Yes 1-2-4 for both games. Rates are right around $20-$25 per night in the area. You can stay at the Comfort Star 2 Hotel right at the Riverking and we can give you a poker rate of $18 per night. If you want other recommendations in the area please let me know.

There is a $7,500 USD Guarantee tournament this Sunday at 2:00 PM. The buy in is $50 with rebuys and addons and if you arrive early you get an extra 1,000 in chips.

I can't speak for coming from Thailand, but generally I would assume it would be cheaper to book a round trip flight than two separate flights.

You are sitting there at your desk, putting yourself in our shoes.

Hundreds of questions flood your mind. How do I get there? What do I do when I land? Will I get robbed? Will I get food poisoning? Is this for real? As your imagination becomes closer to reality the anxiety pierces your body. Am I really doing this?

Don't grab a friend, bring yourself. You will meet people, you will have delicious American food and can live in the comforts of a nicely westernized apartment if you so choose. You aren't visiting an African tribe who has to walk miles to the nearest watering hole. Every street corning is bustling with a Smile Mart that makes you feel like you are in 7-11. You can make the experience as Americanized or as Cambodian as you choose, after all you are here now making your own decisions.

When you walk into the River King the first time you will be slightly nervous, yet a welcoming greeting will set you at ease. Free food, free drinks, amazing hospitality will make you feel like this is the safest spot in Cambodia when the anxiety creeps up. You have traveled across the world to play cards with local businessmen, fellow 2+2'ers, passing through travelers and sometimes even famous TV personalities.

The frequent regulars will make sure you have a good time, don't be afraid just ask someone to take you out and off you go. Onto the streets where you are now being cat called and can feel like a girl in a skimpy dress walking down New York City streets.
Does she like me? Is she just hustling me? Do I like her? This is clearly a game some people are not cut out for, but remember they are people too. The more fun you have while at the same time being not an *******, the more appreciation girls will give you. Sometimes they can even hook you up, with cheap jewelry, places to sleep, or food when you might look to drunk.

All whoring aside, come to meet new friends, come to see why an underground casino has better dealers than most places in North America, and come to a place where everybody will know your name. Options are available at the Red Fox hostel, where they play lower limits and in a much more dimly lit room reminding you of the 80's. Nagaworld also awaits if you want to escape the street feeling of Cambodia and go into a world class looking place where for some odd reason poker is to be played with Baccarat cards.

What are you waiting for? Your mundane boring everything the same day by day life to explode with excitement? Only you can make that happen. Make it happen now, you will not regret it.

Signed, a wanderer who found some meaning in the maze of Phnom Penh.

Nice, reminded me of Matt Moore "Another kid another dream". If you haven't already read his thread, its a must for anybody but for sure all poker players!

Keep it up, always nice to read such nice stories!

Although I came back early on Monday from the WPT and left the other players behind, the event is largely over as most of the players have now returned to Phnom Penh. I won't say too much more about the series as I have covered that in a previous post. But I will say that while it was certainly busier during the main event, I still would not consider it a success and I don't think anyone at the WPT would either. In fact, I know they didn't as I spoke to one of their representatives and he called it the worst event ever. I'm sure that the organizer of the event will try to spin it as a great success, but I cannot think of any single individual who was actually there who would agree.

Speaking of winners, we had some success as a group as one of our friends that we traveled down with finished second in the rebuy event. Another friend of the room cashed four times, with three thirds and a first in the 8-max deep stack event. Overall it was a great group of guys that we went down with. Everyone was very supportive of the Riverking in agreeing to wear patches while they played and talking up the room whenever they got the chance. And beyond the felt, I was happy to show everyone around Sihanoukville that had never been there. We tore up the town as usual, both at the Square and at Victory Hill. But I really didn't feel like hunting down a different girl at whatever bar every night. So I basically hung out with a regular that I had from before and didn't really bother with any new girls.

Back in Phnom Penh, the games at the Riverking have been playing much bigger as the original owner of the room is back in town. I'm not going to mention him by name, but anyone who's played there knows who I am speaking of and why the games have been so much bigger as of late. This is the same guy who I once saw fire off eighteen rebuys into the Sunday tournament; the same guy who shoved all in on every hand and out of position; the same guy who I once saw win a $32k pot in the PLO game. And when he's in town that also means the whiskey will be flowing as he usually gets multiple bottles for nearly every player and staff. I am fairly certain he has opened at least six in the last two nights. The biggest impact has been on the PLO game as they first upped the stakes to $2-$5, and then just tonight they were playing $5-$5. The current operator called me at 11:00 PM to tell me that the Korean whale had scooped a $7k pot and that another friend of ours took down an even bigger pot of $8k.

I really did not get much of a chance to play cash down at the WPT. And while I have played more upon my return to Phnom Penh, I've been largely busy with planning for this Sunday's $7,500 Guarantee. As part of my new job I have marketed this event very heavily both online and in person. It was largely the reason I was in Sihanoukville. At first it was weird and awkward for me to approach random players and try to promote the event. Being a player, I didn't want to mess with anyone's concentration while they were trying to play an event. But eventually I figured that I normally like meeting new players anyway, so I tried to have conversations with them as I normally would instead of just being a pitchman. And when you really talk to people, things of this sort tend to come up naturally anyway. So while I didn't get to tell everyone about this Sunday's event, I probably had more of an impact with the ones that I did speak to.

https://www.facebook.com/events/903043336499199/

Many of the guys that we've been hanging with over the past few weeks have gone home. They'll be missed as they were not only very good poker players, but also decent people who I am very much looking forward to seeing again on their next visit. I have a great time showing new people around and giving them the lay of the land so that they don't ever feel overwhelmed, which can often happen in a foreign land. Many people here on 2+2 have showed interest in visiting Cambodia and I've already booked hotel rooms for several of them. So I look forward to a new crop of players coming in to experience what I think is the best destination in Southeast Asia. Here's to hoping that at least some of you are donks!

While some have left, there will always be a core group of us who live here and go out during evenings to blow off some steam from either a winning or losing session. I have said it before but it can't be stated enough that the bar girls in Phnom Penh have become much more aggressive and open. If I had a nickel for every handjob I've received while in the bar in the last month, I'd have like six nickels. And while I found girls to generally be passive and quite unenthusiastic once I got them home, the girls I've pulled lately have been the complete opposite. The nineteen year old I mentioned in a previous post nearly pulled my hair out and the girl I pulled last night was no different. She spent most of the night dancing on our table, reaching under my shorts and letting me touch basically wherever I wanted. It used to be that you had to get a girl older than the ideal in order to get someone so into it. But lately these are young girls and they seem to match their older counterparts in their affection and performance.

I did go out tonight, but we took it easy for the most part. We spent something like two hours in one single bar and I don't think any one of us had more than two drinks. And none of us bought ladies drinks either which has to be a first. I got invited to go out with the Koreans tomorrow so I didn't want to drink too much tonight as they tend to be hard drinkers. The amount of alcohol we are going to drink tomorrow is going to be obscene. There is probably a part of me that doesn't want to go, but I would lose face with the Koreans if I was absent and it might not reflect well on the room either. So I guess I'll just have to suck it up and let them take me out for free food and booze. #roughlife

This man, is the most hospitable person I've ever met, named Mike, In Cambodia. Well, top 3. All kidding aside. great guy, will go out of his way to make you feel at home.

Finally, if anyone is Phnom Penh (or even better, staying at Riverking) is looking to buy say $1000 or $1500 on Pokerstars, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
