pgachampionship/2...on-081510.html

Here is the exact wording of the bulletin given to players:

Notice to Competitors - Bunkers

1. All areas of the course that were designed and built as sand bunkers will be played as bunkers (hazards), whether or not they have been raked. This will mean that many bunkers positioned outside of the ropes, as well as some areas of bunkers inside the ropes, close to the rope line, will likely include numerous footprints, heel prints and tire tracks during the play of the Championship. Such irregularities of surface are a part of the game and no free relief will be available from these conditions. All bunkers inside the ropes will be raked each morning prior to play as normal.

2. The local rule allowing players to move stones in bunkers will be in effect.

The officials should have known that if they wanted him to see the bulletin they needed to hold it above his mirror while he's snorting.

fyi, mark mccumber's son tyler - florida gator - finished 2nd. looked like an awesome player amongst obviously very good players.

i marshalled - both finding drives on tough holes and keeping spectators quiet and still on a par 3.

talked to a guy who is top 30 college golfer. following his buddy.....

said some interesting stuff:

that from 160 yards out of thick, wet rough making it onto the green is an excellent result. i'm thinking i play out of worse rough - wet, thick or deep - almost all the time. may have to temper my own expectations.

don't start thinking aggressively going for birdie until 155-160 yards if not closer

makes me really thinking avoiding errors is the game even at very high levels. and absolutely have to hit the fairway.

i saw him and some of the competitors at the sponsor dinner. we were talking low rounds in history and guy they knew who has amazing 2 scoring accomplishments.. this college player neglected to tell me he went 62-62 in a prestigious tourney. 31 on the one of the bracketing nines too.

Spenda, not sure where US Open is but i would think he might be able to do pretty well on certain courses in time..... he seems deadly accurate. very coordinated which is what you'd expect from someone of smaller stature.
