Day really close to a five putt and not from far, brutal speed on greens.

If you took a drink every time they mentioned the golf course is different today compared to the first two rounds you'd be ****ing dead.

I am not a fan of the style pants that McIlroy is wearing today or Fowler always wears that are tighter around the ankles. Really don't get it. I think they can't be more comfortable and they look worse

joggers, Rory has a 77 scoring average in them, hopefully that kills the trend.

Yes, watching a golf telecast is one of the most frustrating things I can imagine. The lack of actually showing golf shots! And somebody once commented that more than 90% of the shots they do show are on tape, the announcers already know what is going to happen, etc.

On Thursday and Friday's Players telecast on Golf Channel I swear they showed more shots from previous Players than from this year. Seemingly every time they would move to a new hole they would show several "famous" shots played on that hole from the past 25 years. Jeez it was ridiculous.

Golf, when done well, can be a fantastic viewing experience. But it is very rarely done well.

P.S. Even my young daughter knows that when they show a random guy out of contention lining up a 40 footer on some random hole that putt is sure to go in (or else why else would they show it).

I don't know how anybody can watch live. It is borderline unbearable DVRd.

another reason why watching TigerGOAT goating was so great, because you got to see every shot live

I do it by having something else up on my second screen and also doing stuff on my phone, often muting the broadcasters when they're especially annoying and always muting commercials.

Also I'll find European streams with the Sky Sports broadcast. They seem to show more shots and aren't always trying to make it out themselves. They just sort of quietly discuss what's happening and maybe add some opinions here and there.

Random ken duke story: my friend (mini tour pro) is good friends w ken and relayed a story about a practice round they played together at my friends club. Basically ken has a kinda tough chip shot and my friend asks him what he's trying to do with it, "leave it a few feet left of the hole there?" He asks. Ken replies "if I don't hole it I'm throwing my wedge in the lake". My friend relayed it as an example of how confident the pga tour pros are and how high their expectations are with each shot.

To add more about Pgatourlive, it is always free on weekends. Tomorrow, for example, they start streaming at 8:30 AM with featured group Rose and Els, and will start streaming from 17 as soon as the first group gets there. They don't broadcast every weekend, however.

Ian Poulter, clearly audible, after pushing his tee shot on 13: "You are absolute ****e!"

Gary Koch: "I think he said he was shut at the top."

looking at the odds and wondering about something.........

these are odds excluding jason day..... so i guess basically it would be top finisher net of JD.

here are the implied %'s from the odds ... i realize there may be a lot of juice. curious about the relative pricing.

matsuyama 40%
cejka 14%
duke 11%
molinari 12%

is that mats-premium justified?... young gun who can go low?... japanese or other asians like to bet on him? don't think of japanese as gamblers but maybe other asians identify with him?

unrelated to my betting question: can a player like JD decide to play par golf and shut everyone out unless they go fairly low? or does that not work? not work on this course?..... thinking it was horrible strategy for greg norman, amongst others.

i tend to agree......................... but yesterday JD saved himself with that chip in. shocked him so much he tried to play out of turn the next hole - thought he'd birdied the hole...........almost 5-putted as well. that 4th putt basically missed but fell in anyway.

this borders on unbelievable cliche but i do think he's got the bad play "out of his system"... so i do agree with you.
